She isn't someone I would put in day to day settings. She looks very elf-like, which can seem odd in certain areas, but overall she is pretty. I can see her as a full blown A-rank actress, especially with the added prevalence of fantasy, comic books, and sci fi.

I'm not really sure why that's still a surprise to some people. A fair few people might say, "Pretty." Some people might say, "Damn, she's hot." And others might say, "Really? Her?" Thing is, you don't get to decide how attractive other people find her.

Now, I will say it's weird when the actual text of any media implies that beauty is objective and someone, anyone, is to everyone's taste.

I'm kind of with you, OP. My impression has always been that she's a really great person - smart, pleasant, generous, etc., and an acceptable if not hugely talented actress - but the culture around her seems to be really tied up with a lot of things that have nothing to do with her and that make me uncomfortable.

Both liking her and disliking her have come to be semi political opinions in the nerd world, and I don't like it. I wish her all the best but I can't say I'm fond of her.
