First of all: Duh. It's angsty and over-dramatic. It's based more off of the movie than the book. Every Wicked fan out there knows that.

However, I can never take anyone seriously when they complain that it ruined the original, especially when the book is anything but light-hearted. It was a political satire, not some fluff book. The only thing Wicked did differently is that it was more blatant and obvious.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the musical, considering it's a Disneyfied version of the book.

101 -- agreed x10000! I've seen them in concert so many times, and they are by far the best band I've ever seen live. Only my sister understands how much BNL means to me -- she's the one who introduced me to them.

When E2E came out right after one of my good friends commited suicide, their song 'War on Drugs' really helped me through dealing with his death. So, yeah. *loves all over BNL*

111. If the translation's good, then the canon should stay the same. I'm pretty sure they did a fine job with the translation--it's such a popular book, they would've gotten a lot of flak if they screwed up.

112. I'm like that, sort of, but I'm active in fandom. As long as you can express yourself well, you can enjoy fandom. (Or even if you can't, considering there's some kids who type liek dis and enjoy fandom just fine.)

119. I think you can enjoy cute shows like those and still be a fan of "good" anime! I like to think that I like "good" anime, too--some of my favorites are really artsy stuff like Paranoia Agent. But I also enjoy shounen like Fullmetal Alchemist and just shows like Azumanga Daioh. There's nothing wrong with having different tastes...in fact, I think the best type of anime fan is someone who can enjoy a little of everything. (WAY better than the kids who only watch super-popular shounen shows like Naruto and Bleach and NOTHING else.)

122. ...Personally I think fans that think they could "do better" at dubbing than professionally trained actors are a little arrogant. I'm sure there's SOME that could do well, but it's not something "anyone" could do...

I think it's sad because I wanted a different ending. I really hated the movie and the resolution it gave to the series, it deserved a lot better. :/ Ed and Al walking (...damn, I almost wrote 'wanking') off into the sunset together while leaving everything and everyone behind is definitely not a happy end for me. (Poor Winry. :/)

If you ignore the whole "Yukimura is a God" thing - which frankly was stupid - people want to worship someone who advocates letting his vice smack people around anf letting one of his playes try to cause permanent damage to his opponents. It's scarily true how rabid Yukimura's fans are. I'd never dare say anything under my actual journal for fear of the fangirls. Besides, I have issues with the fact that he fully recovered from a fatal and non-curable disease in time to play at the end of the series. *headdesk*
