My childhood. Yay. Was sickeningly obsessed when I read this as a kid...still love it to death. Am forcing my spawn to enjoy it as well :D

102. I only hope he gets to interact with more members in the cast than just McKay and Shep.

114. Now I'm even more hopeful for seeing it. The Clone Wars cartoons rocked and to my knowledge, he didn't write them either.

116. I liked the job class system, but I hated the lack of playable characters. Diversity always makes games fun. Plus, the ending was pretty much pointless, which made me feel "Okay, that solved nothing."

117. Lol Whendon. That was a sad ending, though. :(

138. If Stargate's your fandom, have no fear, because they have no problem with you being interested in an Air Force endorsed TV show.

143. To be fair, it was extremely popular before Heath's death, but it attracted even more attention when he died.

159. Now he's a true villain. :)

XD My friend's been exposing me to Stargate over the years, but I haven't seen enough to claim it as a fandom, yet.

Note: I had absolutey dreaded what I was getting myself into when I bought a copy of the game. That being said: what I posted in my journal after beating it:

Over Yuna's personality:
...It's been 2 years. People can change. And I think that in her case- she's got the right to act bubbly and happy and jump around with Rikku over an OMG!It'slikeatotallyAWESOMESPHERE considering all the crap she had to deal with in FFX.

And with the clothes- I can slightly understand the complaints about the clothes. My modesty has issues with some of them, but that's beyond the point. However, in Final Fantasy 10 Another Story (where she sees the 1st sphere)- Rikku takes her along and, I can only assume, shows her some of the new clothes to dress in. And, again, considering again that it's been TWO years since that moment- she's probably gotten use to wear that kinda stuff.

I've come to the conclusion that this secret is simply a sneaky way to get recommendations from avid readers on what *good* literature to provide for young female readers in order to prevent the crap from taking hold in their brains.

Possibly because he's been romantically linked to no fewer than three of the other young women to appear on the show? A friend of mine thinks he's acting out fanboy fantasties, only on a bigger level 'cause he's actually got the role, and after watching that Children in Need special with him and Five, it's hard to argue. ("You were my Doctor"? Who *says* thinks like that to themself? No one would, that's who! D:)

150 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-08-02 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
...That could easily be it. o_o;;; And your friend has a bit of a point ^.^;; Especially with the Children In Need special. ...That line was a little weird.

120 Ship what? Satan and his demons? Satan x Jill? OH THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE IS AS SECRETLY OBSESSED WITH CHICK AS I AM.
143 BAWWW MOAR. And FYI I couldn't have cared less about Ledger before I saw this film. I'm glad this film made me aware of his acting ability.

I wish I had the balls or the drawing ability to draw porn of that scene.

Lol!
I agree with #165 whole-heartedly. :D That thought didn't escape even the cleanest of minds. I mean, it's so obvious.
My art skillz aren't bad.. but sadly for some, pr0n is not part of my repertoire.

165. me too. haha. only it's not a secret WHATSOEVER. & I'm so glad that TDK has allowed Aaron Eckhart to get the recognition he deserves, because he's talented and amazingly gorgeous.

Oh my god, totally agreed on the whole nerds/asexual women thing. I've met so many Final Fantasy girl!fans who are like, "EW YOU'RE A SLUT IF YOU WEAR ANYTHING REVEALING OR HAVE SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE." It's so weird.

125. Alan Moore has been Hollywood fodder for years! He's never been safe. The only thing to hope for is that the people doing Watchmen have learned from the utter mess everyone else made of his other comics.
135. HOLY SHIT, THIS SECRET IS THE BEST SECRET EVER, ILU!
142. You and everyone else.
165. You and everyone else.
167. I know there's fanfics around in the quieter corners of fandom. I never paid much attention to the details though, sorry (reading fic for The Bill is a bit too Rule 34 even for me :D)
Bait: Olololol

167

Rule 34?
I just wish it was there really, because the Bill is love.

