115- YES JUGHEAD! I love him, seriously. I have an "I'm with Jughead" shirt when there was that whole little plot going on. (That and one of my art teachers does pencils for the comic)

135- I can see him being one of the first to 'die' in the series, if Amano does kill someone off.

[identity profile] tellingtime.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, so many Orange Box secrets today.

115. Jughead's pretty cool. I like his laid-back attitude. 8D I think he and Betty would have been better off than her and Archie.

117. Nothing wrong with wanting to be as rugged as them. You don't have to trade in your gender, just your sanity.

137. You should play it! It's a lot of fun and short and sweet. You don't have to be terribly good at "video-gamey" things, as it's mostly a puzzle game.

143. You could say that about any form of entertainment. And you'd still be wrong.

157. I think it was the robo-hate-sex part that was hot.

187. I WISH I WAS THAT GUY'S DAD.

wait no

144. Yep yep yep!
149. LOL... that sucks, OP.
156. Umm... we can't help it? Truthfully, though, I have a somewhat strange taste in men as well. Let's compare, OP. Me: Michael Caine (whatever age), Ioan Gryfudd, Fred Astaire, and, of course, DT. You?
165. Wow. That... that's creepy, I'm not gonna lie.
166. I wish the writers believed that as well. Doctor + No One = OT1.
173. A study in opposites... exactly! I think I've identified why I like it so much (besides stellar acting- at least on poor, dear Ledger's part- and kickass plot.)
183. OH. MY. MOTHERFUCKING GOD. I miss Ardeth so much!

Re: 156

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, Ioan Gryfudd is HOTT. He's like a Welsh Jeff Goldblum.

127. You're not alone man; some of the scenes in that movie were bloody heartbreaking.

138. Hey, don't worry. I've got no interest whatsoever in the yaoi side of the fandom, and I've still managed to fit in and find some awesome friends. Don't let one bad experience get you down. =)

144. Am I the only one who didn't find the Joker attractive when he was in drag? Ah well, whatever.

183. Me too. :( At least Johnathon is still there, otherwise I just wouldn't see it.

Re: 144

[identity profile] childings.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't really think he was attractive in drag, obviously it was meant to be funny (the time-honored tradition of gender-bending to get a laugh). It's cool if people think it's hot or whatever, but yeah, I just wanted to chime in to say that I agree with you.

All right, I know I shouldn't be taking this so personally, you're entitled to your opinion yadda yadda, but I have to say this.

If video games as a medium are pointless wastes of time, so is just about every other art form ever conceived. In fact, anything done for anything beyond strict survival, be it analyzing the Mona Lisa into the ground or getting that last Pokemon, is in some way wasting time. After all, it doesn't help survivial, now, does it?

Except survival wouldn't be worth beans if it wasn't for the things that make life worth living, be it beating Citizen Kane with the analysis stick or having a good game of Smash Bros. with friends.

Besides that, games are a growing art form. Even though I generally dislike forced literary analysis, I will laugh long and triumphant when - not if, when - certain video games are given as serious a look in Literary Literature That Is Important And Defines Culture circles as some films are. TV Tropes says Metal Gear Solid 2 is already used to teach meme theory in some places.

Re: 174

There's a debate as to whether Yuuri should top Wolfram or Wolfram should top Yuuri. Some people think that since Wolfram's more "manly" means that he should be the one topping.

I think it's a load of shit.

[identity profile] honestys-easy.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
115. EEE Jughead secret! There was one comic that was actually really dark and twisty where Jughead's parents were planning to move out of Riverdale and he got really angsty over it. And he had this really meaningful conversation with Archie about their friendship. And just as he was about to tell him the secret of the letter "S" on his shirt, the whole gang showed up to tell him his parents weren't moving after all! I lost this comic way back when I was 10 or 11...I swear I couldn't have made it up, I was never that imaginative as a child.

126. I went to an American historical society yesterday and they had a blown-glass Theodore Roosevelt hurricane lamp on display. The amount of stuff they put his face on during election years was INSANE.

128. I love the comic but IA. I'm kinda looking for something horrible to happen that'll cause massive snark and make it funny again.

If Heath Ledger wouldn't have played the Joker, there probably wouldn't be so much fuss about 'The Dark Knight' in the first place.

[identity profile] sgkoneko.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree entirely, and don't really care if I get tons of people bitching at me for it.

Hell even if he had played the Joker and just hadn't died, there wouldn't be much fuss.

110. Ditto. I was actually going to make a secret just like this. If I wasn't drawing 'teh ghey hawtness' I'm not sure anyone would give a crap about my art. Sad, but it makes me not *want* to draw anything else. Now I'm supposed to be painting and getting a portfolio together, and I... can't. I'm actually pretty worried about what's going to become of me.

127. I didn't see this movie, but my sister told me about it recently, saying how heartwarming and great it was. I felt pretty sick to my stomach - it sounded awful.

133. LOL xDD One of my fav Who scenes ever.

156. Because he's amazing? Haha, I think it's personality, too. If I saw the guy on the street I might not think he was all that.

166. Maybe not as much asexual as he just has different priorities than a human. That's what I got, at least.

170. Aww, I've never seen a secret like this with Marfa. I know everyone says this, and it's a cliche, but you really will find someone right for you. Now that you've acknowledged this, maybe it'll help you get more confidence - which everyone finds attractive. :]

Re: 127

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-07-27 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda can't stand Adam Sandler, and watched the movie only because it had Dan Ackroyd and Sean Astin in it (shut up, he's cute). It is . . . not as bad as it looks like it's going to be. I mean, lord, it's not good, but someone actually thought about the plot instead of stringing the obvious cheap jokes together. And they didn't go for the obvious happy ending; they found an ending that didn't break the rules the film had already set up. It was better than it had any right to be, I guess is what I'm saying.
