You know, actually, I'm kind of confounded and even bothered that pregnancy is considered a freakish topic of interest by anyone. It's one of the most natural processes in the world, a process most people aspire to take part in eventually, and a generally healthy thing to take interst in, whether in real life, or through fiction. Many people will consider it one of the most meaningful ordeals they have ever experienced. It's the process of making new life. Isn't it only natural that that evokes interest and inspires character development?

Of course, I recognize there are some people with no interest in reproducing, but to go and just flippantly write it off as an abnormal or somehow maladaptive interest strikes me as odd.

Fiction almost never makes me cry, but for a few days after I watched "Tales of Ba Sing Se," just thinking about that scene made me tear up. I think it was the "In Honor of Mako" at the end that did it. And I actually kind of liked the song, but then again, I don't have the most discriminating tastes.
