114. I think Harry Potter is one of those fandoms that will never truly die. It's on such an epic scale, that I think it will always have something to be written for it, or expressed in some way.
Not to say it's on the same level as it, because it's totally not, but HP is a lot like Star Wars. It's one of those huge things that will always be remembered, I think.

Although, I have to say, if I played a character that had an RPG worthy fandom, I'd probably play them too. And write awful horrific fanfiction, just to watch the fandom purists scream, while I cackled maniacally from behind my screen. Just, you know, maybe.

130. Me, neither. Although, I have to say when Rose was sobbing at the wall, screaming for them to take her back, and she puts her hand on the wall, and the Doctor puts his hand on his wall? I got a little teary. But not the whole 'goodbye' scene.

143. I think because Jack has his own show, he's moved on from the 'companion' place in people's brains and into a more independant place, if that makes any sort of sense. I love it when he's on Doctor Who, though. He adds so much to the dynamic that I think the other companions lack.

152. ME, TOO. You're right about butt and ass not being much better, but every time I see arse in fanfic, it's so...jarring. I have to pause, and then go back and read the sentence again, this time editing it out with a different words. I'm usually all for British terminology (I even spell my words the British way most of the time (a product of beta-ing for my Australian friend)), but arse is one word I don't think I'll ever be able to adopt.

I agree 100%. L was a good character and all, but Light's death was so tragic. Because L died doing what he pledged to do, he lived his life doing what he wanted to do, happily. But Light was younger and corrupted, corrupted by the power of the Death Note. He lost love for his family and friends and ended up spiraling downward in his tragic life, finally to his ultimate undoing. I bawww'd ]:

144. I always thought they had good chemistry (plus, yay backstory?), and I ship them like woah. Still, not too much new fic being written, and some of the old stuff is crap.
But if you're looking for alternatives, sam/will is where it's at. (Though I think pocky_slash and scrollgirl are the only ones writing for it, unfortunately.

102. I'm still confused by how much I love Tohru, given that I almost never like female leads. But I don't think she's a Sue at all. Her characterization is consistant, belivable, and her eagerness to please is actually a huge flaw.


108. Love to know that I'm delusional because I don't have as much sympathy for "I love this awesome guy and he totally doesn't love me back like that." Play a tiny violin. I've lost count of the times it's happened to me, but I can remember the worst one. Yeah, there were cry-yourself-to-sleep nights after watching him cuddling his equally amazing girlfriend, or spending time with him etc, but they were few and far between, and mostly...not exactly heart-breaking. It hurt, but it wasn't terrible. It wasn't terrible like losing someone you love forever.*

And honestly, I guess because someone as emotionally unstable as myself managed to grin-and-bear-it, mostly have a wonderful time, and get over it fairly quickly, I just don't have the same kind of sympathy for someone who doesn't. It gets on my nerves like mad.


*yes, yes, she's coming back, but still, when they parted, they thought forever.

I still have books that I stay up late-late-late to read, but yeah, I miss that fun, that gathering in the bookstore, the costumes, the dorkiness, even from the staff, the gabbing and coffee and "oh man, three more hours, what do you think is going to happen?" and especially the getting home, fixing a mug of butterbeer, and setting down for the long-haul. I have a lot to complain about with those books, but man oh man, I miss it.

108) Honestly, I find neither of their stories remotely tragic. They both were enfatuated with a man who is intensely exciting to be around but is the hugest commitmentphobe ever to grace TVland. They both had an awesome time, and ended up with committed boyfriends (Mickey put up with his mistreatment like a champ, I don't know who Martha's fiance is, but I trust her judgement). Rose got back her dad. Martha got a pretty kick-ass exciting job with UNIT. Really, what's to moan about? Compared to being dead, or having your family destroyed and then the quarter of the universe your home planet happened to exist in wiped out, they both had it soft.

142. Uh, okay, there's really no problem with being a little overweight, but if you are UNHEALTHY? That's NOT something to be proud of. It's fine to be proud of yourself, to be secure in how you look and like it, but that song? Is not about being obese and having health problems. It's about being overweight and not giving a crap if other people are going "OMG YOU DON'T WEIGH 100 POUNDS U FATSO!!!!" It says nothing about not giving a crap if you're, yanno, slowly killing yourself with your weight.

Be proud of yourself, but be proud of yourself as being skinny as much as you were the way you were. That song's about being proud of yourself, no matter what, and you're still the same person- just healthier, which means you have the chance to be happier.

151. See, it's when you start saying "I WILL BE GOD" that you're fucked. And stupid. And dangerous, which is where I think Light went wrong. It wasn't his killing people on death row that was bad (wtf, police, at hunting him down for THAT one), it was him snapping and having delusions of grandeur.

A world with a Death Note would probably not be the best place ever. But a world ruled under total tyranny of a person who could kill anyone they wanted, at any time, would be hell.

I can't help but thinking "arse" sounds silly if not being said by a European person (or character), and I even tend to avoid ass and butt if it's not a scene that's meant to be kind of sharp and dirty, or kind of amusing. Otherwise, for just sensual or sexy things, I tend to just... skim over the silly sounding words. XD

FUN GAME: TRY TO THINK OF ALL THE BODY PARTS YOU CANNOT NAME DURING PORN WITHOUT IT SOUNDING RIDICULOUS. GO ON. TRY IT. Too much unsexiness in the English language, h-haha. XD;

154. Not gonna rant or anything, but I just- okay, seriously, how can you hate an entire storytelling medium? There are animes about pretty much anything for any audience and age range. It's kind of like saying "I hate all books!" or "I hate all movies!" At least to me, anyway. :/

Exactly. And this is where Death Note went wrong, for me anyway. The moment Light went "I will be god" the story lost all the moral ambiguity it might have had and it stopped being interesting. Because yeah, we can argue about the efficiency of judiciary systems, capital punishment, whether it is right or wrong for someone to do what Light did, or whatever, but once the character snaps, develops a god complex and envisions a brave new world where everyone is completely at his mercy, the debate is over.

And yet there are still people who wish he'd won. Wtf. (Sure, most of them are just people who think they're hardcore for supporting Light, and may grow out of it sooner or later, but still.)
