105) I used to wish I were a Power Ranger. Then I realized I didn't like that the villains knew their identities instantly but they still had to keep it secret from their families. It's like the worst of each option. If I were a Power Ranger, I'd probably go on strike until the rules got more sensible.

146) It's because, having grown up with only terribly voiced, badly localized, cut-and-paste 4Kids-style dubs, in our weeaboo days we were taught that "dub = bad". Many of us have not grown out of this, and gleefully bash dubs with good voices, minimal and well done localization, and no changes to the plot or characters. It's sad, really.

I dunno, when you end the series with a dully resigned character, who barely got enough development in the movie to explain how he felt and why, whose internal conflicts never got any closure at all - it just doesn't seem like the beginning of his happily ever after.

I agree he's not the best character in the manga. I do enjoy the fact that the whole "Child of God" = TENNIS JESUS thing is a lovely source of comedic value, originally he did add a more emotionally driven aspect to this action centric shounen series with the whole hospital drama, and he's pretty. That being said, the Rikkai worshipers scare me beyond belief... especially as being someone who fully supported Ryoma's victory. -_- I think they saw him as a possible "savior" (lol) to Ryoma's boring parade of stealing the show, and blew his awesomeness out of proportion too a slightly irritating level.

104. Whut, are we reading the same series? Gokudera is no Mary Sue (or Gary Stu, to be more accurate). He didn't get saved that often either. He loses his fights because it's usually because something came up in the end before he can seal the deal (protecting Tsuna when he lost against Chikusa the first time, Belphegor cheating that made him HAVE to leave before getting blown up to pieces. Plus, both Gokudera and Yamamoto got their ass kicked by Gamma the first time they fought him. I don't remember Ryohei saving him as much holding him back when they fought Gamma, and Gokudera is saving HIM in the end. Also Gokudera isn't girly looking, seriously if the guy is good looking he's automatically girly or something or people are blind the physical differences between guys and girls. I understand your dislike for his character but seriously don't let your hate cloud your senses. There is a point why Gokudera loses most of his fights, is that he has to work hard for that right-hand man position he wants.

Because it seems to me that anyone who stars in any panel of a series, ever, can be called a Mary Sue when someone dislikes a character and needs to describe why.

It certainly isn't what the OP thinks it means. A Mary Sue is someone who comes into the story and makes everyone else completely useless zombie slaves as s/he sparkles up the world all by him/herself. Think Berii from Tokyo Mew Mew a la mode.
