137) Pullman is an entirely different class of writer than Paolini...and Rowling, too, honestly. I'm not the biggest fan of that series because of the direction he took the story in, but the craft of the writing itself is fantastic.

Well, the storyline certainly isn't going to appeal to everyone, but part of its--mystique, I guess, is the fact that it was a huge departure from the rest of the superhero genre when it was published. It was among the first comics to go into the really gritty, bleak area that's way more popular in the mainstream now, and also one of the ones that handled it best.

137. HP books were fun reads (not as OMGWONDERFULBESTBOOKSEVAR as some say, though), and I haven't read Pullman's stuff, but IAWTS re: Inheritance Trilogy. Complete and utter CRAP, cliche-ridden to the point that I could go "OK, this one is the mentor, so he dies before this book ends, this one's the long-lost brother with the dark secret (who may or may not turn into the Big Bad), Luke I Am Your Father (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LukeIAmYourFather)...", one of the most obvious self-insert Gary Stu's EVER (on that note...Eragon/Bella OTP theirloveissowishfulfillment?)...and my FATHER, who has introduced me to some of my favorite books, shows, and music, will not.shut.up about how wonderful they are. Frustrating as hell. [/rant]

(Same goes for non-RPS; I wouldn't show my slash fanfic to the creator of the original work because that's not why I created it in the first place.) Just sit back and have fun! I doubt the place will be active again for another two years.

147. I totally know what you mean. I don't really attend to talk to people like I used to... because the lack of modesty in convention fandom is awkward and overbearing, really.

188. While I enjoyed it, I don't think it's "the greatest thing ever." Infact, I'm pretty sure the movie's either going to be totally wrong or the action packed Trailer shows the only action scenes that will be in the movie at all.
