I too am in the middle of a monster, multiple-story, Mary Sue, alternate storyline fanfic (of the Doctor Who fandom) that's keeping me from going nuts. And although I've posted a chapter to A Teaspoon and an Open Mind, I seriously doubt any of it will see the green light of the interwebs.

the fact that this His Dark Material's trilogy is anti-religious is what makes me like them.

I didn't even realize it as a kid when I read them. I didn't realized it about Narnia either. But I'd rather have a book questioning religion and shooting it down for being corrupt then being all preachy and just retelling a story with a bunch of metaphors like Narnia.

I don't see HDM as against all religion, or narrow minded at all, I don't know how you got that, it is more about how religion can so easily be corrupted and how people shouldn't just accept religion because it isn't always right. Lyra is the opposite of narrow minded....

So. Honestly, if the books being about religion and Pullman's views on the subject ruined the books for you, in my opinion, you didn't really like the books all that much. If you honestly disagree with what he's saying, good for you! That doesn't mean you have to hate the books forever, fearing that they're going to somehow poison your views.

IMHO, I don't actually think the books are hatred towards God entirely, more hatred towards organized religion. This may in fact be a reallyreally stupid viewpoint, but I don't really care, because that's how I view the books, and it doesn't matter to me how other people do. That's the whole point of what I'm trying to say. Have your own views on things!

If you're going to wank, at least use the correct damn title. I think I'm the only person that noticed you typed Four Years Gone instead of Five Years Gone. Considering how popular that ep was, I'm surprised that A) the title got botched and B) everyone was oblivious to it (er, except me).

On a related note, I think I'd rather read girly!Peter over badass!Peter because the writers tried to make him more badass this year with disasterous results. If he's going to be badass, at least really develop him as a character without leaving plotholes the size of China behind.
