145 - I completely understand that. When I was younger I loved that movie.

151 - Me too. Me too.

116) SUBLIMINAL SECRET IS SUBLIMINAL

Also, I lol'd.

140) Clever secret is clever.

142) It's probably sad that I liked the Zero Punctuation review more than I liked the game.

152) THAT IS TOTALLY AWESOME. And now I want that light for my room so I can spraypaint it to look like Pineco.

150 & 160

[identity profile] redstapler.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
150. WORD. They're all awesome. I think Donna's currently my favorite though, just for sheer competence, maturity, and awesomeness. Especially after the most recent episode.

160. HAHAHA. Close. Obama's actually The Master. Vote Saxon Obama!

(I will vote Obama, btw.)

Personally, I think Negima can be called empowering simply because it shows that a woman can be sexy AND tough as all hell. She doesn't have to be one or another. She can kick ass, take names, AND look good in a miniskirt or bikini.

None of the characters are piegonholed. They all have so many facets...I don't there there is a single one-dimensional character in the series that I have seen yet. So there's nothing wrong with calling it a kickass series and female empowering.

120) BSB uwah. Don't be ashamed, SCREAM YOUR LOVE like I do.

120. I was a Howie girl back in the day.

128. All I'm going to do now while I watch the first season is think of this.

145. Awww, Secret Garden! <3

150. I love all three but not equally. DW fandom (the crazy parts at least) loses for not seeing how awesome each one of them is in their own way.

162. Are all Anders/Kara fans in the fandom like that? I doubt it. Kara can have Lee or Leoben for all I care. I want Anders for myself.

166. SNAPEWIFE!!!

Re: 162

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
162. If wanting her to end up with Leoben is hotdirtybadwrong, I don't wanna be right. The more mindfuckery a pairing has got, the more I love it, and bb, that thar's some Grade-A Prime MindfuckeryTM.

125. HAHA OH MAN. YES. ♥

139. Possibly because you can think more clearly when on the 'net? I have this same problem and get really tense and nervous when thinking back on how I interact with people in real life, but what I do on the internet is more controlled. You aren't the only one. *hug*

152. Maybe that's a sign that you need to buy that lamp.

174. Agreed! I think it would be hilarious awesome hilariously awesome if she turned around and was like "you know what, Sasuke? *SAKURA SMASH*".

That would make...my life.

105: I'm sure about 10938125r87932984q32 people had said this already, including that r, but you don't actually have to do that??? You just press buttons. Shouting objection etc is optional.

I thought cartoons were people in costumes filmed through a special lense.

I got so confused when one day the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeared on Oprah (for when they did that concert tour-thing) when the cartoon was to air next. I wanted to know how the hell they expected to get from Chicago to NYC in time! LOL.

154

[identity profile] shiny-starlight.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
154: I feel the exact same! My college friends always went out getting pissed, but I was much happier at home writing fic. They couldn't understand it. But fanfom rocks.

Too Big 1

[identity profile] starchildorion.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You made me lol hard core.

YOU'RE ALL REALLY AWFUL

ALSO YOUR GIRLFRIENDS ARE UNFULFILLED AND ALIENATED

152.

[identity profile] bizzlefout.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
fuck.

i work at ikea, and now i'm going to think the same thing because i see that lamp every day.

[identity profile] flutingfrenzy.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
105. Haha, I'm sure other people have set you straight on this, so I'll just say that even when I was playing at home, alone in my room, and got up the courage to do the voice commands, I could only manage a little stutter of an "objection". Silly me.

144. The problem I would have with that is that if your cat lives for seventeen years, and your interest in that fandom lasts five years, you've got this cat named after something you don't even care about for twelve years. So if you're going to do that, better to choose a character with a more generic-sounding name, from a fandom you think you're more likely to stay in for a very long time. On the other hand, I don't see anything wrong with naming, like, goldfish or electronics after fictional characters.

(Anonymous) 2008-06-09 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
144. I'd think only a particularly obsessed person would have a problem like that >_> I have a cat named after a character whom I no longer particularly care about, from a fandom I no longer give a single damn about, and it's not like I think about it every time I say his name, or be all "I'm tired of your name" when calling the cat. It's just his name now; simple as that. Doesn't matter where it came from anymore.

