17.) That book is bad to begin with. Reading a book because it's by a Mormon. O_o Wuht. Makes no sense.

31.) For those of you asking how insane Scientology gets and why you should care:

http://www.enturbulation.org/
http://www.xenu.net/
http://www.whyaretheydead.net/

And yes, L.Ron Hubbard was a racist to the core.

Re: 17, 31

[identity profile] xreddestinyx.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
It frankly bothers me more that they're racist than the "ZOMG THEY SAID I CAN'T HAS PROZAC AND I NEEEEEEEED IT FOR MY SPECHUL DISORDER!!!1ELEVENTYPEEPANTS!" thing.

But that's a problem with racism, not really with Scientology. I dunno. I don't really pay attention, it's just the people jumping on the "I hates Scientology too!" bandwagon that get on my nerves. It's like a meme now.

33. Why, that's... kind of cool.

18. Not all ships are created equal. End of story. You can still ship and like whatever you want for whatever your reasons are, but not every single damned ship is as valid or as in-character as the next. People need to stop stamping their feet and huffing about that. No one's taking anything anyway from you by pointing it out.

33. I empathize.

OP 18

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
My issue is not with a valid argument against the potential IC-ness of a ship. It has to do with judging a person's intelligence based on that ship. The former is fine, the latter makes me want to slam my head into a wall repeatedly.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
27. I FUCKING HATED THAT SHIT. I know that fangirl French used to be the cool thing back in the day (and... yeah, New Orleansn setting, it only makes sense), but it fucking sucks for those of us who don't speak the goddamn language. I mean, honestly, at least later editions could put in footnotes or something.

NS!2. Angry linguists -- hell, linguists of any sort -- are also totally sexy. ♥

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
my edition had footnotes and it bugged the shit out of me because i compulsively read foot&endnotes, but i already knew enough french to not need them.

but i was mostly irritated that it was 'fangirl french' at all. i mean honestly, it read as so pretentious and the book was already such a soap opera. :/

what

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Basket Case is totally a fandom.

11

[identity profile] karma-kalisutah.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Did you get this idea from No Exit, perhaps?

Although I'm not sure what Lucy did to deserve a place in that Hell...

11 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I don't know what that is. :(

And I'm assuming it to be one of those non-segregated, "everybody ends up in the same place" type of afterlifes. Sweeney and Lovett keeping house together in Hell could be a wacky sitcom on its own, but not useful to my objective of forcing the three of them together.

14. I have that keychain... Kuroneko, too. Vash watches out for my car keys while Kuroneko guards my house keys. I get comments on Vash sometimes, 'tis an intersting way of finding other Trigun fans IRL.

14, 34

[identity profile] lunarkitten.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
14. My sister has that keychain on her Kuroneko purse. :D

34. I reallyreallyreallyreally wish Del Rey would get the license for the Sailor Moon manga (that is, if Toei would pull the Moon Stick out of their collective butt and license the series internationally again). I don't want the license to fall into Tokyopop's hands again. ;_; I love how Del Rey has handled XXXHOLiC, but I can't say I've read too many of their other series. Still, I do like what they've done so far!

34

[identity profile] friendshipbeam.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
They should. I love that they're purists and they give attention to such an unloved genre. Their version of Pichi Pichi Pitch only had a few translation blips, and I've been meaning to read their Shugo Chara! too.

[identity profile] killcity.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
31. Fuck. I know what you mean.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
27. Heee. A lot of authors have done this. I think the difference is, is that those authors have talent and skill, as well as understanding of the language, where as fanfic writers typically.... don't have either.

29. Eh, it wasn't really that well written to be that OMG TEH SHOCK. It kinda made me laugh. But to each their own, I guess.

33. Get a new hobby, dear. I mean really.

[identity profile] valkyriur.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
#17, Umm...I'm about to make a huge generalization here, but: That's pretty typical that they'd want you to read it just because it's written by a member of the LDS church. Do they even realize what it's about?! If they did, I somehow doubt they'd WANT you to read it.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-13 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
ugh, massive fail

19 and 31

[identity profile] invisiblecake.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hugs for both of you! I know how you feel!

