Yeah, it's frustrating. :( Hollywood seems to be in a super conservative mode in recent years where they don't want to take big risks in casting or concepts. So remakes of a popular piece of media win out over fresher, riskier scripts. Conventionally attractive + known names win out over talented unknowns who don't look like models. It sucks.

I watched the movie of this with my family and got so bored I asked to be excused to my room. My dad got super mad at me for being a spoilsport about family time, but my God it was boring.

One of the problems with many comic books and TV shows (and accordingly, TV shows sourced from comic books) is that they're written without an end point in mind, so they just go on and on and on and on, and the stakes are raised higher and higher, and every time the characters get some happiness it gets taken away in three chapters/episodes because Happiness Is Boring.
I like a lot of comics, but the endless fucking grind of it all wears thin quite quickly.
