102. Duchovny is hot, friend.

105. I FUCKIN LOVE THAT GAME.

108. -hugs you- TT.TT

122. Cary Elwes. *.*

131. Wow, you're right. Not that I'm shipping it now, but WOW, YOU'RE RIGHT.

134. LOLOCAUST. I should start doing that. I love it. Excellent work. XD

147. ♥

160. Sherlock Downey is gonna be hot. Downey period is hot. But I cannot wait for Sherlock Downey.

175: How selfish of you.

[identity profile] nochi_san.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
151:...I bought that game today. And I thought the same thing once I started playing.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

[identity profile] pekori.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
145. BEST IDEA EVAR. Except I could never pit Byakuya against Dumbledore that is just rude. D:

173. While I, personally, cannot watch most anime in English, I don't necessarily instantly disrespect those who can. It really does just come down to preference. I think a lot of the stigma attached to English dubs comes from the fact that so many of them (coughcoughlookingatyoufunimationcough) are done so poorly that it renders them incapable of viewing by those who fell in love with the series when it was still a manga, or when they first watched it, before it was re-dubbed in English. However, I will be the first to admit that there are actually English dubs that I believe surpass the original Japanese dubs. For instance: Cowboy Bebop. I've tried watching it in Japanese - it just isn't the same. But, maybe that's because the first time I ever watched it was in English. (As an aside, an anime that I think really delivers well in both English AND Japanese is Wolf's Rain, but ohmygodIcriedforever.)

[identity profile] hopelikefever.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
The Wolf's Rain cast sounded so similar in both languages that you might as well have been watching it in the same language, hehe. But seriously, Wolf's Rain is A+++.

I get really stuck on a dub sometimes, too! Gankutsuou is one that I can't watch in Japanese, simply because the English cast suits the characters so well that I can't imagine them any other way.

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
108. I'm still upset because I only saw the first ten episodes, then a while later, I tuned in to it on Adult Swim just in time to hear them talking about his death. I don't know that I could bear to watch it--I loved him so much.

116. Oh, Harriet Jones. I love that even the Daleks know who she is. And I love her. I was so upset when I realised she wouldn't be showing up again. I was thrilled when she showed up at all.

129. Well, scoffing about how Twilight is about the tweeniest approach to Goth I can imagine, I suppose by not being one of those Goths. Okay, granted, back home, Goth/Punk/crazy-hair-piercings-tattoos all blended in, and I don't know much about the subculture, but I do know that some of the politest people I've ever met were covered in tattoos, pierced in odd places, and working at a Hot Topic or tattoo parlour. To the point when my Dad was impressed by how helpful and nice the people were when he went to HT to buy Christmas presents. What "truth" do you have to tell? It's not a life-choice or anything.

133. Not much of a Trekky, since it's spelt Trekkie. Other than that...interesting. And "not even human" doesn't hold as much water was it should, really.

134. I'd just be upset when it wouldn't stop, I think. Still hilarious.

136. I'd like it better if he wasn't staring at her crotch. But yeah, I loved Sonic/Sally. And Bunny/Antoine.

142. With Life on Mars, I think the trickiest thing is seperating the emotional impact and AWESOME of the really key episodes with how it begins. It begins well, it really does. But it's like trying to get someone into Avatar: All I can think about are the gorgeous fight scenes, the tearful seperations and reunions, the fantastic characters who may not show up until season two, the dimensions we see added to each character over time, and the sweeping epic of the plot. So it's difficult to remember that if I show the pilot episode to somebody and they're not immediantly blown away by sheer amazing, they're only seeing that one episode with the kid sliding down penguins and making frozen pee jokes.

143. I was always upset that after going through so much to win her, she doesn't even get a mention in the sequel (which otherwise was great). Also, I couldn't tell whether I wanted to be her or if I had a girl-crush on her when I was a kid. I'm sure if I go back and watch the opening scene, it'll seem way more sexual than it did.

146. Hmm. You have balls. And a puck as well. Or maybe...SPACE PUCK!!!

154. I liked her well enough in the free-comicbook-day ish, which is all I've seen of her. A bit Mary Sue, but fun enough.

160. ....
....
....
*grump* Siiiiiiiiigh

163. Wow. Naive secret is that. Seriously, fandom is the bit for fun. Not everyone finds doing those things fun. That doesn't mean they don't do them. The Harry Potter community I'm in had an auction or charity awhile ago. There are groups of Trekkies who do charity as part of their...larp? Or whatever it is. People do constructive things as well. Whining that people are doing something that's not constructive for fun is...well, it's kind of lame and kind of annoying, and kind of not really understanding how the world or people work (I don't mean "the world is a bad place and people are bad" I mean "there's a sense of balance, people like to relax sometimes, etc").
Catholic, by any chance, are we? Because that's some effective unearned guilt right there.

175. As someone who usually advocates giving kids interesting/fandom names where appropriate...the reasonings here sound selfish, and it just seems mean.

185. Ooh, I hate comments like that.

163

(Anonymous) 2008-09-14 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm DEFINITELY not Catholic. And I'm definitely not saying people shouldn't have fun. I think a lot of people misunderstood.

