108. Of all the characters to choose for their conviction and beliefs, I think Aang is a great choice.

112. I like the idea of it being canon because it makes the endboss more relevant. The game's plot is still kind of a trainwreck, but hey, that's why it needs all the help it can get.

117. If you consider butch as a role/performance rather than a sexual orientation, then it's perfectly possible to be a manly man as a straight female.

137. It's not like a lot of other games, so don't worry about not liking it because you aren't a gamer. It's a short puzzle game and it's very fun. I'd give it a try if I were you.

101. I feel you. My situations not quite as bad, but there are months where I struggle with the bills. Recently I saw a film I fell in love with instantly and just had to by the DVD. I'd love to make an entry about it, but my flist just wouldn't get what's so special about buying a DVD of something I like. I haven't bought any DVD since years since I can't afford it.

A lot of hobbies are a waste of time, though. It's just that society values some hobbies more than others. I enjoy art, and yet I'd argue that art is a waste of time in that it doesn't aid in basic survival and won't help you advance in your career (unless, you know, you happen to work in that field). Unlike video games, though, society as a whole values art, and most people can appreciate art even if they aren't artists themselves. So in that sense, art may seem like a better use of time than video games.

So I guess if you think the main point of hobbies is to develop a skill that will impress other people, then yeah, video games are a waste of time.

Actually, you can make a career of playing video games as well as a video game tester, video game critic or competitive video game player.

But I disagree that the WHOLE society values art. Most people will tell you how much of a waste pursing an art career is. Most might think it's pretty but more than that unless they had a real interest.

112. Actually, iirc, it was confirmed to be not canon. Which saddened me greatly, because I think it would have made FFVIII twice the game it was in my eyes if that theory was for real. Maybe that's an odd statement, but my main problem with the game was that it didn't feel tied together - if Ulti=Rinoa was for real, it would really complete the game, I think.

145. I can't decide if I'm excited or leery. On one hand, I love that time period, but on the other hand... Star Wars excels at taking things that should be good and making them not. =( There is only so many times a series can hit the SUCK AND FAIL button on you before you start giving everything that comes out that sort of sidelong nervous glance, no matter how interesting it might look.

101. I can't relate to the extent of being poor, but I know where you're coming from. When the choice is put gas on my car or buy the newest game, what do you think I'm going to pick? I'm sorry to hear it, and I hope your family's financial situation improves soon. I can't say that I know how it feels to be in your situation, as my family's always had enough money to cover at least the basics. It sounds like you're still relatively young, and I hope that when you're finally on your own and working full-time, you'll be able to settle into a career that pays well enough for you to afford all those extras you've been wanting. Sometimes fandom can actually be more fun once you're an adult, since for many people, it's the first time in their lives that they've got a steady income and can choose how to spend it.

That really sucks about your sporadic Internet access. I expect having limited connectivity would make it harder to participate in fandom moreso than lack of stuff. :( Hang in there.
