You are definitely NOT alone. I think it's really fun and unique. The idea seems really original to me. It starts off pretty slow, yeah, but it's just so good to read. And I can't really think of a character I don't like which is hella rare. And Bianchi is, to me, one of the best female characters I've seen in an anime/manga in a while which makes me happy since it's rare for me to really adore the female characters but so much.

I hate it when people don't like something just because it already is/is getting popular. So what? You know, if something is really well liked and quickly becomes popular, there tends to be a REASON. That goes for any series, really. I had to learn that over time. :|

17. Whee, more pointless FF elitism. The thing is, I would have agreed with you on which is better, if it weren't for your tone.

(And even then, FF12, though I enjoyed it, could have been a much better game. The story was solid, but some of the characters were very flat and boring.)

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
17. Couldn't enjoy it when it stole too many concepts from a superior RPG, sorry.

Fuck SquareEnix, regular Squaresoft games were so much better (and original.)

[identity profile] kestram.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
2. I think what you're looking for is equality, and I'm sure you can find that in a het relationship too.

8. I got JFA first and this was the first thing I shipped. I prefer them to Fran/Adrian (although I do like F/A).

15. I like hearing about shows and stuff helping people like that, but SZS is such an unlikely motivator! Congrats on getting over your insecurity, nevertheless.

19. I don't read a lot of smut. That being said, the PW kink meme is FUCKWIN.

26. The guy to the left looks like Edgeworth, only younger and brown haired. CRAVAT FGFDSGFS

49. When I first got into DN, I didn't care for Misa, but lately I'm liking her. Actually, I'm beginning to feel sad for characters like her with manipulative crushes (and I'm disliking Light for using her).

B: The "guy" on the left is actually a little girl.

#17. Oooh feel you there a little bit. Don't be so elitist though. The haters have decent reasons--weird new battle system, low character development, too little cutscene. Basically people complain that it's just a cashcow.

I think it's brilliant. And that a lot of fandom isn't intelligent.

A lot of the world isn't intelligent, either.

#33. Augh who is the Death Note guy?? His hair is very fab ^^b

Too!big. Haha that's so true...I've also seen all those movies. Princess Mononoke was my FAVORITE (and still is...Howl's Moving Castle=kinda sucky).

Porco Rosso was alright. The Cat Returns was pretty good. Nausicca was pretty awesome. Totoro is amazing!!

But my favorite Ghibli movie would have to be "Whisper of the Heart," the movie that "The Cat Returns" was a sequel to. Mononoke still takes the cake for Miyazaki, though.

[identity profile] slatterly.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
2. I don't understand why people say things like this. Surely it's possible to have a wonderful heterosexual or lesbian relationship, too.

13. I <3 that book.

49. YAY MISA.

[identity profile] pinkhead.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
26. I keep looking for the old Project Justice games, but I can't find them anywhere....*sigh*

28. Oh shit dude, I know. I hear opening creaky gates and flip my shit.

5. Knuckles is my hero. I hope he's unlockable in Smash Brothers. :>
8. I think so, too. :D There's some good fic out there!
9.
12. AGREED
16. I'm not in Transformers fandom, but I agree 100%. It takes some serious talent to make stuff like that work convincingly.
17. SERIOUSLY.
18. They're an inspiration to me, too. :< ♥
25. Never heard of múm, but Sigur Rós and Björk are both AMAZING. I will be looking up múm's music :O
28. Me too. D: Every time.
30. Actually, as long as you don't buy the 40GB PS3 (it's the cheaper one that's not backwards-compatible), you're good forever! :D SONY has said they're going to be getting out of the videogame business after this, so the PS3 is their last console. You're in luck!
48. LUIGI IS NUMBER ONE IN MY BOOK. I support Luigi/Skeleton Key 8D I would buy one in Mario Party and then never let her go~~

16. You had me seeing your point until that last line about seeing beyond out own narrow, fleshy experience, which smacks a little too much of the same kind of people who cry out FURSECUTION!
I'll give that it pobably would be interesting, because solving an unusual problem usually is. But then, I don't really enjoy reading about people-sex, so I'm not going to be too into robo-sex either.

