I just hate dubs. If there's not a sub, and the dub is all there is, and the original Japanese is hugely expensive (as all their media are) and hard to find, I'd rather d/l the show. Especially since I understand the Japanese.

174. I try to avoid fanfiction from my 80s childhood because I'm a little afraid they'll "jade" me somehow. I can't tell you how many incredibly disturbing fan ART I've come across, so I guess it extends to fanfiction. I still find something good every now and then when I do venture in, though, and I applaud the people who try, becomes sometimes stories are few and far between (like Fraggle Rock *sniff*) :) And I love shipping fics for 80s cartoons if done right (once came across a particularly adorable Red x Gobo [Fraggle Rock] fic).

Agreed. I always say that sex isn't my kink, even though I do enjoy reading about the odd fictional boinking - it's a bit like how I enjoy action movies with stuff blowing up every which way, but meatspace explosions mostly startle me and hurt my ears.

I'd recommend looking up www.asexuality.org, 130 OP. They really explained a lot for me, and I only ever lurked there. :)

I think it's honestly probably Michael's performance. Not to take anything away comics/anime/manga, but sometimes it's honestly easier to be moved by an actor then a drawing (I KNOW! Gasp. And that's coming from an artist!) They are both breaking the law (technically) and killing people, but from one I feel story, and the other, pathos of delivery.

On another note, Dexter is seriously putting some work into what he does, and also, risking himself every time. Writing in a book is so detached from the action. (I'm not getting into physical detachment vs. Psychological detachment and etc etc hah. I'll never stop.)

Also, not defending either's actions. *Ironic icon is ironic.*

112 - I anticipate the comments to this. For the record, I haven't read the books (don't like vampires), but am considering reading them just so I can see what the fuss is all about.

So uh. Read the books. All of them. In hopes that it would get better along the way. And was sorely disappointed. :') It's not the insane fans that make the book shit [for some of us], it's the writing. And no amount of 'sane fans and writers' can fix that, sweetie. Ms. Meyer was the one who brought it upon the world, and there's nothing you can do it fix it. ♥

129. Hmmm. I personally saw the message of these books not so much as a criticism of god/spirituality, but of meaningless, corrupted institutions (I think Pullman had the Catholic church in mind.) In fact, the Amber Spyglass reveals that the creature styling himself as god was not the creator, rather the "first angel" who seized power, leaving room for a higher power in the story that is not evil. I'm not really religious or anything, just love children's lit, haha.