[identity profile] chiixhideki.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
109. It was so sweet ;A; But yeah, I'm still all for Yuuki/Zero. X3

152. JUST.. LOL EPIC

[identity profile] neon-geisha.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
101. LOLZ! Best secret ever. I remember I confused the hell out of my mother (who is part Turkish) once when she overheard me talking about them. XD

105. I'm playing the first game now (lol, slowpoke.jpg. also, it's all YOUR fault, F!S.), and so far, you don't have to do that. But it is fun! I just yell all sorts of crap when I'm playing.

112. D: D: D: D: D: I... I wasn't even aware there WERE people who hated Yuna. That hurts me deep in my soul. Do you even have a REASON for hating her beyond the fact that she's a female character? She's strong and self-sacrificing and caring, and she has a great deal of character development. I just don't get why you would hate her so much.

116. You have no idea how much I agree.

141. I hate that "strong, capable, self-sufficient female character" now means "Mary Sue" in Fangirlese.

144. My cats have fandom and non-fandom names. It's picking a name that fits the personality or appearance of the pet - no different from non-fandom people naming their pets Snoopy or Garfield or Simba, really. Children are a whole other story, but I don't think naming pets after fandom characters means you're anything other than, well, a fan.

177. This secret may just motivate me to read Negima. I was waffling on it because I heard it was a harem, but now I might consider reading it.

180. That is a freaky fucking picture, but from a makeup standpoint, kind of a cool idea.

IAWTS. >__> *thumbs up*

109, 114

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
109. on the one hand, it would be nice if i could watch the anime without readers of the manga vomiting spoilers EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE (yes i know there's a spoiler warning on this comm, but it was not this secret that spoiled this little plot point for me). on the other hand, as a zero/yuuki shipper, slash also makes me very happy. XD

114. i don't even know who the hell that is.

105

[identity profile] monsterepellant.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, you don't have to yell it out loud. I own all of the Phoenix Wright ones (I didn't buy the Apollo Justice one yet), and you can just press A and B. Or tap the pointer onto your screen. You dont' have to say anything.

168

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
who is that with dresden?

Re: 168

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be Abigail Irene Garrett.

[identity profile] dried-frog-pill.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
129. *flails* ♥

161. I like to think he is, anyway :) It would make the afterlife just that much cooler.

168. Intriguing pictures are intriguing. Anyone know what series they are from?

[identity profile] madmorrowmarch.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I know the guy's Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

No idea who the girl is, though. Anyone got a clue?

That's just because the Earthbound fandom is fucking small and everyone's overly friendly.

With that said, please join us. I'd love to see your works! There's not enough fic to go around.

106. Oh my god that picture is terrifying.

123. Sigh, me too. That film fucked me up for at least three days. But I love it.

128. Srslyyyy

143. LOLOLOL. I adore Joanna to death and I've grown to love her voice, but I totally agree with you. Hahaha.

145. I used to rent that from my elementary school library weekly. I still love it.

[identity profile] agentphillips87.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
180) I thought the same thing when I was a little kid (and am I the only one not freaked out by the picture? It's not that weird a concept, I've seen it in advertising before and in PotC for crying out loud! Sure those are big eyes but still, not that freaky)

[identity profile] amphritie.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)

You are not alone! That is my favorite movie EVER (and I love the book).

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
123. What got to me was the plastic flowers he gave her, and you hear him say, "they're not real, so they'll never die," I actually had to pause the movie and sob.

126. Oh, shit, man, nothing to be ashamed of there. My fucking dad thinks he's hot. (...that was probably TMI, but...erm...)

139. Y HELLO THAR, ME.

154. Latter nerds, unite! :D Fandom >>>>> parties. (Unless they're parties that are just full of all your other nerdy friends talking about fandom and playing PS2, Wii and Xbox until 8am, like the party I went to last night. IT WAS EPIC.)

171. Heh, it's funny, 'cause my best friend and I are backwards (she's the Wilson), I still watch the show religiously, and I still ship them religiously. But it's kind of an unspoken obvious knowledge that how I feel about the men on screen does not project how I feel about her, so it doesn't really bother us at all.
