101. I totally agree with you. WALL-E may be the most heartwrenching and lovely movie I have ever seen.

133

[identity profile] justabookman.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even know what the hell that is, but that's great. XD

109. Aww. Must disagree. That is the single best anime/manga ever created. It stands the test of time. (Even if the anime's ending was a little wonky.) Crazy rabid fans do tend to ruin it for everyone else though.

169. Naruto (the character) is love.

Glad I'm not the only one.

You are not alone. Trust me.

160. I remember the animation for it. It was beautiful.

160

[identity profile] maruthecurious.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I, sadly, didn't have the book as a child, but my Pre-Calc teacher read us math-themed picture books sometimes and that was one of them. :D

The Dot annoyed me too. The Line deserved someone way better.

Relevant question: Do you also go around bitching that the stars of most TV shows are men, the main characters of most books are men, and the stars of most non-computer animated films are men?

Re: 129

(Anonymous) 2008-07-08 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they do, considering that it's a problem that's perpetuating all forms of media. I think that the OP just chose Pixar for the secret in question because it's a large movie maker that rakes in money off of stories that show personal growth, heroism, and development. With no female leads. See the problem? And actually, it's a pretty relevant issue in all forms of media, like I said, but OP just chose to address one form/particular company.

tldr; You just made yourself look like a gigantic dickweed.

118

[identity profile] cyren-2132.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
There is a big difference between "fluff" and "not porn."

[identity profile] milkshaketears.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
153. YES YES YES YES :----D I thought of Light too when I saw Ichi on Paranoia Agent.

129

[identity profile] arisha.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
I would not get awkward and ignore you! I am actually sitting here surprised that I never noticed this myself. But wow. Now it's gonna bother me, too.

133, 160, 163

[identity profile] seikochan.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
133. You are amazing. I wish I lived close enough to a playground to try this.

160. I want to read/watch that so badly now. :<

163. AH! I remember those! ;o; I remember those little chocolates and collecting them and my grade-school teacher telling us that if we wandered off from the group on our fieldtrip, they'd come for us.

150.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-08 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
I just ignore them. Then again, after an anime marathon lately, I've found myself wanting to say "demo" a lot. I've never learned Japanese and don't really plan to, so I can only guess from the subs that it means something along the lines of "but". I find it amusing that all my favourite shows use the word "but" so often that it actually filtered into my brain :) ... ... (thankfully, I'm still controlling it. Might slip out one day, though)

148

[identity profile] xmchord.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Almost a secret but because I watched It's a Wonderful Life when I was a little girl, I've had a crush on Jimmy almost my entire life.

153

[identity profile] speaky-bean.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It makes me feel kind of bad to see people thinking they aren't comparable. Yes, Paranoia Agent is magnificant, but I think Death Note is too, just not quite in the same way. And I always thought Ichi and Light were really similar too.

109

[identity profile] arashi-tenkai.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
IMHO, YYH > DeathNote, Geass, whatever crap they churn out now. Seriously. YYH was my first fandom and will always have a special place in my heart as my first anime.

160

[identity profile] circus-pink.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy shit, I didn't think anyone remembered that. I loved that cartoon. I didn't know there was a book! (youtube and library ho!)

160, 163

[identity profile] capn-mactastic.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
160: OMG the Dot and the Line!!! I remember that cartoon! For years I thought I'd dreamed it!

163: OMGWTFBBQ Yowies!!!! I remember when you used to get them in Kinder Eggs!

OMG I am so old...
ext_27003: (Discworld: dark sarcasm)

118, 168

[identity profile] sans-pertinence.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
118. Since when does not-porn = fluff? Ever heard of gritty, plotty, canon-compliant gen fics? Sometimes those'll give you more canon-feeling "this is why I ship such-and-such pairing" than any pairing-specific fic around.

168. It's worth losing the thread of a movie just to stare at that man.

129

[identity profile] angeladunn.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just talking about that, yesterday!
And I completely agree with you. And that makes me sad...in a way.

Personal opinion timez:
Wall-E was a great movie, and I loved it... but I caught myself thinking 'why can't they make a story like that where a dorky, out of place girl gets the good looking guy?
Because that's basically what happens in all their movies 8/

105, 116, 122, 124, 145, 150, 167

[identity profile] mariafiona.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
105. Normally, I can accept when people just use 'him' and 'her' and just use colors to denote who they're talking about, but I don't know which person to associate with which color, here. Pink... is the girl in pink, but the rest are kind of vague.
116. ...wow, that kind of makes me RAGE too.
122. I get a little annoyed when people put 'OP is obvious' when NO, YOU'RE NOT OBVIOUS AT ALL. You'd be obvious if you accidentally left your name in your secret (that happens). As it stands, I have no idea who you are, and I think most people who are reading this probably don't either.
124. ...not a Gary-Stu. You must be looking for the other Lamperouge brother. In any case, I don't really love Rolo to bits like you claim everyone else does, but I do feel very sorry for him.
145. ...I like how the text in this secret is arranged. Good job, OP!
150. ...don't we all?
167.

I need to watch Wall-E now.

122 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-07-08 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
...I get ONE comment, and what the hell is this?

*groans*

Well, "obvious" as in "to those who know me". It's implicitly stated.
CRIPES.

Adrien Brody is, in my opinion, the hottest actor in Hollywood today.

140

[identity profile] wofl-iron.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The beast was totally hotter as the beast!

[identity profile] yuu.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
@150: Probably said a lot, but does that make it okay for Chinese weeaboos to do it? :|

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
110: I think I know what you mean, but at the same time, without knowing you, I can't say "don't worry about it" or even "they're right". Sorry OP, but I know some people who are constantly surprised by good reviews, but still manage to be arrogant about it. It always makes me feel awkward, because addressing their behavior make me feel guilty, but it really needs to be addressed. :\

114: Yeah, me too. ;-; I'd want to keep my fanfic, but.. no canon. That just ended up being death. I'll never be able to read the first few without remembering the tripe at the end. *sigh*

118: WIN. :D

123: Wow, way to be judgmental? o.O maybe, you know, some people just like to dress loli?

129: I didn't even notice. o.o; Now it's going to bug me too!

150: Okay, this constantly pisses me off, and the gloves are coming off. If the Japanese can use gratuitous English in their day-to-day life, why the hell is it so horrible that we use gratuitous Japanese?! Grow the fuck up and let me speak however I gods damned want to without assholes like you telling me I'm doing it wrong. It's fandom—it's supposed to be fun. So why the hell does everyone act like "my way of expressing my love for X is so much more mature than your way"? Get over yourself Anon.

154: WIN! (Or, to piss off 150, すごい!)

110 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-07-09 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm having a hard time picturing a situation like that. Still, without knowing the details of mine, it's fair of you not to judge. No worries.

(And I love your response to #150.)
