Tell me about your injuries fs

Have you ever broken anything. Gotten any cool scars. Been crippled beyond any hope of recovery.

Broke my left wrist when I was about 5. Was running in the house and slipped on a tiled part of the hallway, slid along the floor, slammed my wrist into the the bottom of the wall. No long lasting scars or anything. Except a bit of family weirdness about it.

I've only ever broken toes. However I still have a scar on my forehead from when I got 30 stitches. It was the night before high school graduation. I was coming back home from something with my parents. I was wearing too long dress. I tripped on the stairs and rammed my glasses into my forehead.

All my graduation pictures have me with a giant bandage on my face.

Nothing big. I'm too careful. Few scars here and there but meh.

Right now I have these mondo bruises all over my shoulders, though. They look super cool.

The back deck of my house is on the second floor, with a staircase down to the yard. I rode a space hopper down the stairs and went flying when I hit the bottom. My father had been trying to remove a tree stump, and he'd left his pickaxe out in the yard. I had a bald spot for years.

There was also a time I was bouncing on a trampoline at a birthday party, and a really heavy kid jumped on and bounced me right off. Broke my leg.

(I also have hidradenitis scars, but that's not exactly impressive.)

Edit: I forgot the tiny little scar on my finger. It's from cutting myself on the lid of a can of cream of mushroom soup. It's pretty hard to notice.

I have never broken anything major, though I have cracked ribs on more than one occasion. I have also dislocated my shoulder and gotten shin splints before, both of which sucked for a few weeks.

I have had surgery for various things a total of five times, with the most major ones involving a hiatial hernia repair that had drains in my lungs for a month and my liver transplant which involved opening my chest cavity to place it (it was a very large liver!) and took me a total of six months to recover from to the point of semi-normalcy. It took about four years to fully recover from, to the point of being able to exercise again.

So yeah. Fun times!

Edit: Oh and I guess there was the time I was in a car accident (flipped into a ditch) that spilt my scalp and required three stitches. I kind of walked away from that one with minor injuries though- thanks, karma!

Well, technically I never broke anything - though someone broke my nose for me. Not sure if they're cool - but I used to self-harm, so yeah, I basically have over a 100 scars. Bunch of of surgical scars. I actually impaled my leg on a stake once. I'm patchwork, basically.

I've broken two bones. The first was when I was home sick with strep throat and I managed to break my toe by hitting a door that was unexpectedly open. The second was when someone knocked me over as I was heading to the bus after school and I broke my wrist when I landed badly. I still have no idea who it was.

I've also dislocated my knees over and over because they hate me. The worst was when both of them slipped out of place at the same time.

I have some little scars on my knuckles from being splashed with hot oil once when I was a kid.

One time I got my pinky caught in the hinge-side of a door as it was being closed. Didn't actually break it, though it got pretty damn close.

Another time I was trying to cut giant chocolate chip cookies with a pizza cutter, and I wasn't wearing a cutting glove, so the pizza cutter sliced into one of my fingers pretty badly. Didn't get stitches, though; it ended up working out.

Other than that, mostly just scrapes and bruises. Definitely got some really cool bruises from doing an upper ropes course, but I've never broken anything, or needed stitches or anything.

I broke my arm playing Win Lose or Draw when I was 12.
When I was 6, I slipped on some badly maintained stone steps and split open my forehead, resulting in a scar between my eyebrows. Until I was in my early-30s, said scar was star shaped and fairly prominent. Now it's sort of twisted around into a spiral and sort of hidden by my eyebrows themselves.

I sprained my ankle playing quidditch this weekend. Never broken anything though, this is probably my worst injury ever.

I've never broken a bone or even sprained a major body part (I sprained my finger once.) Don't know how. I'm not very athletic or outdoorsy, but I'm reasonably active. Luck, I guess?

I have a big burn mark on my arm from where my mom accidentally pressed a hot pancake griddle against me when I was 12. It has been fading and shrinking around the edges slowly for the past 11 years, but it's still darkish and bumpy and conspicuous.

Atm my knees are hamburger and my left pinky nail is turning black from falling off my bike during my first bike ride since warm weather hit. :D The pinky nail bothers me most because I play the violin and I have a concert coming up...

I fell of a spring based rocking horse and bit into my lip partially (but not fully) detatching a piece of it)...

I've still got a little separate nub on the top center that sorta sticks out.

I needed sitches on my forhead once...

I also got a concussion via hockey puck at at a semi-pro game.

And my shoulder hurts a lot right now, think I was resting on it funny.

Oh and one time I was going down a steep hill on my bike, My brother suddenly stopped in front of me, and I only hit the back break... I skinned both knees and both elbows in the landing... not serious, but not fun for a child.

I knocked a mug of freshly brewed black coffee over my lower leg when I was a little kid. No lasting damage but that was not a fun few weeks.

That's about the worst thing. I've never broken any bones (touch wood) but I've sprained both ankles a couple of times and dislocated my left knee three (I think?) times. Some self-harm scars too.

I fell through a roof once, landed face down on the deck, and I broke my chest. Seriously, every rib on both sides were broken where they went up to join my breastbone. I also broke an ankle, and got a black eye and split lip. I was told I was lucky. That most people who land like that shatter their face as well, and usually do not survive. I got some crazy chest scars that make me look like I oughta been in an Alien movie. It really freaked my hubbie out the first time we got to third base.

I also got a nice array of scratches on my hands and arms from various farm related activities.

Split my head open twice when I was a kid hitting sharp corners (window/bookcase - they removed the bookcases from the corridor thanks to me) Faint scar right below my hairline to this day, but I got some cool velociraptor toys and. T-Rex so it's a fair trade.

Have a really visible scar on my leg where muscle got cut out to assist with an injury to my right eye (actually eye was fine, it was the connecting muscle to the lid or something of that nature). Got a badass eye patch for about two days. Literally didn't sleep those two days because the pain was so bad, and I say this having had a chronic pain condition. It was full on migraine symptoms, the technical sense, not the bad headache way.

Broke the outer metacarpal in both my hands, and flattened the outer knuckles slightly. Which would be less of an issue if I wasn't already dyspraxic as fuck, and write on a daily basis.

Our coolest scars were from top surgery. We look like we got bit by a shark... twice! They pretty much stretch from under our armpits and almost meet in the middle at the breastbone; there's maybe an inch free.

The scars are thick as my finger at the armpits, which is where the drains were and where there's the most dynamic tension. (If you don't know what the drain bit means, DON'T LOOK IT UP. It's gross.)

I got my eyebrow cut open as a kid when me and another kid smacked into each other at school once(it was an accident, we were both not paying attention to where we were going), the other kid came off worse though as they had to have stitches. I've just got a small scar on my eyebrow where I was cut.

I've also got a small scar on my thigh from where I got a really big splinter in my leg.

Relative to my immediate family, I'm almost supernaturally lucky when it comes to avoiding injury. The worst injury I've ever had was bruising my tailbone while rollerskating (an activity I tried exactly that once), which was painful and made going to the loo very awkward for a couple of weeks, but that was about it. This is despite my having climbed everything from cliffs to second storey windows as a kid, gone skiing, surfing, rock pool diving, and a variety of other potentially injury-inducing activities. My sisters, on the other hand, have broken bones, been hit by cars, had teeth knocked out, fallen from heights (well, I did that too, I just wasn't injured doing it), and various other accidents over the years.

Apparently I got all the physical luck in this family.