27. I don't even like Martha, but those are just kind of on the disgusting side. I definately agree with the opinion of "He loves them all, why can't we?" Just because I don't particularly care for Martha doesn't mean she wasn't a capable--and really pretty great--companion. I wasn't a fan of hers, but she certainly wasn't horrible. The Doctor picked 'em, the Doctor liked 'em, so you have to give 'em that much, at least (even Peri).

29. After stumbling on the fandom, I tried to watch it. It hurt.

35. I didn't know much about this as a problem. I remember once stumbling upon someone who'd made an icon out of one of my pics. I was more than pleased, especially since it was a pic that I'd worked very hard on and was really proud of, even thought it was of a crack!pairing that no one else seemed to like. She did credit me as the artist in the comments, and that's more than good enough for me.
Randomly taking fanart and not crediting--not so good.

39. I can understand where people might not find him attractive. I've tried to draw him and come to the conclusion that he is actually a rather funny-looking fellow (with "really bad skin" as the Doctor says). But he's so...enthusiastic. And for me, it's always less about how someone looks and more about how they act. And as the Doctor (which is where I've seen him most), he's this ball of energy, positively joyful, and that, to me, is more attractive than being pretty. He's got charisma.

Same with Eccleston. Offhand, you wouldn't think he's that hot, but he just has so much freaking...something, that it just grabs you.

41. I don't know the name of that show, but I think I recall seeing some fantastic fanart of it on dA.

43. I...I fail to understand the problem. Are you saying that you don't want to invest that kind of time, or just that you don't have that kind of attention span? Marathoning Avatar and marathoning Doctor Who wind up being pretty much the same, time-wise, and marathoning's all I manage most days.

44. I still can't stand what he did with Doc Ock. Oy.

46. I'm kind of inclined to agree. I still watch it. I just don't think I really like it that much.

General: If you post to the fifth or sixth page, does anyone see what you wrote?

4. Don't give up. Anime has changed quite a bit since the Cowboy Bebop period but that doesn't mean that there are no good series anymore. It's just a little harder.

15. Zetsubou-sensei is love.

16. That's deep, yo.

21. Forgiveness is divine. You don't have to return to fandom to accept an apology.

35. He's not ugly, but I wouldn't throw myself in front of a train for him or anything.

#6.

I feel the exact same way ):

#20.

I've seen a lot of secrets about people idolizing Raito/Light, actually. I think it all goes back to the childish idea of "what if I could rule the world?" Raito/Light may be a genius, but his ideals are very elementary that we all feel at some point, I think, that part that makes us obsessed with control.

It's nothing to be ashamed about, unless you act on it violently.

lol i haven't even read the series in like a year .__.

17. GOD FORBID ANYONE LIKE FFVII. THEY MUST BE SO RETARDED, IT'S NOT LIKE IT WAS A GREAT GAME OR ANYTHING.

Chriiiiist leave FFVII alone, people. Talking about how "much it sucks" doesn't make YOUR favorite game look any better.

Wow, so much to comment on today! When it rains, it pours.

13: I was reading this while eating ramen. When I scrolled down to the Torchwood bit, I nearly choked because of laughter.

27: Ah, that's just uncalled-for! Martha is made of win! I'll always be a Ten/Rose shipper but that doesn't mean I think Martha is Satan incarnate.

29: I know, right?

39: *actually shaking* Must...not...comment...on...wrongness...of...statement...
But that's OK, I reckon. I'll gladly take him off your hands &hearts

43: Either that or you have the attention span of a goldfish. Seriously, 45 minutes isn't that long. They get stretched out to an HOUR on TV thanks to commercials. Just watch them on DVD. You can pause and go do something else for a while if you need to. You'll get so caught up in the plot that you won't even notice the extended time.

46: OP, just wait till you watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if you haven't already. It may be the best episode yet.

43 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-01-23 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I do watch them on DVD.

Like I said, I've been watching too many cartoons. 20 minutes more suddenly feels like a huge stretch to my "normal" running time, especially with the more episodic shows.

(Just to clarify, I'm not knocking any of the shows pictured in the secret as "bad" for being longer, just overwhelming. Or maybe I do unknowingly have the attention span of a goldfish. Your call.)
