i admit i enjoyed the game. i am a huge fag for gippal/rikku. though i'm still a bigger fan of the first one.

105 - You know what, same here. He just looked so good tied up, especially when his hair got all shaggy.

107 - I thought Ohba said she didn't even think people would read DEEP things into it.

116 - I'm pretty girly, but it just crossed the line. The chanting, putting the girls into fapworthy outfits, shitting on Yuna's character and making her into a 'strong woman', sorry, don't buy it.

130 - YESSSSSSS. Holy shit I loved the guy too. But I beg to differ, the superior book was that huge anthology about Alien form!Ax. They sounded so pretty and graceful and blue.

[identity profile] night-is-fallen.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, I agree with everything you said.

Plus? I think the whole freaking plot of the game just completely CHEAPENED what was so beautiful and meaningful about FFX. *shrugs* I know people don't agree with me, but I liked X's bittersweet ending. It still makes me cry, even to this day. X-2 just seemed so ... I dunno the right word. It just didn't fit and it rubbed me the wrong way.

A lot of other books have gotten young girls to read. Granted, there are a lot of young girls who DON'T, but just because you only see them, doesn't mean bookworm girls aren't around. There are millions of us.

And I like to think that the girls who read would have enough sense to see how bad these books are, rofl. Nah, that's an opinion thing. I mean, I think they're terrible, and would understand people liking them DESPITE them being bad? I don't disagree with people that like them - just people that think they're good.

And people that think young girls are illiterate?

104. They're both fucking terrible.

114. I have a feeling it would rock if it was done in the actual original cartoon style instead of making it bloodyfuck CGI like every other fucking kids' movie on the fucking planet ever. FUCK.

116. No, I abhorred it because it undermined the incredibly beautiful and tragic ending of FFX. :) Nice try though.

141. No. :D Go away.

The gameplay was solid and the dressphere system was pretty fun, I agree with you. But it was the terrible music, the completely jarring "feel" of it when compared to the first game, the flat and lame new characters (Paine isn't like Auron. She is Auron) and the godawful convoluted fanfic of a plotline that really ruined it for me.

I like to watch the pretty cutscenes and make up my own story rather than ever play that goofy game again.

Lots of Dr. Horrible! And…Newsies.

134. REEEEPEAAAT

118. My husband plays all female characters in WoW, but I don't mind because, hey, those dudes are ugly. In CoH/CoV, I still don't mind because the characters he designs look like crap (oliolioliolio~). I just wish he were better with coming up with character names, because either he ends up with something horrible from the name generator (it came up with "Evelosinna" and you hit "Create"?!), or he'll name it for a porn character. Pfft.

129. You and everyone else, baby.

116. A common complaint about playing X-2 is that it felt like playing with Barbie dolls. Well, what’s the problem with that? I used to play Barbies with my friend every day. Our favorite game was Superheroes, where they all had different powers and flew around saving the world (it also gave us the excuse to fling them down the stairs. Flying!) And they looked damn good doing it.

122. I mostly just liked the second act. I didn’t find the ending particularly moving, and as this was Whedon, I actual found it a little predictable, even as it subverted the genre expectations of the romantic comedy to follow a more operatic approach. I can’t really recommend it as a comedy, and it lacks, for me, the emotional catharsis inherent in good tragedy.

So… that’s what’s wrong with me. =/ Of course, people can and will feel otherwise, especially at such a polarizing work such as Dr. Horrible. And I definitely love all the actors involved (NPH fucking EARNED his unicorn!), and I have to thank Whedon for introducing Felicia Day to me, and thus, The Guild. I’m glad you really liked it!

125. It could be awesome! It could very well be awesome! It… it won’t suck. Will it?

141. Harry… Potter? The Princess Diaries? The mountains of volumes surrounding ponies?

104, 116, and all the Dark Knight Secrets

104 -- you're me, right? I, in my sleep, submitted that secret, right? (P-plus there is more bisexual, man-lovey vampires in The Vampire Chronicles, AMIRITE?)

116 -- I AGREE. I think a lot of people don't like X-2 because they think it's sexist (I think they're just pretty girls). And, yes, OT3 to the EXTREME.

The Dark Knight Secrets -- maybe we should just have a Joker x Rachel x Harvey x Bruce foursome ~ <3

116: I gotta say- I've played both X and X-2, and I really didn't care all that much for X-2. Don't get me wrong; I loved the job class system and how they handled the dresspheres, but that's really about it. There was nothing particularly stellar about the plot (it didn't move me on an emotional level like X did), I felt that Yuna's characterization was a bit far-fetched, and Paine (as much as I like her!) just seemed like a more punkish replacement for Lulu. (And I honestly would have preferred Lulu in there anyway).

If you enjoy it, great! And I can't say that I agree with all the massive hate the game gets, to be honest. But it just wasn't something I enjoyed, at least on the level of X.

(For the record, there SHOULD be more female leads, especially in a Final Fantasy game. But I think they rather fell short, here.)

129: ...me too.

157: I kind of agree with you here. On one hand, you don't want the fic to read like a Harlequin romance novel (unless that's what you're going for)- but on the other, I think you can only write "he thrust his penis into his ass" so many times before you start looking for a different way to express it
But, hey, I do the same shit, so I'm in no position to speak. ;3

161: AAAAAAHHHHHH D8
I'd read it

n!s2: Unfortunately, you'll have your share of asshats in any fandom. I get what you're saying, though- seems very counter-intuitive to me.
