64. It's a fun series, and I admit I was turned off to it at first, not because of the cutesy art, but because of the mangling of the title. Chibi Vampire? The series is called 'Karin' in the Japanese, which is the name of the main character.

59. I'd accept you! Although I can't speak for everyone else, it seems like I always miss these arguements until after they happen, if at all. But I'd like to think that most of our members are mature enough to not hold grudges?

60. Actuallyyyyy, I tend to try to show that? I don't know if I'm always good at it, and I have to be careful because I tend to be tempted to be TOO angsty (at times I'm tempted to allow one of my characters to have a Shinji Ikari-sized BREAKDOWN), but...I try to keep it in mind.

That being said, some characters just tend to bounce back, no matter what situation they're in, and most people would try to find SOME way to cope, because...well, otherwise, Shinji Ikari-sized breakdown. Not every character is Shinji Ikari. (Yes, I'm on an Eva binge today. I dunno why.)

As a kid, I also bashed Matt/Sora and said that it came totally out of no where.

Secretly, it was because I was bitter about Taiora not being canon, and also bitter that my Mary Sue couldn't end up being with Matt.

Almost made this a secret because that's seriously fanbrat material, but....oh well, I was like 11 or something, hopefully most people who know me know I'm more mature than that now. XD;;;

1. I've been there, I think. If your friends are cool about you not being into slash and this is simply a matter of "Oh noes! They write/draw/rp slash!" I'd say you're a poor friend to leave them. (I hate slash/yaoi myself, but I have friends who enjoy it/write it - but we all respect each other and have shared interests in other things so it works out). If it *is* a matter of them shoving it down your throat and trying to "convert" you like crazy "yaoi fundamentalists" then, well, I'd say that you should stand up for your "do not want!" and tell them that if they cannot respect your position that they need to get other friends - ones that share their interests more. There is no shame in that - people part ways due to divergent interests all the time, in real life as well as online.

20. Signed. I don't get why ANY ship NEEDS to be "canon" for people to enjoy it. I wish more people would enjoy their ships in fanfic and fanart and in PEACE rather than trying to convince everyone that their ship is "canon" or "more canon" than others.

27. Awwwwww.... ! Vash is crying! Fanart that depicts someone involved in lovin' as crying and not looking happy kinda freaks me out. That said - I once saw a very funny cosplay skit involving those three (Vash, Alucard and Dante?) It wasn't yaoi, it was a three-way battle over who was the first/had the rights to be the original badass redcoat and, in the end they all teamed up because they could do cool things with their combined powers of awesomeness. I think it was at the Otakon 2005 Masquarade.

38. I felt the same way. I was struggling not to cry in the theather because I didn't want my fiance' seeing me cry over a dog.... but yes, Sam was awesome and I *knew it was coming* but it still hit me. Animal deaths in movies often have a way of affecting me more than the human deaths do. =/

And people in the thread talked about the apparent fan-insecurity they saw regarding that in their respective fandoms.

1. Unless they're forcing it on you (which is damn hard to do, I think... I mean, are they sending you slashy fanfic/fanart personally?)... then why can't you just leave them to do what they want. If they are merely talking about it constantly to you then surely you can tell them you're not interested in it and tell them to change the subject? 1: Yes, having friends with different interests is totally impossible.

3: Well, it has no shota as of yet, but I can understand an aversion to cat ears. I've still not quite understood their importance to the plot... Of course, they don't really bother me either.

20: Huh. Usually yaoi fans tend to be the ones that don't care about their pairings happening in canon, as far as I've seen. I mean, we love to talk about subtext, but I've yet to come across someone who actually expects a yaoi couple to become canon.

54: It's nothing personal, really. Her writing just became really, really bad. I liked the books a lot in the beginning, but the plot just drowns in all the sex, and her language has deteriorated something awful (and I say this as a non-native speaker!).

66: To a lot of people in fandom it seems seriously uncool to like the main character/s. I've no idea why (though often fans have an unfortunate tendency to assign traits to main characters that they don't have in canon, just because they are main characters).