Also, I will always think of that "fic" as canon, even if Rockne said otherwise.

2 & 13 (11& 14... sorta.)

[identity profile] repeatvoffender.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Harry Potter secrets for me today, apparently...

2. Haha, I actually wanted one of those when I first read the book. I didn't know they actually made them.

13. I love Tonks. I had different opinions in the book and the movie, because how things were handled and what was cut out, but I'm pretty sure I was a bigger fan of Tonks in the book (although I loved them both. What's not to love about a creepy blonde girl?)

Also: 11 and 14 made me laugh. I've done similar things... to both.

[identity profile] fractalmelody.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
just because it must be said: ARLO GUTHRIE SECRET FTFW.

What? and 31

[identity profile] ladycolete.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
What: Wow! Basket Case. I haven't thought of that movie in ages. I watched it a long time ago. It was really a frakked up movie. I haven't the nerve to watch the sequels yet. Don't know if I ever will. Nice to know that there is a fandom for even that movie.

31: Not him! That saddens and angers me. Do these stars realize what frakkin morons they look like? Are they that stupid not to do their research?

30

[identity profile] friendshipbeam.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
You do realize, though, that they do have one bargaining chip for spotlight. Female character, which means more attention in official art and fandom. Walking internet meme. Tsuruya.

OP #30

(Anonymous) 2008-04-13 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Shit.

20

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
20. I'm a fanartist and I agree so hard. If you hate the pairing I love, don't fucking use my fanarts.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
01. Mimi ♥.
20. you've got a good point there. :) i agree.

[identity profile] akeningyou.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
01. Mimi = luff. <3
17. Holy crap that explains everything. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of good mormon friends. XD;; But I had this ONE friend who isn't even MORMON but lives in MORMON country (Utah, lawls)... and... well, she was big into that book. I ended up basically cutting all ties with her because she ended up being a selfish bitch who couldn't accept the fact that the whole world does NOT revolve around her.
... okay, yeah, I'm not sure how that explained everything. O.o but it felt good to rant. <3
20. XD nice smiley?
30. =''D I know, isn't it sad? I love Itsuki. Granted, Yuki is my favorite character, but Itsuki is definitly my second. x3 I love his smile. Too bad I haven't read the novels yet. I really should. o.o
33. XD That's an interesting hobby. Go you?
36. Eh. I figure you're only a furry if the person's literally covered in fur/scale/what-not. Otherwise, you're perfectly fine. =D
n!s 2. XD The angry linguist is angry thing made me giggle. But you have a point. I just figure I'll take the weeaboo thing as a joke and go on my merry little way though.
what?. . . . =''D bad... childhood... memories... resurfacing...

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
15) Oh look drama llama from Purg is anyone else surprised? Nooo? Well, alright then...ever consider that they're just trying to use the suffixes because it sounds awkward without them?

[identity profile] warplanes.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
36: Ahahaha, I lol'd.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-12 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
13 I love Tonks. She does needs more love :(

15 & 23 Do you expect anything else from Purg? The mods don't even know how to play their own characters, so heaven forbid anyone else does. I lie. Some due, but they seem to be dropping like flies.

[identity profile] boogiepop-nagi.livejournal.com 2008-04-12 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
3. You know, I suspect CTB might be into CBT, so I'd wager both acronyms work equally well for her.

18. Oh no, someone thinks the idea of a romantic relationship between a younger child and an older man acting as the child's father figure is creepy? UNFATHOMABLE! They MUST be ignorant! :V

Man, just about every fandom pairing has some deep-rooted psychological issues behind it (enablers, possessives, and family complexes, oh my!). Just learn to accept that, and not get so worked up whenever someone calls it out, and you'll be much better off.

31. HE'S one, too!? Ah, fuck...

35. Oh bah, I ADMIRE people seeking the ____ to their ____. At least they know who they are and what they want.
