Word.

9. o wow lmao.
19. She's one of my idols, too. :)
37. I ship myself with Corny, I shit you not.
45. SORRY?! I'm not a full grown lady, but I think Zac is reeeeealllllly good looking. Must be the eyes and hair that does it for me. :X

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
1. Yay! Kaworu secret! ...I'm sort of surprised that Kaworu would be the one to change your mind, though. Not that he isn't an interesting character, but he's on screen for a grand total of...what...15 minutes?

4. Hmm, there's something I haven't tried...now I want to. XD;;; Although I think it'd be hard writing a canon character falling in love with an OC, just because...it'd be so easy to make the OC too perfect in hopes they'd be "good enough" for the canon character.

45. HE'S KIRA! That's why. All women love Kira.

49. Nah, the Animal Crossing girl is cuter. ...But they do look creepily similar.

OP #1

(Anonymous) 2008-03-07 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)

Sometimes the smallest of characters with the smallest frame of time can have the greatest of impact. As a writer and somesuch, I've come to really appreciate and admire those who could compact so much feeling into so little "space." It proves something, you know?

8. I agree for the most part. XD I actually like Miyako as much as the original Bubbles.

But yeah, they didn't go wrong with their interpretation of Buttercup at all. If only there were more episodes with her instead of a bunch of crappy "Momoko is in love AGAIN"

8 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-03-07 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You know for the most part I'm bummed that Blossom "isn't the brainy one anymore" :S
But actually, looking back at it, if there's one reason for me to dislike the original Bubbles, it's her insanely high-pitched Italian voice.

32. dude, news for you: people don't pick their fetishes. it's not their faults, as long as they don't act on it.
37. omg yes. my girlfriend thought this was canon because of the end, too, actually.
66. lol, uhm, I don't understand why I love it I guess. it was a pleasant surprise and had a lot of clever bits, a lot of classic animation references, and amy adams is lovely and talented. not sure what else to say. XD;

I do, too. I stopped watching the show when they implied he died and no one gave a fuck. Oh Ford, poor, poor Ford. I'll always love you!

Re: not!secret 1

(Anonymous) 2008-03-07 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if at least they'd bring him back sometimes, but in this season it's as if he never existed. And to bring Beckett back (who doesn't even contribute much to the plot) just so the fans can say goodbye, while Ford is still crazy, and captured, or dead, or free - and no one CARES - makes me hate the writers a little. And Sheppard, because hey, this is the guy who was your XO and probably died because he wanted you to be proud of him.

04 : Same. I really love a good CC/OC pairing, but only when it's done well. Unfortunately, yeah, a majority of it is pure shit with no dynamic between the characters — only OMG HAWT SECKZ LOL

06 : It's a good pairing, though, imo. ;D

07 : When hasn't it? XD

12 : She turned into a skank.

22 : Of course you do, faggot.

28 : You should be ashamed. Daddy issues much?

32 : I could not fucking agree more. You know what would be the most hilarious thing? If the writers of rapefic got raped IRL. The intense trauma would be unbearable, and it's really something they deserve. (And to tell the truth, I'd have to hope the trauma is so bad they kill themselves. No one would miss a bunch of fuck-ups. Well, except other fuck-ups, lolol.) Looking through the comments, I saw a lot of people all "OMG LOL ITS A KINK, COUPLES EVEN DO IT AS SEXUAL ROLEPLAY!!1" It's one thing when you're a couple and you trust your partner. A little variety's good, right? But so much of the fic out there is Character X raping Character Y, and all the fucked-up fangirls love it. I think that says a lot about them, really. Time to get to a shrink, stat! As for incest, lol. Assuming these nerds are able to get married and manage to procreate (god, I fucking hope they don't), I hope their kids have sex with each other. That would be motherfucking hilarious (NO PUN INTENDED, HAHA)! That shit destroys families. I wonder if fangirls think these things out logically before they put words down on the screen and fap to them. ...lol wait, what am I thinking? Of course not!

38 : Faggot incest-lover. What the hell is wrong with you? Seriously, get to a psychologist. Or sleep with a sibling. I'm willing to bet you'd like it, perv.

45 : I can't because I don't understand it either. That guy is fucking ugly, HSM is gay, and I'm sick of seeing both just about everywhere I go.

51 : American games are omg so laem! Didn't you get the memo? JAP GAEMZ R TEH WAY TO GO!!1 What I'm trying to say is I agree with you -- it really is unfair that Japanese game characters get precedence over classic American ones.

56 : Either you're confused or you're really a closet homo. Choose one, you can't be both.

61 - I understand all too well.

34. I love that soundtrack, and love it hard. I have had it in my collection since it came out, and yes, yes, yes... it is such fun and happy and wild music that I love to blast in my car and pretend that I know all the words to at an otherwise embarrassing volume.

It's sad that the passing opinion of one person can threaten that, and change it. It's the whole "Good GOD, Eve! We're naked!" sort of deal.

I hope you get a chance to find it again, or just reach blindly for some good music someday and find this one waiting.

