182. Who is the vampire and where is he from?

That's Beckett, Vampire: the Masquerade's mind-bogglingly awesome archaeologist type. MOAR BETTER LOL.

105: I am most confused. Yet... any recs?

108: I still need to see it, OP. But Nino's acting? HELL. YES. And also worth an Oscar.

112: EEE! Stardust secret! And don't worry, OP, I thought the same thing. XD

118: That's retarded. I'm sorry you feel that way, OP. I hope you meet Tenimyu fangirls who don't care. ._.;

126: As much as I loved it, I found it pretty boring. D:

129: *hug* I'm sorry, OP. I hope your Nana comes back to you. ;_;

130: FFFFFFFFFFFFF FANFIC PLZ.

132: I love Mr. Monk because he's so silly. The fact that his wife died makes me a little sad. So yeah, I feel you.

139: Aww. *hug*

143: Don't worry. I shipped it since I was a kid, OP. :x

159: I agree. *KICKED REALLY REALLY REALLY HARD*

177: Understood. ;x Out of curiousity, which characters have you "dated"?

184: *hug*

102. :| His other books seriously need more attention than Uglies/pretties/etc. I really like So Yesterday, but nobody's ever heard of that. They all read the Uglies series.

111. WOAH IT IS. Don't feel bad. I figured out that Tigger was a Tiger when I was 10 years old. >___>

102. Read Uglies. Read Midnighters. Read "So Yesterday" and "Peeps". Loved them all. STFU.

117. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I honestly feel your pain, OP.

126. What's with the hate!secrets today? It's a love story. The fact that it's a gay love story in the '60s in Wyoming means there is going to be major drama.

135. YES SOUNDTRACK PLEASE!!

137. is a troll.

181. This is fandom. There are many who agree.

126 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-08-24 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It was the relatively contemporary setting that disappointed me, not the major drama. I'd just been psyched up about the possibility of a Big Gay Historical Love Story, and the actual plot seemed rather mundane in comparison.

There's a lot of Disney going on today. Heh kinda cool.

102 Hehe <3 Uglies~ It needs a fandom BADLY.

150 Dude, I've always wanted to be a digidestined. Fug, I was pretty mad when I was younger and found out the cut off age was eleven. I was one tweaked off twelve year old back then.

147 Ditto, mostly on my side I wouldn't know how to approach anyone without constantly worrying that I was annoying them.

143 Another ditto, I always felt weird shipping it, but I did. They're hard not to pair up. Specially if you watch certain episodes, Reta GLADLY gives up her dream of living in a nice home at least twice from what I remember to stay with him.

148. Ooooo, Hart To Hart!

158. Aww! For what it's worth, I'm a fellow Nishi fan. I just haven't posted any secrets 'bout him because... well, I just don't have any. Crackpot theories and strange fanfic ideas that I'll never get around to writing yes, but not secrets. Sorry~

172. Outlander, right? I'm really looking forward to seeing that movie, but I have no idea when the hell they're gonna get off their asses and release it (I think it's coming out in the UK next February, so it'll probably come here also around then -- but it's ages until that, urgh).

what 1. Y'know, I don't get why everybody acts like that Wicked musical (or book or whatever it is) is the only thing with green-skinned characters. Didn't you guys read The Neverending Story when you were kids?

107. I'm already seeing crappy Rorschach cosplays, and the hype has only just started.

137. Umm...I think His Dark Materials is overrated in certain intellectual circles (I wish New Scientist didn't fap to it so much because OMG ATHEIST CHILDREN'S FANTASY SCIENTISTS MUST LOVE IT!!!), but it's...not really on the same level of fail as the other two. For that matter, Harry Potter isn't on the same level of fail as the Eragon crap.

But, well. It's been ages since I read HDM, so what do I know.

Edited to add: to be fair, I realize this secret's probably a troll. I mean... "*tosses together a bunch of random popular fantasy series* LOL THEY ALL SUCK" Not exactly subtle there.

188. I think there are some issues with Watchmen, and it's not my favorite comic ever, but...

a) None of the women actually get raped, and none of them go into sex work. (LOL, "sell their bodies." Dumbest turn of phrase ever, but I guess I can't really fault you in particular because it's so common.)
b) You're supposed to think that Rorschach needs a slapping because he's such a drama queen. Which I think ties into one of the real problems of the series--I come away from it with the distinct impression that Alan Moore hated damn near every character he was writing about, with the possible exception of Doctor Manhattan. Personally, I find that the strength of his writing overcomes that, though.
Edited 2008-08-24 21:54 (UTC)

137 OP

I'm not a troll. As someone who was raised on classical literature, and who was taught to appreciate the nuances of the English language (among others), I find those books to be spectacularly poorly written. The secret is a secret if only because I am friends with a large number of otherwise intelligent people who are under the impression that the books revolutionized English literature.

