I have to work tomorrow but I need to clean my bathroom on Sunday and try and tidy/purge my clothes.

This secret speaks to me on a personal level. I have revenge fantasies for most of the fandoms I follow in which the villain/s hurt me in some way and afterwards I retaliate against them by destroying their life. I try not to over analyze it, but I can't avoid worrying about what these fantasies might say about me.

But that episode was ages ago, when she was still a good character. She used to have flaws, but she doesn't anymore. And being a fan of a book series where those things happen has nothing to do with how you's react to it in real life. If it did, pretty much everyone in the world would be an expert at handling terrifying situations.

Honestly it felt natural to me that she was calm and collected in this situation, because that's the sort of thing that happens to me. In normal situations I'm an anxious wreck, but when we're in an unusual situation and OTHER people who are usually my rock start to panic? Something flips in me and I become the rock. When I was traveling alone I had a panic attack when a flight was delayed, but when traveling with my usually-chill dad and the same thing happened I was THE chillest I've ever been. So yeah, Connie being in that "it's gonna be okay" mode felt right to me.

Do we know that it was? Being thrown in jail might be the equivalent of getting sent to your room, but they don't know what the Gems were planning to do with them after that. They could be planning to keep them there forever, torture them, or kill them. Or kill Connie, at least, since she's not a Diamond in a human body and has no value to them.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-19 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Except you're ignoring that she's used to controlling parents and Steven needs someone to lean on right now. Both points brought up, that you conveniently skipped over so you could keep your shit opinion.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-19 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I mean yeah? That's the impression I got, given everything around it. The impression seemed to be that Pink had been sent there before, because it meant she'd have to reflect on things and not just dally in her room.

+1

Seriously, OP, you're taking this as, "I DON'T REACT THIS WAY SO CLEARLY SHE SHOULDN'T BE EITHER"

I'm gonna dive into Final Fantasy XIV! I did try on my PS4, but it just was not melling with me. I need a PC to MMO, and now I have a PC. So now I will MMO.

I came into the show kind of not liking it, but by the 3rd episode I was hooked. I will definitely say it's worth a few episodes to watch and get a feel for it. But honestly, it is a show where you either are really into it or you're not.

TBH It gets better and more creative with every season.

You know how when you go to some kind of meeting or presentation or lecture and someone is giving a powerpoint presentation or sjowing something on their computer, and there's that moment when they're getting their computer hooked up to thge projector and you can see their desktop? Well, I would find it really embarrassing if my desktop were really cluttered and everyone saw it projected on a huge screen. I (irrationality) fear being one of those people whose desktop is SOLID ICONS AND DOCUMENTS.

I keep both my personal and work laptop desktops really spartan just in case I am asked to give a spontaneous powerpoint presentation (which has never happened, but you never know...)

Does prison count? Because the immigration detention centers I've been in would probably be the worst place. Glad I don't have to live there, and I feel bad for those who have to.

Re: Trigger warning child abuse

(Anonymous) 2019-01-19 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
What I heard was that a bunch of gross pedos (possibly NAMBLA?) tried to horn in on the gay rights movement and managed to get themselves solidly associated with it due to constantly and publicly talking and acting like their persecution for their child-raping ways was the exact equivalent of normal gay people being persecuted for having consensual adult relationships.

But I wasn't alive back then and I don't think I know any fellow LGBT people who were old enough at the time to have personal knowledge of what was going on, so I could have some of that wrong. I do know that there is a very large contingent of evangelicals who powerfully associate gay people with pedophiles, and the anti-gay literature from earlier eras that I've read tends to have less of "teh gayz are all CHILD MOLESTERS" than anti-gay literature does that's from, like, the 70s-80s onward, so I honestly think that the "we child molesters are JUST LIKE THE GAYS and shouldn't be persecuted either!" people might honestly bear a good bit of the blame for that.

Heights isn't weird. But what is weird is my fear of airplanes flipping. When I'm in a plane, my vertigo and height issues mean that my biggest fear isn't crashing, its the plan flipping over when it is turning.

What do you own that sparks joy?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-19 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Not just like...actual joy. I'm not sure anything I own makes me feel that way, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2019-01-19 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I've never actually watched criminal minds (beyond passively absorbing a chunk here and there back when I had cable), but good god he's beautiful. It's extremely rare that I find a character so beautiful that I'm halfway in love with them based on looks alone, but Spencer Reid is one of those characters.

I agree that they're inhumane. What would be your solution to dealing with people who attempt to enter the US illegally?

I'm going to the library to find a book and use their wi-fi. And digging out my car for the second time this week, which is mostly interesting because I'm not even driving it anywhere, I just need to keep the snow away until the day I suddenly need it.

Have fun! Any particularly book you are looking for? I hope you can get the snow from taking over your car!

Houston...and Texas in general, really. Ugly cities, horrible traffic and roads, too fucking hot, obnoxious nouveau riche houses and the politics.

But at least the bbq is tasty.

I did the konmari thing when I read her book some five years ago. I can't say I found a lot of thing that ~sparked joy~, but I definitely could tell the difference between the things I wanted to keep, and the things I just had lying around just in case.
