I didn't get this across very well in my actual secret, but I was a little more worried about the animal than the person who named it. Fandoms can be kind of like passing whims, whereas pets are big commitments. When I see someone name their new kitten after their favorite character of the week, I worry that the care for/enthusiasm about the animal might pass like the obsession with that character. Sort of like how getting little kids bunnies for Easter presents is a bad idea.
I've always been proved wrong, because my friends who name their pets after fandom are still wonderful pet owners, but it's a worry at the back of my mind when they get new pets. It's not logical, but that's why it's a secret, isn't it?

Unless they've specifically gone out to buy a pet just to name it after their new, fictional snuggle-bunny, then there probably isn't anything to worry about, especially if they already have other pets. They're likely to treat it just fine, assuming that's how they treat the others (if they have any.)


Getting a set of pets, naming them after an OTP, and then trying to get them to mate just because it means their OTP had babies together! ^____^, on the other hand, is just creepy.
