You have attracted my interest. But could someone tell me what shows those are?

Re: 47

(Anonymous) 2008-03-02 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The first one is Big Love, but the second is Three Men in a Boat and it's much much more fantastic. Even though I've never seen Big Love.

Since when does something have to be "high standard writing" to have a profound effect on someone?

..Even in the first five minutes I thought I would ship it, too. For a split second the whole age thing came into question. 8D But nothing I've seen in the whole film - or manga - ever made me think differently. Oh, fandom. What you've done to us.

[identity profile] ccmars.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
40. WORD TO THE 1000000000th DEGREE. Where are these guys, SVU?

[identity profile] jazz-glass.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
14. Pft, who doesn't? THEY COMPLETE EACH OTHER is a huge part of the plot.

16. Wow, I have never seen such a distinct lack of ass.

[identity profile] militarypenguin.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
21. I like Colette, too. And that's including her voice.

54. Didn't like Harry Potter? What's the matter...too DEEP for y Emotional effects can be brought out from the most obscure and seemingly stupid places. Grapes of Wrath left little to no impact on me, but the Kiwi (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gzicZPnd6kU) video made me cry like a bitch.

Oh man... KIWI! ;_;

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Couldn't you use the exact same argument to say that everyone who doesn't ship Ten/Reinette hates the Doctor? Or everyone who didn't want the Master to live and stay with him on the TARDIS forever? Don't you want him to be happy?

Re: 27

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not so sure the Doctor would've been happy with the Master on board his ship and him stuck on eternal baby-sitting duty with his psychotic best enemy. And Ten/Reinette was a quick, one-episode thing, which doesn't make it any less nifty than it was (or any more proof that Ten kind of came into being loving Rose as a default setting, and wasn't very good at it, while Nine actually went through the process of falling in love...*insertmorebabbling).
I don't know what the OP had in mind (and I'll bet it was probably a little more childish OMG ONE TRUE LOVE! just because of the wording), but I figure the Doctor/Rose relationship was a big, long thing, and it did make him happy, and honestly, I don't think it cheapened his character any to be in love. But the way I see it, it bothers me less when someone just doesn't "ship it" (as in, just doesn't really care for the romance) as opposed to people who actively hate it and talk about how wrong it is for the Doctor to fall in love with anyone and how if the Doctor did fall in love, why was it with such a *insert choice of insult here* etc etc.

18. This obviously means that the three of them need to get in bed together. Threesome FTW. Why don't we throw in Owen and Tosh too and make it a Torchwood orgy!

But really, I'm getting annoyed of all the Jack/Gwen bashing. Granted the show is laying it on a little too thick this season, but to me it has just as much merit as Jack/Ianto. In fact, I like Jack/Gwen more. I'm not an idiot for doing so.

I think the majority of Colette hate comes from the role she has in the game - i.e. as the lead heroine it is naturally her task to get kidnapped/sick multiple times so the protagonist party can save her. That's not her fault as a character, I too like Colette. But I do find her role in the story to be often little more than infuriating.

68. Brock doesn't deserve any anyway.
Don't get me wrong, he's fine, but he ended up getting on my bad side by failing to acknowledge Misty and Jessie as women while fawning over anything else with a vag.
Your ship interests me greatly.
And I have to agree on the first line.

[identity profile] coral-amber.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
5. COMPANY LOVE. I know, I love them too. Marta just doesn't seem like the marriage material.
18. I suppose the only reason I don't like it is because of sweet little Rhys. That and it's a bit too typical for a show that's generally not so typical.
47. Me too, though Big Love's kind of eh. I think I'd support polygamy a lot more if it weren't just for men.
55. XD do it!

Torchwood Cosplayers are fantastic. Find us, don't be afraid!

[identity profile] griggharris.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
This may or may not be cinquante-cinq.

Are you going to Comic Con?

[identity profile] falco-999.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
47. No idea who the people are in the top part of the photo, but YES! Griff, Dara and thingamajig were fantastic. I loved their trip down the Thames, and the yachting made me nearly die laughing several times. Also, Jerome K. Jerome? FTW.

50. There's nothing wrong with criticising characterisation, writing and plot in the HP series or any series, just so long as you can provide a good basis for your opinion. Blind worship or hatred of the author's choices is useless and lazy, but no one, including yourself, should object to a reasoned elucidiation of your stance on Snape, the production of which would if nothing else be a good exercise for the mind, that has the potential to increase your self-knowledge in addition to refining your interpretation of the books. (I didn't like DH when it was released, and I still don't like it. It isn't disrespectful to express an honest opinion, when done without bile and with moderation.)

54. That seems rather a narrow way of looking at things.

51.

[identity profile] falco-999.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops. Sorry, 51, I typed you by accident.

Cid FTMFW! He hoarded all the testosterone. I hate how everyone thought he was old (he was 32 in VII!) and a hick. Honestly, WHERE DID IT IMPLY THAT HE NEEDED TO SOUND LIKE LARRY THE CABLE GUY. FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2008-03-02 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
At least Larry the Cable Guy can put on a decently convincing southern accent. As a native Tennessean, let me just say that Cid's voice actor couldn't have missed the mark harder if he was shooting blind.

I have to mute the TV when he comes on =\ My poor baby sounds like such crap.

Because It totally looks like Raz and Sasha... And I'm a not-so-closet fan of that 'ship.

Oops, yes it is. I didn't see the fine print.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
8. *shrugs* It makes sense to me. 'Course, I read the book, so I kinda saw it, too...

40. SVU love! :3 (I kinda ship it, too.)

46. D:

53. I hope it's more acceptable than gross, 'cause I'm the same way. XDD

54. I'm not going to disagree that it isn't 'great literature.' After all, their kid's books. I know that. But it had a very profound emotinal effect on me, regardless. I had grown up with these characters. Since I was ten years old, I knew and loved every single one of them, and the deaths of some of them effected me in a way that I know no other book could ever dream of. Just because they aren't 'great literature' does not mean they cannot effect someone strongly. That's like saying, "I lose respect for anyone who is deeply moved by an anime. It's just a cartoon!" That would cause all hell to cut loose here, tough. XDD

67. I do it, too. The way to get away with it is hyperbolize everything, or give it a different ending.
Edited 2008-03-01 23:18 (UTC)

26. Uh considering how many mediocre bands currently operating in the US today (My Chemical Romance*, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco), we don't really need to import more of them.

*And this is speaking as a fan of MCR.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
XDDD I'm a fan of all of those (well, at least some songs. Does that count as a fan?) and I agree entirely. XDD
