THANK. FUCKING. YOU.

Like, for SHIZ, dude! I was so PISSED when I found out they'd cut Tony completely out of the Lifetime series. To be fair, she said it's because she's trying to get Tony his own series, but stil. I've always liked the Smoke series better than the Blood series.

I'm jonesing for reactions. Okay, great, we finally got some Tony/Lee where Lee's not flipping out about whatserface dying. HENRY WILL BE DISPLEASED.

[/rant]

You're my hero.

Someone else has heard of those books? HOLY CRAP I thought I was the only one!

Tony's never gonna get his own series. North America will never put a gay, ex-prostitute protagonist on primetime. :(

How does not liking something make you sexually repressed? Somehow liking yaoi and yuri makes you more...sexually open? Yeah. Sure. Ever stop to consider that, wait a second, people can not like something and NOT secretly enjoy it?

Read my secret more carefully, and I think you'll find that I never said anywhere that not liking yaoi/yuri means that you're sexually repressed, or are a big fat liar.

29: I can't believe someone actually did that. What an IDIOT!

54: I don't think most furries think of themselves as the actual animal themselves. It's an anthro thing, where they've got the traits of BOTH. Because admit it: seeing in the dark, flying, having a tail... that's all kindof cool. And while people can be awesome, people can also be complete douchebags, and being human is normal. It's not much different from wanting to be a vamppire or werewolf or something. And what's wrong with having a crazy colored skin fetish? It worked for Captain Kirk!

58: That comic is hysterical. What is it and how can I see more?

03. I personally love them together and I think very few people have respectable reasons to not like her. You're secret doesn't seen like it's made by a cray pete fangirl, so maybe you're one of those few :D

14. That's probably true. I've watched it again since I was a kid and it didn't scare me at all.

66. I don't know if this will help at all, but I guess what you could do is if you start to make it big in the industry, you could just delete your lj that traces you to the fandom, and make another one if you still want to be here, and then see what happens once you're apart of the scene before you say anything about fic. And if you decide to talk about it, just, be really chill about it and not make it into a big deal. Fic is fic, if your able to show you realize it's fiction then you can avoid problems. Hope that helped :D

Don't get me wrong, I loved that story too and my heart went out to the Dr. and Rose (even if I don't ship it) but Daleks verus Cybermen?! The fight we've all been waiting for? How can that not get more attention? XD explosion > lost love any day of the week.

~10- The thing that bothers me most about this secret is that I know for a fact that artwork is traced from NGE artwork. Why does this bother me so?
~30- SephirothxRiku? Omigosh, no. I'll always think of Seph as being his DAD, so I just can't ship them.
~36- I hear you! I like English and Japanese music and a lot of French music is good too. Actually, my favourite thing is stuff with no words at all. Instrumental is love.
~39- Oh hun, that sounds awful. Hang in there, okay? I know you can do it.
~41- I can't ship this as anything other than friendship. Honestly, I just can't bring myself to ship ANYTHING human x pokemon. It freaks me out too much.
~46- Oh no, this makes me want to ship them. She deserves someone better than Tuxedo Mask and Sephiroth might be that someone. Though, it would contradict with my like of Sephiroth x Kuja, but I don't care :D

Wow, long comment is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.

To the author of 29, and any others who feel the same way

(Anonymous) 2008-03-27 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry if I made you feel like that.

Please understand that I didn't just mention it out of the blue. I didn't just go "And OMG I'm writing a fanfic, rite, where Mohinder and Sylar have lots of really hawt smex". I wouldn't dream of doing that. I wouldn't have thought of mentioning it at all until it just seemed to come up naturally in conversation.

He had asked me what I wanted to do when I left uni. I said that I would actually love to write for television, but that I knew it was a really competitive job and didn't hold out much hope of getting into it. I said I did writing in my spare time, and then said, "Like, you know how Sendhil and Zachary suggested a buddy comedy for the two of them, 'Sylinder the Sitcom'? I had a go at writing one, just for fun."

That was it. That was all I said. Conversation continued without a break, it didn't seem to bother him at all. Maybe it was silly to say it, but it didn't seem strange or inappropriate at the time, and he didn't seem to care. Sendhil wasn't even listening to us at that point.

I don't think I made Heroes fans look bad. I didn't spend the entire night taking photos or say anything that could be construed as embarrassing. I just enjoyed their conversation and acted normally. I even let myself think that I might have presented a good example of a fan, and they might have had a good time that evening. They were really friendly to me all the way through the dinner, and still so the next day, when they could have gone back to professional courtesy.

I hope this might go some way to reassuring you that they don't now think all Heroes fans are terrifying stalkers.

OP29

(Anonymous) 2008-03-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspected that it was not quite as bad in context as your account made it sound, but it does not change my opinion all that much... I wish fans like you could actually go one day without having to bring up their fanfiction to the actors or creators.

Didn't you also ask Sendhil about Mylar on the same convention during the question round? (Which did not even have any informative value because we already know from earlier interviews with him and with Zach that yes, they know about it, and expecting them to say more on the topic is kind of sick.)
Why bring it up again? Fanfiction is not that important, really. It's pretty masturbatory, and sometimes I get the impression fans care about their own fanfic more than about the show and the guys and girls behind it. And then I do feel awfully misrepresented by people like you.

For the actor to get from "I ran with the idea for a sitcom your colleague had" to "I fantasize about your colleagues' characters having sex with each other"? Wouldn't be the most logical step.

I'd agree... if she had been talking about porn.

Re: 29

(Anonymous) 2008-03-27 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
So far, I don't think the fans have been given the actors a reason to believe that fanfiction can be anything other than slash.

Wasn't Sendhil asked about whether he knew of the Sylar/Mohinder slash fanfiction on that same day?

13 - Man, I was actually thinking about making a secret pretty much exactly like this earlier today. She had such a huge influence on my twelve-year-old self, and I've never stopped admiring her from a distance. I certainly wouldn't be the fannish person I am today without her.

I suppose it's not really a secret now, though. Whoops.

Augh, I sound like such a scary fangirl when it comes to people who shaped my fannish development. IF YOU SEE THIS, I'M SORRY. YOU'RE AWESOME.

Re: 13

[identity profile] jenioctavia.livejournal.com 2008-03-28 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I always thought I would sound like that too, until I got to meet one of my favorite fandom people (who's quite a bit well known in the West Coast cons) and she saved me from being completely alone at my first convention. When I talked to her later, I apologized for 'acting like a scary fangirl' and she laughed and said I wasn't nearly as bad as some people she's met, and that she really enjoyed hanging out with me. So sometimes you'll be surprised to know that really all they want is some one they can connect with on the things they love.

In fact it actually gave me the courage to talk to Zar without hesitating as much as I did with the other person. ^^ She really is awesome.
