138. Oh god don't get me started. I don't ship Phoenix with anyone (at least until he becomes Naruhobo), but I got the sense that some of my ex-friends in PW fandom thought anyone who didn't ship Phoenix/Edgeworth was doin fandom rong (and my friends who ship it are still too "IT'S PRETTY MUCH CANON" about it for my tastes). I don't like Phoenix/Maya, but Phoenix/Maya fans tend to be saner.

Also, it's been said before, but OT3 = BEST SOLUTION. That or ship the hypotenuse, because they'd be adorable.

Are you kidding me?

For most of my life, I've been among the lower class, and I've been into anime, books, and games since I was seven years old. Yeah, I used to be jealous about my richer friends getting wallscrolls of Sailormoon or a Gundam Wing carddeck, but I never complained. Matter of fact, fandom brought me closer to people. But whatever.

If you're really, REALLY worrying about materialistic shit, versus food? There's something wrong with you. A couple months ago, I couldn't even buy REAL food, and I ate one meal of day of mother fucking RAMEN. I am so GRATEFUL that I don't have to live off of that shit, and worked a long way to improve my lifestyle.

So you know what? Someone from the same boat? That makes me headdesk, but yeah, we deserve better, don't we? Don't worry about materialistic things, be grateful for FOOD.



And ironically, those foods pictured are expensive.

I had no idea you watched CG. Personally I stopped about three episodes into R2 and started reading summaries off of anime blogs instead. My approach to this series is so embarrassingly fanboyish - hate Suzaku, crushing on Kallen - but that doesn't stop me from thinking that the picture used for 171 is suspiciously Kallen/CC. Or maybe that's just contributing to my transformation into a basement-dwelling Lulufag otaku.

But I'm 31, and this is kind of how I feel about Alanna from the Lioness Quartet being labeled as a Mary Sue, or people calling the Last Herald Mage trilogy preachy and heavy-handed. Whenever anyone criticizes them, I feel like cutting a bitch, 'cause that's my childhood, you know? Even though the criticism against them is probably right. THEY WERE COOL, OKAY.

I'm now the proud owner of the Portal PC game, despite the fact that I haven't played anything more complicated than Bejeweled or Frogger, ever.

178. I've seen several strong female characters in MegaTen games. Persona females seem weaker, but then they're designed to fit current societal roles. At any rate, Naoto looks more androgynous than anything else, so I'll probably forget she even has a gender halfway through the game.

185. I don't follow Naruto or Death Note, and I feel perfectly confident in my tastes. Like what you like, and who cares what anyone else thinks. The only real downside of not being a part of current major fandoms is the smaller fandoms that are available, and that can be a blessing at times.

138. I will be the first to freely admit that I've written for both, and that I, personally, prefer writing the NaruMitsu dynamic. But I actually DID enjoy the one Phoenix/Maya story I wrote.

And honestly, that was my fear, too. But the people here are just so damn nice. You probably just got...I don't know, but honestly, the sheer friendliness of this fandom and how all the shippers seemed to get along saved me from meltdown when the KuroFai fandom went batshit.

(I recommend igiari - they accept all pairings, all sexualities.)

176. I sympathize. I haven't seen this notice or where it came from; I'm out of the loop. But. I originally subscribed to the argument that fansubs do help the industry, because they make shows popular enough that people want to buy them when they come out.

But after hearing the "fansubs are bad and hurt the industry" argument so many times, and after posting clips of shows on Youtube and seeing first-hand how entitled people are about their anime fix without even considering buying the legit DVDs when they come out.. I just started feeling so guilty about fansubs that I don't even pay any attention to the new ones anymore. This has been going on for two years. I only watch fansubs when I've actually been alerted that a show is good, and then only usually a few episodes.

Result of this? The only shows I pick up on DVD anymore are the old shows I watched on fansubs. Because I feel guilty if I watch and like fansubs and don't pick a show up. Just picked up Emma and Spiral and Petite Princess Yucie, which I watched via fansub years ago.

Went to the store the other day, and there were series there where I had no idea what they are. Some of them look kind of neat, but not enough to spend gobs of money on them. And I have no idea what's been out for the last few seasons (other than shows I've heard of through fan circles), so this'll probably repeat.

I've got no incentive to pick up even the more popular shows like Death Note or XXXholic on DVD until they come out in cheap box sets, since I read the manga but haven't watched the fansubs. If I'd watched the fansubs, I'd probably have felt guilty enough to pick up the first few volumes right now, at least. And unknown series are right out.

TL;DR: I think this is backfiring, because I've actually got no incentive to buy the DVDs for newer shows anymore, because I have no idea what they're like or if they're any good, and I don't feel guilty for NOT buying them. Perhaps I was right to begin with, and I should go back to watching fansubs?

185. Don't feel bad for liking these shows. Never feel bad for liking ANY shows. You like what you like.

Plus, can't say for Pokemon (since I've never seen much of it) but I still think that the end of the first season of Sailor Moon and the middle of the S season had some of the saddest scenes in any anime I've watched. Naruto and Death Note don't even come close.

173. The "the unstoppable force and unmovable object" could also be said about Gordon and Maroni and his underworld cohorts. The reason why this movie worked so well is because it wasn't just a Batman film, it was a Gotham city film. The city lived and breathed on screen. All of the characters were interwoven so well that no one was really the lead because the movie would not work if you had plucked a single character out.

The fact the Jacob is Native American defines him. It's absolutely huge. He lives on a fucking reservation.

It's a slap in the face to his character that Taylor isn't Native American.

I do get what you're saying, however. I'm still pissed, though. Jacob is the only redeeming quality of the Twilight series, in my opinion. I'm pissed they already fucked him up.
