57. Aw man, MSB was my first fandom! My sisters and I used to pair everybody up, and my older sister even drew fanart. I wonder if she still has those pics...
Obvious pairings: Arnold and Phoebe, Keisha and Tim. Also, Carlos chased after all the girls with Ralphie as his wingman (but he always failed miserably, until he finally settled down with Dorothy Ann), and we didn't care about Wanda enough to even bother hooking her up with Ralphie or anything.

The top part of your secret made me happy, and then it made me sad. You just had to use a cap of two seconds before he kills her, didn't you? Poor Mrs. Lovett.

I haven't been paying much attention to the online fandom (for the first time I have IRL friends geeking out as much as I am!), but I did once see a comment calling Lucy a "slut." Which is the stupidest, most insensitive and unjustified attack I can ever recall seeing against any character. "She was virtuous." That and her hair color are practically the only things we know about her. Plus, I got this unsettling feeling that she was called that because of what the judge did to her, and that's just unacceptable. I tell myself that she was just referring to the beggar woman's behavior in the stage version (but how many fanbrats have seen that?), but even so poor Lucy can hardly be held accountable for what the arsenic did to her head.

On a happier note, just the words "Saint Nellie" are enough to send me into a fit of giggles. I adore Mrs. Lovett, but... no. Just no. Glad to see someone who thinks like I do.

Sorry everyone out there who will defend rape in fanfiction as harmless fantasy, but I can honestly understand how it would offend someone to the point of making this secret. To all of you who have said "Learn the difference between fantasy and reality" and generally been patronizing, haven't you ever gotten upset and said something exaggerated that you half meant, or didn't actually mean? I can agree that people have the right to choose what they read and write, and this particular poster doesn't have to read rape fiction. But having a strong emotional response to something like rape in any medium (film, writing, music) is also that person's right. I'm not saying I wish rape or anytying else on anyone, nor do I agree with the sentiment. But being enraged over something like rape is a lot more sane and humanly than whining over canon vs. fanon or bickering over fucking DeathNote.

And in my personal opinion, dealing with your rape issues by simulating another rape (through BDSM or whatever) or reading about it on a regular basis, does not make you a well adjusted or sane individual. I'm not asking for people to agree with it, but you're all being awfully intolerant and insensitive, and I at least want that secret poster to know that not everyone is pissed off at them for expressing their opinion about a trauma. Christ on a bike.

Anonymous not because I'm a coward or don't want people to know who I am, I'm not ashamed of my opinion. I just don't want to deal with the shit storm of muppet flail insanity in my inbox.

Don't kid yourself, the OP of that secret is a hypocrite. S/he is getting off on the idea of rape, too, only it's the idea of REAL PEOPLE being raped as a revenge for their FANTASIES. That's far more sick and disgusting than fictional rape could ever be.

I know it's dangerous ground here, and I understand how actual rape victims would probably find the very idea repugnant, but apparently it's quite a common fantasy. Also? 3. I was into the BSSM fandom as a kid too. I wrote femslash, even RPed it. And I am to this day 100% heterosexual. If your mother thinks that Sailor Moon had any influence over your sexuality, that's dreadfully ignorant. Given that you're an adult now, you might consider sending her a few articles demonstrating the link between sexuality and genetically inherited characteristics. It's about time she was educated on the subject matter, and it will be much easier to come out to her when she understand that she, or any children's cartoon shows, isn't to blame.

25. Interestingly, two of the most prolific rape!fic authors among my circle of friends have both been raped. Of course, there are many who haven't been, so I would say that the kink itself it wholly independent from one's own personal experiences.

Of course, the same comment could be made about people who find other dark topics exciting, like war or murder. Both are horrific in their own way, yet murder mysteries/CSI are tremendously popular, and war is glorified to the point of heroism in so much media. Still, wishing either of those things on the people who enjoy the subject matter handled in fiction is rather more appalling.