[identity profile] iolites.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
116. The hate for FFX-2 really gets on my nerves. It wasn't the tragic story that FFX had, but after all the drama Spira had to endure (Sin destroying stuff, Summoners dying to stop Sin for a little while, etc.) didn't that whole world deserve a little fun? It was feminine and fabulous.

137. Frederic is hard not to love, even with his tuberculosis. (The exception being the town in Spain where he was arrested for even having the disease. Oh, the 19th Century...)

#130

[identity profile] martoufmarty.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I wouldn't say that it's better than LOTR, but I agree that it's better than Harry Potter and all that crap.

I loved this series as a kid. And I still do. Me and my sister own all the books... Minus those 'choose your path' ones. Those are... well, bad.

Too bad the TV show was awful.

(I've always been a Tobias fangirl)

138

[identity profile] halflight007.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, YEAH, I can see why. This is probably my inevitable bias talking, but DUDE. Air Force >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fandom IMHO, and this is talking about someone who's in MULTIPLE fandoms. You're doing a good thing, believe me.

(My bro's just finishing up BT, by the way. So, uh, yeah. xD :D)

136

(Anonymous) 2008-08-02 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. You know, I can't blame you at all. I'm a girl, younger than she is, and I just got extremely short of breath just looking at that photo. xDD
So, I second that!

143

[identity profile] anti-love.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I know exactly were you are coming from, it's getting to the point I can't say I like Batman or that I've been a huge fan of the Joker since I was old enough to read (6 btw >_> At 10 I wanted to marry the cartoon version of him <_<) without rabid Ledger fans or just new movie fans jumping me and claiming it is just because of the Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong though, it was a good movie.

141

[identity profile] unleashedfreak.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I am so fucking sick of this argument. Shitty stories are not better than nothing at all. Especially when said shitty stories espouse an unhealthy relationship. And there are tons of other books that young girls--gasp!--have read long before fucking Twilight came out. It is not the be-all and end-all of books, it is a fucking series about fucking sparkly vampires. Get over it.

121: Her religious beliefs shows in her writing, though, don't they?

And oh, the difference between twilight and the Vampire Chronicles is that the latter is better written, better plotted, and has better character development. Which is really saying something...

141: I agree that they've accomplished a good thing. It doesn't make them good books, but bad books have their place too!

157: My advice is to study the porniest Harry Potter fics you can find (and stay away from ffn). Have a look at Pornish Pixies (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/pornish_pixies/).

If it is any consolation, I think that Ianto and Tosh would have been an utterly adorable couple. I can see Ianto driving Tosh home after the events of Greeks Bearing Gifts, and the two of them having wonderful comfort sex. He'd brew up amazing coffee the morning after, of course!

One of my favorite fanfics involves Jack/Tosh/Ianto, and in a way that solves the "how do they fit on Jack's itty-bitty cot!" question.

141- The problem is it's not getting them to READ (un general) it's getting them to read THAT book. And then they stop because they think it's HOMG the greatest book ever, and not one of 80 million cheesy teenage romance books.

151. NEWSIES SECRET. *jumps and tackles* Ye gods, who didn't ship Davey/Denton? I mean, from the first moment Denton approaches him (I mean, how did he mistake Davey for the leader when Jack was the one inciting the riot?!) it's obvious they have some UST going on. And let's not even talk about David's wish in the King of New York number. Eeeeeheeheh. *fans self* I'm quite finished.

104, 143

[identity profile] arcadiaego.livejournal.com 2008-08-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
104: Indeed. :-P

143: Not to be horrible, but I simply don't understand why people keep saying this. The film wouldn't be as popular as it is if it weren't *good*.
There are heaps professional critics giving it excellent reviews as well, and *they're* not just saying that because Heath is dead. Even if one
discounted that, the popularity of the film is going to encourage more people to discover the universe you love so much.
