37- I agree to a point. There is ONE difference. MOST sexual stuff is involving 100% fictional people. That is a specific event involving real people who were killed.

But I do see your point.

41- A million ♥ for trying to be original even thought you could fall back on what'd popular.

55- They probably will hen the movies come out but I still won't forgive them for the ending.

So... Apparently incestual child rape is more okay than the Holocaust? ¯\(º_o)/¯

... 'more okay than the Holocaust.' I will use that line from now on. "That's as okay as the Holocaust is!"

Fictional child rape isn't, by the way.

too Big 3 & 45

[identity profile] strandedthought.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Too Big 3 - Oz was my favorite character on the show, and because of that I'll watch anything Seth Green is in.

45- Me too! He completely ruined the end of RotK. Where'd the Scouring of the Shire go? You can't just leave something like that out.

I sort of agree with you. I don't think the people running that game had any bad intent, and I firmly believe that they just don't comprehend how personally the real Kristallnacht affects some people, still. I know I didn't, and in my head I didn't ever really equate it with other Holocaust-era stuff like, say, Auschwitz. And I'm older than those players, and better educated - it's just not something I was culturally aware of because I didn't grow up with a ton of Jewish friends who could've told me, "hey, I feel strongly about this personally."

That said? A lot of games have stuff that is a personal trigger for some. Even games I play in occasionally have personal trigger moments for me, as someone who was sexually assualted, but I don't think badly of those who RP them, and have RPed out rape plotlines myself because I don't equate what happened to me with fiction. I'm not saying everyone should be cool with everything in fiction, but as an actor and artist, myself, pretty much anything goes and if I'm not comfortable with reading, writing, or playing, then I don't. But I don't force my judgments upon anyone else.

Is Kristallnacht (the RP) a game I'd play in? No, because to me, it's weird. But I don't think the kids meant harm by it, and I don't think they were "getting their jollies off" on using that imagery.

He terrified me for many years, too. Then, one time I was watching the movie on TV and just as he appeared on screen, the lotto numbers showed up across his face. I was totally cured.

First, the RPG had nothing to do with the Holocaust or related events. It was a Harry Potter RPG in which Grindelwald came to power and a bunch of "hardcore" kids complained about how their lives sucked and they wanted to shag French boys. Those were real entries in the RPG.

Secondly, they were allowed. No one was stopping them. People were just saying that the name was chosen in bad taste, was insensitive given the subject of the RPG, and someone even offered to pay for a name change token. When people did this, the mods of the RPG threw hissyfits and called everyone names.

38. Shaman King used to be my second favorite series, and I definitely agree that it's fantastic. X-LAWS FTW! I was into the fandom about four years ago and it seemed pretty popular back then. I think part of the reason no one will give it a chance is because it is kind of old now, finished years ago, and its fandom has probably died down a lot by now. :( While Naruto and Bleach are about the same age, both are still going and have active fandoms... so :/

44. How much have you seen? I'll definitely give you that it's extremely slow in the beginning, but by 10 or so I personally really liked it and by around 21 I was in love with it. Not to mention, there's still twenty-five episodes left! C'mon, don't judge it until it's displayed all it has to offer. :)

66. Join 'Heard_of_it' they can be good at drumming up fandom.

70. I LOVE BUTTERS

73. Wait, what? This secret confused me. Do you mean you had an online journal in which you posed as him, or were you his songwriter (I thought he wrote all his songs himself, but I guess that would make this a secret), and now you... think you're him? What?

Confused Manson fan is oh so confused.

Not the OP but

(Anonymous) 2008-05-11 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I read it to mean that they wrote him at a celeb RP like [livejournal.com profile] must_be_pop (I mention that one because I know the Manson there was requested to close but I assume all probably were by Manson's representation), and now they don't anymore but they live a lifestyle that's similar to his.
