179. You have my sympathy- most people say I’m pretty arrogant, and while I know they’re right with me, I doubt they are with you. Promoting fic? I fail to see how that is very arrogant. There’s a lot of fanfic in many fandoms, like Harry Potter, and it’s easy to be hidden in the deluge. As a writer just starting to post her work, I get the need to promote your stories. It’s understandable to feel overlooked.

176. Don’t. Don’t feel like that, you rare person. There is NOTHING wrong with being honest. I feel honesty is scarce, both in RL and fandom. It’s easier to just spout lies then tell the truth. Don’t ever feel strange for being who you are—be proud, and don’t give up. I find it awesome that you’ve vowed to do that, and have actually done so-I wish I could be as honest as you. You may feel strange right now, but fear not—the truth will set you free. I’ve yet to see any of the secrets like the ones that motivated you be happy.

Also, telling an author that your story touched them is the best thing, in my books, that you can tell a writer. It makes the effort worth it. ^ ^ So, much love to you for doing that.

tl;dr- You are awesome. Don’t give up, lots of love... And I've just come off as kind of stalkerish, haven't I?

107: Frankly, that seems to be a pretty common pattern in fandom in general, but FMA fandom particularly: we torture the ones we care about. It's a way of showing love!

158: ...plenty of other commenters have said this before, but: Me too. Gundam Wing was my first real anime love. I wouldn't change the fandom for anything, crazy AUs and all.

105. I'm sure you've been told this by every other commenter and their families, but you don't have to shout it. You can just tap the button and everything's cool. Actually, I think that with the DS you can blow or snap your fingers into the mic in lieu of shouting things. Helps to know when you're playing games like The World Ends With You, in which some battle commands tell you to "shout". xD

158. Same! That series introduced me to yaoi. It kind of made me digusted with yaoi, too... :| The plot was meh, but I actually found it somewhat interesting. Lots of political drama.

176. I'm kind of a lurker, so I don't comment unless I feel strongly about something... When I hear people say things like "You've made my day!" to me, I feel that that person made my day. So don't feel stupid, because everybody likes compliments! (Unless you're one of those BNFs who always woe over their popularity here.) Maybe the person you admire is just as shy and insecure as you are. If you feel uncomfortable, it's probably just your mindset.

177. I think Negima! is a great series. It kind of does have that harem theme, but I think Akamatsu was trying to do something a bit different... I've read in random places that he was trying to diverge from the harem genre, but that he was getting a lot of pressure to continue writing in boatloads of girls. (Don't quote me, though.) But yeah, I like how strong the women are.

Is there any other reason to get into the FFVIII fandom? Certainly the game isn't worth playing. (And for the record, I've played it twice. I was young, bored, and penniless. The only reason I'm not pissed at wasting all those hours of my life is that I can make up for it by reading Seifer/Zell fic. And let's not forget all the Leon/Cloud that KH brought about.)

Haha, agreed. The only good thing about the game was some of the fanfic it produced, IMO.

102: "Rope" is a wonderful movie, and I assumed that the homosexual undertones would have fandom scrabbling to it. I suppose I was a little wrong on that count. Still, I'm glad people can appreciate it.

103: How often to Christians tell you that fandom is unhealthy? I can't imagine that being a very regular occurrence.

145- lol I know how you feel! That movie is amazing! One of my favourites too probably if I’m being completely honest....

147- I AGREE SO MUCH! And am I the only one who actually think these two wouldn’t have been that good as Bella and Edward anyway?! I actually think that they’ve got the casting of all the characters (yes Jacob included!) pretty much spot on. And sometimes I feel completely alone in this opinion...

150- Me too. I love them all equally. They all brought something new and there are bits of all of their characters that I can relate to. I hate the fact this fandom constantly makes us feel like we have to pick between them- they’re all equally awesome! :D

131: I love this fandom. It's inspired me to write fanfiction for the first time in at least two years LOL. The last fandom I've ever written for was uh... D. Gray-man, I think, when it was still obscure and little.

I am like your former self, and I will love you forever if you can tell me exactly when the episodes stop sucking (aka when do the fillers end and where should I time leap to), because I am slowly marathoning but I'm quickly giving up hope. OTL

Dunno if you got there yet, but things should start getting interesting somewhere around the Vongola Ring saga- around episode 34.
Stick through that, and then there's another twist, at which point I started really liking it :)
requires some suspension of disbelief, because apparently keeping the plot together isn't quite the mangaka's strong point, and there are some plot holes, but just flow with it, and it's quite a fun shounen.
