108. This is why people need patience when reading books. XDD
(Although the middle was really boring, so...yeah.)

156. is it weird that I am really happy that Rock Lee had the most expression on his face out of all of those? XD
But yeah, he really needs to start using facial expressions that are not =|.

You're not the only one that feels that way.

Him and Amuria. :|

107. AGREED SO MUCH. Though I think part of that came from the fact that he was my favorite character for a while a few years back (still is pretty near the top of my list), but it was always impossible to find fic that wasn't bashing all over the place, or try to RP (at least at the places where I hung out) without being picked on to an extent and, uh, yeah.

133) I agree with you so much. I'm turning 28 soon and fandom is for anyone of any age. :) Thing is, there will be fandom killjoys and you just ignore them. I've come across a lot of them (and still do) and it's not my problem; it's theirs. Not my problem they're tightasses and take things way too damn seriously (and have vendettas against me for whatever trifle reason) Luckily, I've been finding new people who enjoy my fandoms so we're having LOTS of fun. ^_^

Ignore the Captain Bringdowns and just have some fun.

133 bonus...

[identity profile] mekkio.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
133. What those kids who whine about adults in fandom forget is that the people who are writing the books, making the shows and creating the comics are all adults who are much older than themselves. The reason why the creators got into it in first place was because they were fans themselves.

RTD was a huge fan of Doctor Who as a kid and still is, so he brought back the series. The creators of Avatar were in love with anime and kung fu movies, so that's where that show came from. J.K. Rowling was in her thirties when she started to write about Harry Potter.

If these people had listened to these kids then we would never have had any of these great fandoms. And the kids would have nothing to whine about.

So, again, shut up, you, young punks, or else us, adults, will take our creations and only share it amongst other adults.

#110 - Yellow, then Crystal, are my faves! :) (Bring back the cute Pikachu that follows you wherever you go, hee! And getting all three starter Pokemon, yay. :D)

102 The Geneon news has me concerned. I'm so in the dark of what's happening. (@_@)
103 Sorry, but I am really mad that he got casted as the Joker. I'm going to the midnight preview and everything (even dressing up) but I just hate the idea of people going nuts over him dying than the actual character. >:/
106 Ditto. (sighs) Just looking at the poster has been wanting to bang my head against something hard.
114 EDWARD NORTON. ♥ That scene was hawt. (sizzle)
116 I've defended one aspect of this and bashed another. Reading this makes me want to slap myself. Thank you, anon.
120 I like ABBA. I've been to the Mamma Mia! show for my mother. I'm *not* looking forward to the movie, though. I can't even explain it because it doesn't make sense to me.
123 Take a little bit of something out of everything. There's no shame. Why should anybody care about what gave you hope or strength or pulled you through a hard time? :)
125 I think I know who you are and I want to slap you. ♥
127 This made me "d'awww~!". I love Akito but I can understand why people wouldn't like him. He's cute. As I've said, I like him. But I don't think there's anything wrong admitting you don't like him.
128 I don't like that pairing so much, but when you phrase it like that... DO WANT!
133 I hope that I will still be in fandom and lolita when I'm older. I hope that one day I can be sort-of like you, except proud. :)
134 (ROFLMAO) YOU WIN A COOKIE FOR MAKING ME LAUGH, ANON. Sotrue.
143 ♥♥♥ I was thinking about making a secret similar to this, but I'm kind of glad that this was made because it's better than anything I could come up with. ♥♥♥
156 Don't know that artist, but I see what you're saying. There's an artist in my fandom I feel that way about. (>_>)
NS!01 WTF...? ♥

If you're curious about it, today at AX Funimation announced they're going to be releasing some of Geneon's titles. I don't know if it's the one in the secret though...

My biggest pet peeve about fanfiction- the mistreatment of Peter Pettigrew’s character. He was one of the Marauders; you can’t just ignore him or vilify him or do away with him. His friends had a legitimate reason for liking him, and if he was obviously evil at that age, no one would have doubted that he faked his own death. GTFO.

[identity profile] slatterly.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
106. ...You know I actually had some hope for that movie. Before I saw any pictures from it. Yiiiiiiiiiiii do not want.

114. I'm pretty sure Fight Club was supposed to be homoerotic, actually. In a lot of extremely weird ways, because Chuck is like that. So... it's probably not your fault?

117. Hah I was just watching that. He seems to flirt with a lot of the female guests, though. Probably because it'd be creepy if a straight guy did it, I guess.

123. I don't think that's pathetic at all. I think all the best fiction tells us something about ourselves or the world around us - if it didn't, it wouldn't be quite as fun.

153. ...This is odd for me because I have a friend who looks quite like David Tennant who sometimes acts like he is James Bond. So... that would be a very confusing movie for me I think. Not that it wouldn't also be pretty awesome, though.

156. Yeah, I've seen a few artists like that. It's depressing.

[identity profile] wasabi-girl1.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
#116 - Also, though I wouldn't say I hate Harry Potter (how can I hate something I've never read?), I was very put off by its popularity. Everyone constantly telling me it was amazing and that I needed to read it made me want to do the exact opposite. :P Sorry.

133

[identity profile] diefbaby.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
133 - Are you me? ^-^ Honestly, I have the same feelings and I'm 31. It's definitely become more difficult to be in some fandoms and to be older than the majority of the other fans. This is especially true in anime fandoms! I feel like I have to keep my fandoms a secret too.