Besides, if I were a troll, I'd have added Twilight to the list, but as I've never read it (where I have read the others, to my regret) and therefore have no opinion, I left it off.

While you're very correct that HDM is not the same level of fail as HP is not the same level of fail as Eragon, they're all pretty fail, so they all get listed.

107 If it makes you feel any better, one of my friends did a last-minute costume of Rorshach for Halloween last year. (See? (http://pics.livejournal.com/childings/pic/0003s0de/g61)) So there was already horrible cosplay way before the trailer ever came out.

114 If there's anything that makes me a stereotypical Tennesseean, it's my aversion to wearing shoes, even when I'm outside. I think my calluses are like 1/4" thick by now.

122 I need to read that book. (I have to finish Lolita first.)

126 I hated that movie. It was boring. If it was about a het relationship, nobody would have given a shit about it. Because the story it was trying to tell was cliché as all hell (OMG I LOVE YOU BUT WE CAN'T BE TOGETHER). Just because it was a breakthrough in the sense that it featured [closeted] gay characters in a [indie to eventual mainstream] Hollywood movie doesn't make it a good movie.

128 I don't schlick to cartoon porn of any kind, but I have a collection of hentai/yaoi/yuri of series I watch because I find it amusing. Bright x Kai yaoi where Bright is the uke? LOL

136 Seeing images from that show make me want to watch it again. Like real bad.
I like the episode where Colonel Klink made a random cameo appearance as Batman and Robin were "climbing" up the side of a building. He just stuck his head out and was like "hello Batman," and Batman was like, "hello, Colonel Klink." WTF

137 Those Eragon books are just a rehash of shit stolen from every great and famous fantasy series ever known. I won't start with His Dark Materials because we already had a ton of drama about that a few secrets posts back. But suffice it to say that I have no respect for atheists who proselytize (especially to young adult, let them make up their own damn minds about what to believe -- just because a child is raised with religion doesn't always mean they'll end up being a believer in that religion, either) or people who talk down to children in general.

146 I think a lot of them might be. It might seem judgmental, but I just could never be a part of the slash community because of the weird vibe I get from yaoi fangirls. And I don't even dislike slash (see my comment for 128, though.)

147 Oh, Anime Expo. How truly horrible you've become.

159 Cowboy Bebop is FAR from being the best anime of all time. It's basically a ripoff of Lupin III and Crusher Joe.

170 I expect anime to be good, and entertaining. And for me, Geass is neither of those things.

177 That's creepy as hell.

104. Possibly because you felt it to be true in your heart of hearts, and that is a truly terrible thing?

124. What is this canon, and is the person in the foreground wearing a heartbuckle on it's belt?

130. Well... I don't really see it. Frollo would try to dominate Maleficient, Maleficient would try to dominate Frollo, and when neither of them would break Maleficient would just wave her hand and burn him to ashes. Like, no contest.

136. Is it the monocle? I bet it is. There is inherent hotness to anyone who can rock a monocle.

143. Considering they are very sweet together, and funny to boot, I see nothing really wrong in that. Now, had it been the Warner siblings or Slappy with the Security Guard, then it would have been wrong/nonsensical and I would have raised my eyebrows but this? Darnit it is LOGICAL.

153. My word, a secret about the Joker that does not incorporate the word 'hit it', what has F!S come to. Still, relating or cheering for the chaotic character, the destructive one is not totally a surefire ticket to psychoville. It could just be repressed anger and annoyances bubbling up to the surface as support for a character who does all the destructive things we in our rage wish we could do, but actually never would. In short, I wouldn't worry about your boyfriend until he starts doing very random things regularly and buy far too much makeup.

163. Woah Nelly is that some promopictures from S3 or just personal papparazzy stuff or whut?

187. Holy cow that was unexpected. You know, remind me again, were those three kittens her kids, and in that case did they ever say anything about who the father was and what happened to him?

159. Surprisingly, IRL I've actually met more people who preferred Samurai Champloo over Cowboy Bebop...it's always seemed to me it was a matter of stylistic preferences, but I've been wondering, since rewatching SC, if it's because more than CB, there's a better sense of closure? At least it seemed, to me, there was concrete closure. I've seen a lot of people complain otherwise.
