Okay I don't get teary-eyed every time I hear the track, but every time I play the scene? Yeah...I do. Also the Tour de Japon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFytzNhPsoM) version is awesome. They played it at the Dear Friends concert back in '04 and I got a bit bleary there, too.

104. I've only seen one even semi-interesting AU for this series (based on the movie, I think) and it was never continued. Besides that, anything I've found fic-wise is just terrible. And all in all that's rather depressing given how fantastic this series was--book and movie. : /

hey, there is actually another book, where sophie and howl appear..they also become parents there :3
it's a little weird because at first it seems to be about something totally different but those two play a pretty big role in it!
I don't know the english title though...
but it's the official although fairly recognized sequel :D

128- MICKEY IS MADE OF AWESOME! My opinion on this will never change. That is how you do character development- right there. I love Mickey. But I actually liked him in the first episode- yeah I know no one else did! But he became all sorts of awesome by the end of S2. He deserves so much better than Rose in so many ways yet I still ship them. Mickey/Rose will forever be my DW OTP! :)

101. I ship a huge amount of couples in my fandoms, too. It's fun! And means I can read almost any fanfic and enjoy it as long as it's written well. I actually think it's easier than having a true OTP.

104. I was really disappointed with the book's version of Sophie/Howl after seeing the movie. It felt sudden and underdeveloped.
That being said! Diana Wynne Jones DID write a sequel to the book. I haven't read it, but maybe it would help satisfy you?

If more games lately were less "macho" and focused on war, I'd probably be more motivated to become a true gamer again. Heck, that's part of the reason I play more Japanese games than American ones in the first place. And I'm saying this as someone who enjoyed Gears of War.

106. Nah, I'm totally with you. Hedwig's death was completely arbitrary. I believe it was just an excuse to eliminate the bird from the plot. (But I thought the whole 7th book was utter phail so my opinion is invalid).

While I think I understand why JRK killed off Hedwig, I think her execution ('scuse the term) was terrible. I don't think the whole 7th book was full of fail, but that part certainly was.

You could read Castle In The Air if you haven't already. It's the sequel to the original novel, and even though it's mainly about different characters, there are some excellent Sophie/Howl moments. Even better ones after Sophie ceases to be a cat.
