180 - Don't feel bad, I'm the same way. I read HP (but did not finish the series) before I even knew of HDM. HDM is just one of those top notch trilogies that can suck you in. I still grieve for Lyra and Will and their inability to be together, and I read them well over a year ago. My boyfriend read them earlier this year, and I sobbed over the ending. So, it isn't just you and me. I think a lot of people feel the same way.

180. I don’t really think you can compare them… they’re on completely different levels, intellectually and technique-wise. HP is for entertainment far more than HDM ever was. HDM is promoting the author’s views, but in the guise of a children’s book (which is written more than well enough for readers of all ages). And while people of all ages read HP too, there isn’t as much for mature readers to dig for.

185. Pfft. As a diehard Digimon fan, I don’t feel inferior at all. I like more “mature” series as well, as well as some seinen (although all the seinen I really like still features younger characters, for some reason). And I also like more than just anime/manga. But it’s okay to do something just for the entertainment and not because it stimulates you intellectually.

Hahaha, now, I never said I was. I only said I made an effort. And really I only meant that I give any and all characters a second chance and try to like everyone in the whole show/book/movie/etc. It doesn't always work, but I try. And that's what's weird - I don't make any effort to be nice to real people. If anything, I try to make them hate me. :/

101. Sorry :(. I definitely understand the feeling of alienation. I live with my dad, who's unemployed, and we have about $50 a week for both of us to eat.
