I have never once been compelled to do so, except maybe if other people are around and while it's "talking to myself" it's just sort of blabbering commentary for other people, too.

I do talk to my cat, though.

Does talking to my cats count as talking to myself? I mean -I tell them about the laundry I'm doing or the errands I'm going to run.... As much as i love my cats, they really aren't understanding more than about five out of 100 words I say.

Yup, a lot. I tend to ramble/rant to myself about almost anything, dunno why but talking things out to thin-air really helps make me feel better when something is bugging me.

Remember that kink meme where the host logged the IPs and kept adding new restrictive rules?
Last week there were ~50 prompts and 3 fills. Then someone threw a hissy fit, had all their comments deleted, now there are ~30 prompts, 1 legit fill, and 2 orphaned fics. No new activity ever since.
Man do I feel bad for the poor author(s) who went their way to write a fill, only for the original requests to ended deleted.
