I'm a slash fan, so I'd prefer Aladdin/Jafar. The art is awesome nevertheless.

By the way there's some long porny fic with them for Thief of Bagdad movie. It's het and NC17 - I'm not a fan of those - so I dropped it but I think it's well written.

Well yes, that was sort of my point. Character death ought to have a narrative significance to it when it's a single character that's the focus of the scene. But when you kill off an underdeveloped villain, that has less of an impact.

Yeah, didn't hate or love him. I feel like I'm in the minority in disliking all of the underworld elements of Star Wars. I don't care about Boba Fett or Aurra Sing or Cad Bane or Hondo or any of it, and it feels like they're making a lot of content geared towards that.

I like Han a little better than the other underworld characters but it seems like all the new content gets rid of the good stuff and leans into what they *think* makes him cool, and not what was actually interesting about him.

I'm so so on Lovecraft, but *yes*, so sick of horror being basically a gore-fest or torture porn. No thank you.

Man, so much this.
I mean, I quit watching pretty early on - whenever the whole stupid 'Zack and the serial killer' bullshite happened. But even before that, Booth was always way too smug and overbearing, and everybody always seemed to be picking and pushing and bullying Brennen about how she needed to be 'more normal'. Blech.

I really hated Booth's Xian bullshite. Omg.

They totally understood.

I tell my pup the story of the Fairy Wog-dog sometimes, and call her Rowsby Woof. :D

I'm not into the 'bad boy/girl' archetype really myself but for some reason with her it works for me and I really don't know why. It's confusing, in a fun way though.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I've not seen them but from the last decade there has been Cthulu, AM1200, and The Void.

Call of Cthulu was a game made this year. From what I've seen it isn't gory at all.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not alone OP!

I never hated him or anything, but he's my least fav from the orginal movies. I sometimes fantasize about how what could have been if that emergency plan of Lando replacing him had happened. (I do love Lando oddly enough, who seems to have been the same archetype)

I actually think him going back to smuggling and not being the ideal husband/father is actually the most interesting that character has ever been.
nightscale: Starbolt (WoW: Ysera)

I've not watched things specifically because she's in them, but it has been a delightful bonus if she has turned up, because she is so gorgeous.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean. I rewatched BSG a while back and ngl Starbuck was hot. I've seen her in other roles and she still kind of is attractive but not like drop-dead hot.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
High five, Bridget Regan fan! She definitely is hot in any role she takes.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess my point is that I felt it had the impact and significance it needed

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You are by far not the first to dislike Mon-El intensely, OP. :\

And what makes it worse is Chyler recently revealed that they cut Sanvers scenes in favor of Karamel scenes or other such.

New Thrawn Book Coming

For Rogue One fans, he's going to cross paths with Orson Krennic, and Eli's coming back!

A major flaw of the prequels...

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Anakin/Palpatine had more on-screen sexual chemistry than Anakin/Padme. That opera scene, wooof!

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The CGI thing played a big part of it for me. Not menacing enough when obviously fake, IMO.

I'm pretty sure that's Bridget Reagan. Less recognizable if you haven't see Legend of the Seeker because she doesn't have the dark hair anymore.

Re: A major flaw of the prequels...

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
TBF, Palpatine had chemistry with everyone.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to restart the show twice because Brennan was so obviously set up as a straw-atheist, in ways that were inexplicably incongruous with her supposed expertise as an anthropologist.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If he was ever actually intended to be the main villain, then yeah, I found him really boring. But I really like him as something of a MacGuffin. He is the thing that brings Kylo Ren to the point we find him at in TFA. He also serves to somewhat obfuscate the nature of Kylo Ren's character and the role Kylo is going to play in the story, by positioning him as an underling, and even somewhat obsequious. Supreme Leader Snoke creates a pigeon hole for Kylo Ren. It's an odd pigeon hole that we sense is ill-fitting, but there he is in it. Until he kills Snoke, at which point the full nature of Kylo Ren's character and the role Kylo is going to play in the story gels substantially.

Add another: they're teenagers

Re: Wait...

[personal profile] soldatsasha 2018-12-06 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Ginny was an asshole several times, particularly to other girls. And I seem to recall Hermione being one of the most vicious kids in the story many, many times. And they were both amazingly cruel and unfair to Fleur, along with Molly.

Meanwhile Harry is one of the nicest kids in the story overall, and had many moments where it was clear he absolutely 100% valued the girls around him. Him and Ron both stick up for Hermione several times per book, and later on once he realizes she isn't a loon Harry is one of Luna's biggest advocates.

Pretty much any criticism you can levy against Harry and Ron, you could say about Hermione and Ginny as well. Because they're a bunch of dumb moody teenagers.

I agree with you completely.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-06 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed! Which is why The Devil's Backbone rates miles over Guillermo del Toro's other (horror) flicks.
