127 - On a positive note, no one could deny that Moist would be self-lubricating, eh?

137 - P-people actually rec Eragon? For serious? D:

188 - Hmm. I've always been under the impression that Transmetropolitan was the best comic series out there. Psychic space vaginas sound like fun, though. :o

137 OP

Yes. A bookstore employee caught me as I was walking through the fantasy section and suggested I buy it.

I declined.

122. IAWTS x 32. This is my second favorite book of all time, and I'd love to see a fandom for it.

101. It should only matter to you if it matters to you. Not everyone needs a "significant other" in their lives.

111. It is? Huh, I guess I can see how that works. Never occurred to me either.

114. I like being barefoot. I like the feel of grass.

117. Hallo LJ friend! ;)
I really should stop falling in love with dead fictional people.

120. I love literary geek secrets.

122. Yes!!

123. Hahahaha. I'd go for the last bit, myself. Having him as my Dad would be really fucking weird.

131. It's Al Pacino as Satan. Do youneed any more reason than that?

139. I heard this secret sung by Marni Nixon.

161. Huh? I'd think that would be more likely to turn people vegetarian. Please explain? Also, hooray for a Withnail and I secret!

167. PHILIP QUAST! You rule. I met him a few years ago, he was ever so nice.

173. Fandom even comes complete with the flaming of heretics!

179. F!S is certainly displaying good taste in older men today.

188. LOL. That's all I can bother to say about that one.

Out of curiousity, why haven't you? Just no desire to see the hot guys prancing around on stage dressed like 14/15-year-olds, or has the prospect of entire medleys dedicated to the COMPLETELY PLATONIC LOVE that is Doubles scared you off, as I'm sure it's scared off many? :D

If it's just a matter of availability, many of them are up on youtube and all of them are available via direct download or torrent if you ask around :)

137. Oh, honestly. His Dark Materials is hardly in the same category as Eragon and HP. You can dislike it if you want to, but any moron can tell there's an immense difference between HDM and that other bullshit in terms of quality of writing.

146. Probably. And a lot just like it because it's hot. But these days, can you really blame anyone for being afraid of their sexuality?

"what" - *snickers*

137 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-08-24 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Immense difference or not, HDM is badly written, albeit not nearly as badly written as the other two. My point still stands.

So much love. Mind you, I never really thought of the guy that way until I saw his lookalike actor in Ed Wood.

Re: 117

I remember Orson's voice from my childhood, my grandmother was always watching movies. Since he's not on TV much these days, (I don't have TCM) I really didn't start getting into him until recently. And yes, Vincent D'onofrio was muy caliente in Ed Wood. He got to play him for a longer scene years later, it's brill: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=s-4PPr3r_r0

117! I have such an Orson Welles crush. Especially on him in the first part of Citizen Kane, and a continual respect!crush for basically all of his work. I'm sure that if I let myself, I'd also entirely fall for him. SO I feel you there!

Re: 117

(Anonymous) 2008-08-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! Very good to hear. Yea, I think I could have fallen for him on his work as an actor alone, but everything else is just too wonderful. Even when he was much older he was still riveting!

112, 146

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
112: Yeah, when I first saw him, I thought "Hey, if they had wanted to cast Snape as his actual age instead of way older, he'd be the perfect actor for the part."

146: Nope. My own slash writing I see as a celebration of the polymorphous perverse that informs and underlies my own sexual identity, but I tend to overintellectualize such things. I think most people write because it turns them on, they think it's fun, or both, with little or no reference to their own sexual preferences in RL at all.

146. Hey, I can make up words too!

[identity profile] otoselkie.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
188. Actually, I kind of agree. I didn't hate Watchmen, just thought it was kind of average. Rorschach was an interesting narrator, but overall it seemed like a comic written by/for people who had grown up worshiping Silver Age superheroes and were now ready for something darker/tearing down their idols. It might be a generational thing.

I also hated the art.

[identity profile] shesarebelyell.livejournal.com 2008-08-24 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
188. You probably don't like real life either, then. :B

No seriously, I respect your opinion about it, but The Watchmen is brutally realistic in regards to just how crappy and fucked up people tend to be. And the average woman would be more than content with Sally Jupiter's "accomplishments" in life.

(Anonymous) 2008-08-24 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm just a random passerby, but isn't this point kind of moot? How many people really do?

(Anonymous) 2008-08-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
107.,188. Oh, no. Rorschach = Joker 2009. I can't believe the Watchmen wank and backlash has started seven whole months early. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when the movie comes out. After two decades of sitting quietly on the bookshelf, the trailer comes out and it's all over.

Oh, well. I'm going to try really hard to just sit back, laugh, and be amused. It is pretty funny to see this stuff for Watchmen, of all things. And I understand why some people don't like the book. I hated it the first time I read it, and appreciated it after rereading it, but still see why others might not.

Er...um...I do hope that it's remembered that plenty of people like Rorschach because we think that he's a fascinating and complicated fictional character with both loathsome and sympathetic qualities, and not because we think he's an ideal role model/boyfriend (the murder and torture kinda tipped me off). I like Alan Moore's characters because they're frustrating and flawed. Human.

...I think I need some sugar cubes.

111: For serious? Is that the actual origin of Eeyore's name? If so, holy shit. That is all I have to say--all this time, I thought it was just some "made-up conglomeration of letters that the author thought looked cool together" name.