Drop me a line, we can commiserate together. :)

131

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Would I be able to come with you?
Plz?

Preeeeeeeeeeeetty plz?
Better yet, could I sneak in a kiss?

[identity profile] batty-gal.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
107 - THANK YOU! That's the real test of a writer for that era: putting aside prejudice against that certain character. Shoot, that's the test for a writer for ANY series that has characters in it that they don't like.

108 - LOL two HP secrets back to back. Honestly, you didn't miss much. You can probably skip the first half of the book (well, after reading the first two or three chapters). The book was Meh, though it had its moments.

128 - LOL, not in the fandom but I can substitute that exact message for quite a few fandoms I'm in and agree.

133 - I'm 27, and I don't give a damn what people think about my old fogey ass being in fandom. It's my escape, and no different than people who simply watch tv, or knit, or who have any other hobby. Don't let ageist make you feel like you shouldn't be here -- they aren't paying your bills so fuck them.

146

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
146. Wow, your secret is so made of fail is kind of hilarious. You complain about how people should develop their own style yet three of the four pictures you used are by CLAMP (two of which are the same series). Of course their work is going to look similar!

And whether you like CLAMP or not you have to admit they do have their own style.

Re: 146

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG LOL, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU NOTICED THAT. YOU MUST BE A GENIUS OR SOMETHING. three of the pics are from CLAMP, well duh, CLAMP is a major offender of my laws.

well of course they have their own style, i DID just spend part of my secret bashing it, after all. maybe you should read it. Try harder next time.

[identity profile] lunais-cross.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

WTF, self?

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Take it to the comments:

NO U. You're the newfag if you don't know the difference between a namefag and a tripfag or that's there are some respectable tripfags as well. Not a lot but very few in number, of course.

Utter, utter fail there.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-05 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
And you fail reading comprehension, kid.

Read the secret again, there's a word in there that reads 'mostly'. Find it? Good boy! Now open some online dictionary and look it up. You'll find that, among other things, it isn't synonymous with 'all'. The more you know!

You might also notice in your rereading that the secret is ctually bitching about the stupid fangirls instead of whatever imaginary thing it was that disturbed your delicate feelings, but maybe I'm asking too much.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)

153. As much as I like David, he would make a terrible Bond. Give Craig a try, you won't be disappointed.

[identity profile] downburst.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
too big: I AGREE WITH THIS FUCKING COMMENT

153

[identity profile] arachnidism.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like you'll never see a Bond movie.

Thank god.

[identity profile] tenmorehours.livejournal.com 2008-07-04 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
123. Seeing Harvey and Death Note in the same secret just MAKES MY DAY. Thank you OP!

133. I think adults that are in fandom are AWESOME. We need more adults in fandom! One of the fandoms I was heavily into a while back, Lord of the Rings, was filled with people twenty years older than me, and I loved it. I think older fans are the ones that tend to really dig into things and make me discover new things about the shows I like. I get excited about it. So please don't feel like a loser!

134. LOL XDDD OH man, great, now I'm going to be thinking about that every time I get a gift.

156. ...It does look very similar. XD;;

114, 123, 133, 150

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
114. I didn't consider it hot as such, but the scene did give me a massive kink for exactly the type of shirt Edward Norton's wearing.

123. I'm pretty much the same, and I did think it a little... odd, to say the least. But then I realised that a lot of who I am is also taken from books/movies I've read/watched for school and university and work, and then I realised, well, everybody's like that. The only thing that may vary is the source material, and whoever tries to divide that into better and worse is a moron.

133. (Similar age here) Don't think I've ever met anyone in real life who'd be into any fandom. Better yet, most people I know equate anything animated with children's entertainment, just to give you an idea of their mindset. I am, however, conversant enough in all of my fandoms to be able to impress if I so wish. Therefore, whenever someone as much as thinks of being disparaging, I impress. Kind of like smiting, except with extra smugness :D

150. I've always felt it was disrespectful and weird and even gross (and I'm pretty hard to gross out) to "fap" to images/ideas of real people (I wouldn't judge anyone who did it, it's just my personal HELL NO EWW thing). Fictional characters, on the other hand, I consider fair game - they are made to be appropriated and processed by an audience, so to speak, to trigger emotions and establish a connection. ... (I had typed a very long explanation of my line of reasoning here, but then I deleted it because it got way too convoluted :)) Summing up, I've always been a characters yes, people no kind of person.

Re: 150

(Anonymous) 2008-07-04 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
(Not the OP)

150. Me too, with the added fact that I'm in a relationship, so if I'm *not* thinking about the person I'm actually dating, and thinking about a real person - for me that'd be cheating even if I wanted to do that. I don't feel so bad about thinking about two (or more) fictional characters (and I'm *not* putting myself in the scene -- just them).

(Also why I prefer drawn or book characters for, ahem, such purposes -- no thoughts of the actors intruding.)

123: I don't think that's pathetic, OP. It can't be pathetic or bad if if taught you so many things.

133: I can only imagine what that must be at 33, if some people think it's stupid to be 18 and like "japanese cartoons". Ugh, good luck.

106. .........dude, he's not even Asian. e__e

133. The oldest person in fandom I know is 52, and I've never felt anything but respect and admiration for her. The fact that apparently age matters to some people both saddens and shames me.

146. I kind of agree. At the very least, I can't watch/read certain shows/manga because the art scares me. D:

147. So if I say bishie despite being 21 does that make me secretly a prepubescent girly girl? :'( Woe.
