New laptop!

I'm updating my Windows 10 to the 1607 upgrade so I can get adblock and I was about to say it's been hovering around 23/24 percent FOREVER but it just leaped to 32 so yay! Granted, there's probably another step after "preparing to install" but this feels like progress anyway.

Does anyone know a good software for monitoring temp? This thing is pretty noisy and feels like it heats up relatively fast.

Thanks to every one who recc'ed noir films to me! It turns out that the Turner Classic Movies channel (TCM) is having a ~Noirvember~ and practically all the movies you all suggested will be shown, as well as a ton of others, so I will be able to get my film noir fix in spades! Yay!!! Thanks again for all your help!

Ooh thanks for mentioning this! I haven't watched tv in a while but I'll need to look at TCM's schedule for anything I've been meaning to watch but haven't gotten a chance to yet.

I can only watch soccer of the announcers are speaking Spanish, and I don't know any soccer-relevant Spanish except "GOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!"

Yep. I watch a lot of horror films in other languages. Mostly Japanese, Korean, and French films. I have subtitles as well since I don't speak those languages, so maybe that doesn't count.

Mostly Japanese and French shows, preferably with subs, but I can struggle through a French show without them. I'll listen to music in any language so long as I enjoy the sound.

How do you feel when you look at things you wrote years ago?

It's the first day of NaNoWriMo and I got thinking of my first year and that first "novel" I wrote when I was 16. It's terrible and I love it. I think it's adorable. The mistakes don't really bother me. I like knowing how much I've improved.

I just got a fic for a Halloween fic exchange, it's a very cute story about ghosts BUT the main pairing isn't the pairing I asked for. It's actually something I don't like at all. And I would be less peeved if not for the fact that the fic is tagged with the pairing I actually DID want, but there's no sort of romance between those two characters. Grumble grumble.

It's hard! I'm trying to focus more on emotions, thoughts and feelings than descriptions of the action...and it's just going kind of bleh.
