22. To each their own. I am one of those who thinks Yuuko is one of the greatest female characters from CLAMP, but I don't like a lot of popular characters (Subaru, Kamui, to name a few). Point is, I don't see why this is a secret. CLAMP fandom has such a bad reputation (it's getting better?), but I'm sure no one will actually hate you for disliking Yuuko.

49. WOAH. So far no one is trying to kill you! Please tell me that last bit was meant to be sarcastic, because it oozes obnoxious martyr complex. Other than that, I agree that Misa is great (most other people do too).

I'm so sick of these secrets from people saying they dislike/like characters. Everyone should just list their favorite and least favorite characters so we can get all that out of the way.

Actually, from what I've seen Kamui is very unpopular. Apparently he's too emo/gets in the way of the pure and just love of Seishirou and Subaru/too selfish/whatever.

I agree with you though, I think the fandom is getting better. There has been a lot of talk about not bashing characters anymore, for example (at least in Clamp rants, where the parts of fandom most prone to discussion seem to congregate).

1. I understand this mentality, but let me ask...

Does the Orihime love stop or reduce the physical/otherwise affection for you?

I had a significant other that dropped ALL physical affection towards me over a fictional character. Only then do I feel should it be upsetting. It sucked because a few other guys were interested in me at the time, but I stuck it out with him.

If you'll notice in my secret, I wasn't ragging on yaoi fans in general. I was just kinda lamenting that I don't agree with what seems to be 90% of the internet, and am usually jumped on for said opinion.

I know that not all yaoi fans are idiots, or buttfags or whatever. But at the same time, I wish EVERYONE in fandom was more tolerant or accepting of others' views.

17. I hear you on one point - a lot of people I know who hated XII had, in my opinion, "dumb" reasons to hate it. So many people I know gave up on it because it wasn't written at their precious middle-school reading level, because characters were lying and keeping plot information back, and because the large cast of npcs were honestly as important as the party.

But for the love of god, WILL PEOPLE STOP BLAMING THE FFVII FANS? We're not all elitists who stomp on other FF's. In fact, I see very little of that out of VII fans these days - maybe I'm just looking at it from the wrong angle, but it seems like VII fans get a lot of shit, rather than give it these days. If anything, when I see people insulting fans of FFVII, they'll turn right around and claim some nonsense about how FFVII fans are opreshun-ing them.

Why is it worse if someone hated XII and liked VII, but not if they preferred any other? Is it so hard to believe that FFVII had redeeming qualities? Because you know, not everyone who prefers VII over another FF is some mouth-breathing Sephiroth fangirl. Some of us might just really have enjoyed a videogame featuring an out-of-the-box and thoroughly modern evil empire, a cast of lying cowards, and incorrect flashbacks. Maybe some people just find dystopian sci-fi more interesting than the fantasy-with-airships mix that seems to oversaturate the JRPG genre. I'm tired of having to defend my love of FFXII and VII. Do I have some sort of magical ability to pick the games that everyone is going to hate on or what?

I don't know what happened - maybe what the girl did to you was truly too awful to forgive. But it might not be a bad idea to try and hear her out - people do grow up, and people do change. And maybe talking about what happened will make you feel better. I know that's worked with me.

OTOH, again, maybe it's not forgivable. I don't know the situation.

2. I must assume what you want is male gay sex (for which I don't think that pairing would be a good comparison at all, since I'm pretty sure Miles is asexual), because otherwise I don't really see what's the problem with being female.

17. I'm so influenciable by fanservice because although I think this game is way more mature than most of its predecessors, the main reason why I like it is the FFT and VS fanservice. And I never really understood the FF7 hype. I think it's rather unremarkable as far as FFs go.

42. You haven't been to certain parts of the fandom, I take it? (By the way, I ship them. As strange as it sounds, it's like videogames deliver better yaoi pairings than manga these days.)

Which parts would you say? Because I'm a fan myself, and finding people who either don't look down on me for it or like it but look down on other fans is getting to be something of a challenge these days. I welcome direction for the Promised Land, any Promised Land.

For what it's worth, I have observed that most anime fans eventually reach an "Okay, I'm tired of anime" phase wherein they become a lot more selective about what they watch and/or like. It happened to me a few years ago- after several years as a rabid fan, I pretty much decided that anime bored me to tears and didn't follow it at all for a couple years and decided to get my sci-fi fix from American TV and the BBC instead.

Now, I watch the occasional Anime series the same way I'd watch the occasional TV series.

Japan doesn't have some sort of immunity to Sturgeon's Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturgeon's_Law); after people are first introduced to anime, it just sometimes takes a while to realize what the dumb cliches are. There's still good anime and bad anime out there, just like there's always been, but sometimes it just isn't time. :)

10. Boy, do I know that feeling. As a kid, I was always accused of being a boy 'trying' to play a girl, and told that my female characters were awful. (They felt two-dimensional to me, too.) It has nothing to do with slash, but I avoid writing females for the same reason.

43. ... I'm the complete opposite. Anime series aggravate me, because they're so short (episode and length-wise.) I thought FMA was short and then I got into Fruits Basket, Wolf's Rain, then Elfen Lied and Loveless. The epic length series like Inu-Yasha, Naruto and Bleach don't hold my attention for more than a few episodes though.

22. I've always loved how Yuko is stuck with a job where she has the ability to make everyone happy, yet can't. I don't compare her to Sakura or Himawari because, even if they are all female, they each have their own category in my mind. Or something of that sort.
35. I wish I could agree without feeling like a hypocrite for making fanart icons. After the last wankfest and attitude that a similar secret made however, I stopped making fanart icons. Just because YOU'RE an artist and am happy with it doesn't mean others are. :| In other words, I love you for this secret.

It's kind of stupid to have archetype characters in the first place, but there is always that subconscious desire to do so.

I guess that's an interesting plight, but each character has his/her own. I don't see why Yuuko's is so special that people have to bitch at me for not liking hers.

4. I agree that it's hard to find really good anime series, but I don't think there's that much of a difference from those old school good series, in fact, I would go so far as to say that some (very rare) series nowadays have turned out for the better. Try out Mushishi, Mononoke, and Texhnolyze, three of the most fuckstastic series ever with superb art direction and storytelling. I kid you not.

Too!big. As much as I love both Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle (blasphemy, I know), my heart weakens for older movies like Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday, and My Neighbors the Yamadas. I didn't care much for Gedo Senki, but I'm really looking forward for Ponyo on a Cliff.
