I found it awkward that L died at the 2/3 way mark, even though I wanted him to die. Maybe the Wammy kids' intro was too abrupt for me; I would've preferred a bit more foreshadowing. I'm still avoiding the manga because I'm afraid it'd be tl;dr like the subs. So, I don't think it's TEH GR8TEST SERIES EVARRRR either.

146. Because a lot of people who misjudge it are elitist asses. Some dubs are FAR better. If the person is being rational and critiquing it based on their personal perceptions of the characters and/or the acting talent that is fine... but disliking dub because it isn't the 'original' is preposterous.

You may have your opinions but for someone you care about (be it a friend or romantic interest) you are willing to accept something because you have respect or appreciation for them. Thats whats most important after all =). (for the record I'm the same way. I couldn't stand it but my friend loves it and I'm not going to destroy it because it'd be like insulting her.)

150. I'm not an expert on humanity, nor am I claiming to be.. but I can kind of understand that if she wants to whine about something on her journal, then she can. It's "her space". She's paying for it (or at least someone is, lawl), so I don't see why she can't complain about things. I've seen (and met) far worse people. It's kind of what a journal is all about - to be able to voice your opinions (btw, this isn't directed at the OP or anything), and if people are tired of that then they can just.. not.. watch the journal.

But I do kind of understand the whole double-standard thing. If she doesn't want her audiences to see her faults then she shouldn't be looking for faults in others, but she tends to do that. A lot.

You make my heart hurt a little, OP. Mostly because it seems like you enjoy Whedon's work to a degree, but as a result of things that you didn't like about it, you have jumped to some harsh conclusions. Of course, I'm probably one of the last people you want to hear from on this subject, since I'm still suffused with a feeling of awe whenever I think that I actually shook Joss Whedon's hand.

The impact a character's death will have on the audience is definitely something Whedon considers when making a decision of that sort, but it's because he's trying to connect with the viewer. He's not writing stories with the sole purpose of entertainment; he's doing what all great storytellers do -- he's trying to change the way his viewers see the world. In our day and age, where people are more likely to be worried about ruffling feathers than about delivering on something that rings true to our reality, I find this to be a valuable asset.

Believe me, I am actually a "fan" (one could say) of Whedon's work. I've actually devoted a number of years of my life to Buffy tVS and Angel. The comments about me "just not getting it" make me lol because that is not the case.

In the end, he betrayed me. There's killing one or two characters to "make an impact" and then there's slaughtering 95% of the characters (Angel? anyone?). It didn't make me change my view of the world, it just made me pissed off that the whole show was for nothing.

And I know it's a revolutionary concept, but I actually do just watch TV mainly for the purpose of entertainment. I'm really so over deepness for the sake of deepness. Whedon abused that so much he made me hate it forever.

119. EPIC FAILURE. Vocaloid/2 isn't an anime. It's a program, with the closest thing to an anime is an overlooked manga :/ Haruhi is also considered one of the best anime out there, too. Just because it's overrated like hell doesn't mean it's not good.
