No, it doesn't hurt anyone. But I still think it is a shitty thing to do. And yes, I've wished someone would be hurt before, but I've only ever thought about wanting someone dead in the "it popped into my head and I immediately felt guilty" sort of way. I just personally don't think it is okay to wish another human being dead.

In my personal view I wish at least one person dead. Guess who.

As others have said, it has less to do with CGI than with the fact that some novels are very much based on a character's internal world, and you can't always show that on film. Like, a character spending 50 percent of a book pondering the meaning of life is hard to film.

And even if you could, it might be boring (while the book might be brilliant) or so far removed from the book you ca't really call it an adaptation anymore.

Wow, you are an asshole. That was uncalled for. Just because I disagreed with your opinion doesn't mean you have to be a jackass.

To be perfectly honest, I think this is kind of a ridiculous standard for a science fiction shoe. These are not real races, and trying to understand them in a way that's detached from the standards of our world seems... Strange. I feel like the most relevant thing is what they represent in our world.

Yeah, I get that. I find her stage presence off-putting. I like playfulness, but I agree on finding this crass.

I'm anti vaccine. Not bc of her. I think people like you who won't even consider other things than "reaally unbiased super sciencey studies totally NOT paid for by big meds business" and literally just hates on anyone who DARES question our masters The Doctors...you are dangerous, and twisted.

Yeah, same.

Idk, as a lesbian myself I'm put off by it. The only message I get is that lesbians are "other" and alien. That's not even touching the canon that the Gems are genderless in the first place, which makes the whole "lesbian" thing more hazy in the first place.

Really?
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness seems like it'd be ridiculously hard to film and impossible to follow if they did the voices like they're implied.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You are an idiot.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You are the reason measles is back. Congratulations, I guess.

Who said it was you?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I may get yelled at for saying this, but I mostly agree with you. If you deliberately spread inaccurate, harmful, and ableist medical advice that ends up hurting and killing thousands...then yeah. I'm not gonna cry if you kick the bucket early.

Oh, come the fuck on

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry friendo but I don't think this one is gonna win

That's sort of harsh. I'm sort of glad she's a bit of a nobody now in terms of celebrity, but...people who are anti-vax generally are so because of misguided ideas about medicine/science and because they, ironically, want to protect kids.

I think the better solution is better education in that sense - or hell, basically just making vaccinations obligatory - instead of wishing people dead.

What the fuck, I thought it was pretty clear they were still talking about McCarthy. How self-absorbed are you?

I'm one of the people who has complained about trans headcanons a lot here, and what you say here is exactly why I hate most of them.

The vaccine thread might need watching

See I at least greatly prefer to Taylor (who there was a secret about yesterday) because at least Miley takes a lot of comments on her in stride. Or seems to. She just takes a "hey publicity is publicity" approach and doesn't get all worked up that people are criticizing the stage persona she puts forth. She just does her job which is entertainment.

There are definitely conventions of each medium that are incredibly difficult to translate to a different medium. And sometimes it's near-impossible to compensate for the difficulty or the loss of them.

Two examples that come to mind, going in the opposite direction (screen to text), are montages and music.
Both of which are annoyingly common in fanfic for my current favourite show (mostly because the show itself has a whole lot of both).
