What classic would you not mind a remake of?

The Sound of Music. Which I love. Don't update the setting or anything or make it contemporary just ..... remake it.

But then why bother remaking it.....

The Neverending Story. Cut out some of the boring stuff.

Highlander. Cast an actual Scottish guy (not Gerard Butler for the love of god), make more of an effort to have other immortals from diverse backgrounds played by actors of that background, and add more awesome swordplay.

I would love to see some remakes of the old noir movies, maybe a new Marlowe adaptation. It would depend so much on the cinematographer and director, though, not to just do it as a pastiche.

I was going to say West Side Story - I love it dearly, but let's get some actual Puerto Rican actors in there this time - and then I remembered they ARE remaking it and Ansel Elbow is going to be Tony. Ugh @ him. I'll be interested to see the rest of it, though.

I notice something new every time I re-read a Pratchett that in retrospect seems like it should have been obvious, but I'm not sure if it was really intended to be caught by everyone on their first read.

Example: In Guards! Guards!, dragons are a metaphor for humans. That's actually said by characters in the text, twice I think, so that's a big hint right there. Still didn't catch it until, idk, the third time? And I don't feel too stupid about it. *shrug*

Tumblr cringe

(Anonymous) 2019-03-08 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I can't even fully parse why but I had a massive backbutton reaction when I read this post.

https://milkteaviolette.tumblr.com/post/183276312115/hyper-empathy-is

For those who don't want to click:

Hyper-Empathy is:

* Crying about a book
* Crying about poetry
* Saying “ouch” when you bump into an object out of sympathy for it, because it can’t speak
* Apologizing to your plushie when you touch it in the eyes
* Crying about some random argument you overheard until your nose bleeds
* Physically cringing during comically awkward scenes in TV shows
* Not being able to watch anything with conflict without pauses and big body stims
* Having a meltdown if forced to do otherwise

Just... jfc, tumblr. It's like you've reached maximum special snowflakeness.

Why do people flip out so much over things random teens post on Tumblr? Jfc, I am so glad 95% of my teen drama bullshit was literally consigned to the trash with my notebooks full of random bog standard teen idiocy. It’s not like most of these kids are posting stuff specifically designed to piss adults off, and even if they were, that’s also a standard teen thing. Ignore it, or, I guess, become a “damn kids, get off my lawn,” stereotype to go with their rebellious teen stereotype.

Saying “ouch” when you bump into an object out of sympathy for it, because it can’t speak

I say "ouch" when I bump into objects even if it doesn't hurt because it's a reflex. My brain is like, "I know what to do here!" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well shit, I cry about books and poems that make me sad, say ouch when I accidentally bump into stuff or drop stuff, and apologize to my dolls when they fall over. Don't do the rest of the stuff though and does crying really lead to nose bleeds? I thought those happened when your nose was too dry or something.

Tolkien TV series

[personal profile] philstar22 2019-03-08 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Have I died and gone to heaven? Second Age? Really? Did they actually get the rights? I Know Christopher Tolkien resigned a little while ago, so it is possible, maybe. Oh, man. If they got the rights, and if they actually did it justice. Oh wow. Second Age is my favorite Middle Earth age.

Don't mind me. I'm over here drunk and losing my mind with excitement.
