And realy, what's wrong with a bit of escapism? Some people shit bricks when Disney changes the original story in order to make the girls more assertive, but then the other half ridicules them for having fairy tale princesses as icons--um...they're classics. Kinda hard to knock them after they've been a part of Disney history for 50+ years. O_o

For some authors, writing and creating characters is very personal. When they see other people using their characters, it feels like theft. You are using something that doesn't belong to you in the slightest. It's not that they don't want you to keep thinking about it. Writing essays and speculation is one thing. Writing up derivative works is another.


/Anne Rice is batshiat. If you don't want people to write Fan-Fiction, there are classy ways of going about it. I.E. George R.R. Martin. If you don't want it, don't allow it, but be classy about it.

Crap, I was so huge into the Next Generation thing back (baaaaaaaack) in the day. So I will be nostalgic for a moment, and then:

The whole love of Bra and Marron is in retrospect confusing like crazy. Marron was in like three episodes and had about the same amount of lines. Bra--same thing. It really seems to me like they're just convenient "fill in the blank!" characters who you can breathe whatever personality (like your own!!) you want into and then pair up with Trunks and Goten -- I mention this because the secret specifically points out those two girls and those two guys.

If it makes you feel better, I'm laughing at myself as I write this, too. LET'S KICK THE WANK OLD SCHOOL.
