28) I can't stand WoW for just that reason. The obsessions people have with it hurts me. I have a friend who's partner turned her into a WoW widow (almost literally with an attempt at suicide after she left him over his refusal to stop playing so much). It was horrible. =/

I do not understand these people who say "WoW ruins lives". Maybe because I haven't met the kind of person who seems to be ruled by the game. I play it, but I don't play it obsessively. Neither do any of my friends who play with me. Granted I find it silly that someone would get so into the game to do the things listed above. That's just crazy and makes it seem like everyone who plays the game will turn out that way. And it's not true, not everyone is that way. I know I'm not!

You know, I'm starting to think I'm the only wow widow who isn't bitter about it. My rl partner raids every day for several hours and sometimes that pisses me off, but generally we've managed to strike an accord. As long as I can still pull my household away from the game when I want to do something with them, they're okay, and since they have something to distract them, I can run off and indulge my own crazy hobbies :)

Hey, Gefrierpunkt. If this isn't you, my mistake, but it certainly sounds like you. If it isn't, feel free to come out of hiding, I won't bite your head off or anything.

Also, I completely disagree. Though I hold out hope that the localization will make the characters more tolerable, they can't fix the plot, and whether or not I played it myself or had it translated to me does nothing about that. Does the localization somehow make Phoenix less horribly (in my opinion) out of character? Hey, that little demo I played was in English and I still held th same opinion. Does it fix the glaring issues with what happened to him? Does it make the Mason System any less nonsensical (or, alternatively, WTF), does it make the Jury System any less lame?

No, not at all.

I know my issues with the game, and though I'm hoping they'll be able to patch some of it up with localization (where I think I probably will like it a bit more, if not LIKE it)... I stand by them entirely. After all, a ton of the Japanese fans disliked it, so...

...can someone like the game? Sure, that's their choice and they are damn welcome to it. Do I like the game? Nope, and it's my opinion and I'm also damn welcome to it.

A few years ago I had an AU GG RP (acronyms!) on GameFAQs that had some of the coolest fight scenes and most awesome original characters (it was all OCs with the canon characters setting the story) that I've ever seen. I don't think it'd work on LJ but... it was awesome.