I first read the trilogy in fourth grade, and enjoyed it for being so different. It was unlike any other story!
Then I read and finished it again a few weeks ago. Wow, the Amber Spyglass really tossed subtlety and objectivity out of the window. The worst thing is that the Subtle Knife has a cliffhanger ending so its sequel can't just be excluded during re-readings.
I can't help but feel that those who don't think it's against religion ought to read the Amber Spyglass again, because there is nothing subtle about it. I'd agree, though, that it's against oppression and abuse of power as well.
It's important to remember that good people like the Master of Jordan believed in Pullman's god as well as evil people.

51. Seriously. Who the fuck is Pit? I played PC and SEGA! And since Nintendo has basically eaten SEGA, I WANT MAH TEXAN WURM.

65. I loved Yolei. She made me less ashamed of my big fuckall glasses when I was a kid. XD Digimon needed and in-your-face female character, damnit.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
32. I find it funny how everyone's getting defensive for their own side of the argument and fail to see the point of both views. Look. Rape and incest are illegal. They are bad, bad things. But, honestly, they are fetishes. People don't really get to choose what turns their crank, and most of us feel pretty shitty about finding brothers in bed together to be attractive. You don't really have to act like a superior, okay? We're ashamed enough. It's not like we're out raping people ourselves, we're just reading about it. And yeah, it's fucked up. It's disgusting. We know. Thanks.

Most of the commenters don't sound "ashamed". They act like people who don't approve are the ones who should be ashamed.

54. WORD. Eight years ago I had the best bookmark list of stage-verse, Kay-verse, original-verse, and yestin-kolpit-verse fics and other fanworks (I've since changed internet servers and besides that, most of the links are now dead). I loved that fandom--even as a complete lurker--and it makes me sad that I can't seem to revisit it because EVERYTHING I find is movie verse (lj, ff.net, google searches). I didn't hate the movie like a lot did (although I didn't think it was very good) but I don't really want to read fanfic for it either. We should team up and be the rebirth of pre-ALW movie phandom. :)

58. THANK YOU. I didn't know JA's favorite book was that garbage until I read your secret, but I did hear that about JP. I feel like I have to ignore the fact so that I can go on watching my show, because honestly something like that makes me lose respect for people (and I only feel mildly bad about it).

8. Yeah, the original PPG had better personalities, but luckily Buttercup stayed kinda the same

22. WOAH O_O... YAY FOR GAY SEX =D

28. Alot of people Ship Noodle with Murdoc (or Noodle with 2D)... it's nothing to be ashamed about *shrugs*

32. Rape is bad, but I have no problem with incest (as long as it's not Father X Son or something like that)

40. Why does that show look familiar? X_X is it the one where they go inside the bodies? I forget...

49. I see where you're going with that (the bottom lashes) but with out the eyebrows I'm not convinced

50. Agreed (kinda)

51. Yeah, he's cool... but don't worry, we might see him again in some way, shape, or form

55. TOTALLY AGREED!!! yes, it's hot when Sasuke is in the middle XD

56. ..... BOOBIES...*ahem* what anime is that? Also, liking anime characters of the same sex won't make you gay (bi maybe, but not gay) I mean, I like tons of anime guys, but I'd never do a real guy (I think)

65. She was BASHED? O_o... I always liked her... sheesh...sorry about that X_X

[identity profile] purple-kama.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
40. You're not very far from the truth. Those characters were originally in a French sci-fi cartoon (which is where that cap is from), but they were AU-ed into two educational series, one about history and one about anatomy.

56. Yoko from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Who apparently shares Yoruichi's trait of making people question their own sexuality :D

:\ I feel the same way. I loved HDM in Junior High and had been recommending the series to my 10-12 year old students as a good series to get interested in. I still recommend the books, I think they're wonderful, but knowing Pullman wrote them to push his own anti-theist screed...it just sort of dampens the whole HDM experience.

I feel the same way about Narnia. It's too bad, I loved both those series as a kid. I wish people could just write a good series without bringing in all their personal crap.

Also, I feel kind of silly for not seeing the atheistic themes in them. At least not to the degree that he meant them to be...

51) Oh my lord. I would use no other character than Earthworm Jim if he made it into Smashies. Especially if he could pull himself out of his armor and whip the other contestants. And if I got the one-hit-kill red gun...well, that would be pretty groovy as well. As an aside: they need to release the TV show (I never saw it; was it any good?) and re-release the game as ports. Come on, Shiny!

57) Once upon a time, I shipped Jen/Roy. Still do. There were also hints of Roy/Moss in my mind. Hell, I even considered elements of Jen/Moss (especially after the S1 cliffhanger ending). But when I saw your secret, I realized that I did indeed have them as my OT3 more than any other ship I could conceive within the confines of that show.

30. Brian x Vulva FTW!!!
32. I've always had a pretty serious n/c kink, and I love that I can explore it with fanfic.
49. Holy shit. My husband plays that game lol
51. Earthworm Jim was one of my favourite games as a kid. I still play it when I'm in a bit of a childish mood. XD
59. No more insane than a fan of any other Sci-Fi show, really.
