This was inspired by Stitchers, that just recently got cancelled. I genuinely liked the show, but it had so many flaws and had three seasons to fix them and really grow a following, but just kind of stayed mediocre.

Hemlock Grove. It was interesting and had potential, but season 3 was off the freaking rails.

i was madly in love with faking it

but its driving premise was never going to last more than a couple of seasons even before the network fucked the show over

Sense8. I loved the characters but it's clear that the plot was going nowhere and doing nothing.

I thought Parks and Rec could have done with about a half-dozen fewer "goodbye" episodes.

I'm not sure "deserved" is the right word, but I think three seasons of Hannibal was the right amount. As brilliant as the show is, the third season was a weird meandering mess and they pretty much touched on everything they could do with the show. Continuing past the Season 3 ending would just be beating a dead horse.

I'm trying to read authors who have a full redemption arc for Controversial Bad Guy and "acknowledge his flaws," and honestly, it all seems like overkill to me. I don't think he's nearly as evil as they portray him, and I don't think he needs "redemption" so much as he needs a friend who can break through his self-loathing. Apparently, that means I'm "woobifying" him and being blind to his misdeeds because he's hot.

I am also wondering about the rules regarding what streaming service the movie must be on. Right now, it must be on Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu.

But it has some major flaws in that different countries have different movies available AND services like Amazon have subscriptions you can get (HBO, Starz, etc).

I only added this requirement to weed out troll nominations. I believe that most people will be able to find any popular movie pretty easily on the internet.

So, should I just keep it to those three services (with the understanding that some countries will not have it)? Add more services? Ban subscriptions you have to pay extra for thru Amazon?

Or can anyone think of another way to ensure nominations are legitimate movies (so no student projects and such) and actually watchable (so no nominating a movie that came out in theaters 2 weeks ago, etc)?

This is the first Movie Club test edition. This will be a fairly short nomination/voting/watching period as this is bit of a test.

Nominate: Monday and Tuesday (Today).
Vote: Wednesday and Thursday.
Watch: Friday until next weekend (September 30th-October 1st).

Theme: There will be NO theme for this period. Any movies welcome.

Rules (subject to change):
-One nomination per person.
-Must be streaming on Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu.
-First 15 nominations will be chosen for voting.

On discussion weekend, I will post some questions to get the conversation started. Feel free to talk about anything else in the movie you want!