[identity profile] dracothelizard.livejournal.com 2008-09-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
116: HARRIET JONES WAS ROBBED. Of her job, amongst others. I was so happy to see her back and kick ass and not regret anything. HARRIET FTW. Let's face it, if the Doctor hadn't got rid off her, there'd never be the election for the Master to abuse! ALL YOUR OWN FAULT, DOCTOR, FOR DISMISSING THE AWESOME HARRIET.

122: Cary Elwes > Kevin Costner. Because, unlike other Robin Hoods... well, you know :D

134: GENIUS WAY OF DEALING WITH IT :D :D.

175: Can't you just make it a middle name, or something?

178: Okay, most of the people reading it for entertainment KNOW that the Edward/Bella relationship is messed up. It's the people who genuinely think the books are good you need to watch out for.

[identity profile] daisy-the-mage1.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
122. Forgot to say - Men in Tights secret = FTW.

[identity profile] solid-marmot.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
109. I fucking adore Mars. ;___;

119. ME TOO

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
173- dubbing is adding sound to a video, so the japanese can be called "dubbed" too

THIS! THISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHISTHIS!!!

*ahem* I actually agree. I've actually began to find the Japanese versions of certain shows/games to be boring. Yes, boring. I actually fell asleep halfway through Spirited Away after I got the DVD and watched it in Japanese. And no, I was not sleep deprived at the time, nor do I find the movie itself boring. Lord knows I loved it to bits when I watched it with Portuguese voices.

154

[identity profile] amanuensis1.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
154. Illyana Rasputin remains my ultimate comic heroine, but I gave up on Marvel wayyyyyy back about the time New Mutants was getting shitty anyway, so I have no idea what's happening with her now. But it's awesome to see she's got fans. ^_^

WHAT WHERE THE HELL ARE THE DEATH NOTE SECRETS THIS GO-ROUND.

[identity profile] lady-agrias.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
175) w-what. Can't you call him Eriol?

[identity profile] mimes.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
122 - :D

125 - I sometimes feel that way, esp. when it comes to fandoms involving real people, like bandom or whatever.

129 - There is no possible way to reply to this without snark. I'm sorry.

134 I declare this the most unintentionally helpful secret ever posted. 's been years since I read Twilight, before I got into Python, but I've had him say that in my head with other things.

147 - Me too. None of my friends understand the appeal, sadly :(

175 - Get help. Please, for the love of God.

179 - Just tell her. It shouldn't ruin your friendship. One of my best
friends love Twilight, and when I told her I couldn't stand it she was fine with it. Just make Twilight a thing the two of you don't discuss.

102. To be honest, I...still find him attractive in spite of that. O_O

109. Heh, I definitely wouldn't mind having a sweet romance like theirs myself. And...best of luck to you in finding your "Rei". ^_^

136. YES OMG YES. I discovered this couple 2 years ago when I stumbled upon SatAM, and after watching all the episodes on DVD, I absolutely fell in love with them. They're...still my OTP in the Sonic fandom.

It's...kind've ironic, though, as I was a Sally hater and a Sonic X lover...once. ^.^;

[identity profile] bonsoirdollface.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
161) (preemitive note: angry fan is way, way too angry)

KFHDSKLFHSJD i fucking hate Joker secrets. And I honestly'd like to stab whoever did that meme. "What doesn't kill us makes us stranger" is from the Aeon Flux TV series, something actually fucking worth watching when it's not being incomprehensibly artsy.

143

(Anonymous) 2008-09-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
HELL YEAH! You are not alone!

175

(Anonymous) 2008-09-14 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
You're a horrible parent, selfish, and worst of all: A fucking weeaboo. Please to be having an abortion as you are too retarded to breed.
ouo: (Princess Tutu; I Love You)

[personal profile] ouo 2008-09-14 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
173. Amen! I watch dubs and subs, but I get super annoyed when people act like every anime in Japanese is the ultimate incarnation that must never be blemished.

175. I'm not super familiar with the procedures so I might be totally off-base, but... if you agree to adopt the child of a pregnant mother who doesn't want the child, isn't naming it yourself a possibility? Or, heck, if you're that desperate, why not get a surrogate mother?
bridgitkiido: (Johan - Nyeh nyeh~)

125, 182

[personal profile] bridgitkiido 2008-09-14 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
125: Why?

173: If you prefer the dub, that's fine with me. I prefer the Japanese version of most of what I watch, myself, because it gives me less of a headache. I mean, I prefer to not have to know what the bad puns used mean, and most of the dubs of serieses that I know use a looooooot of horrible puns. It's not the voices that (usually) make or break it for me.

And if the GX fandom were a country? It would be one where stupidity ruled and smart people were forced to go into hiding, and it would be constantly at war because of attacks from its sister fandom-country thingies of DM and 5Ds. *perhaps is a little cynical, but still*

182: KITTY! ♥

175

[identity profile] honeysuckle-raw.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
You're a freaking idiot. Not because you're naming your kid Sakura, but because you're doing it for such a stupid reason.

167

[identity profile] nobody-and-me.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
...yeah I don't have anything interesting to say, I'm just happy to see a FreakAngels secret.

143, 173, 175

[identity profile] inuyatta.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
143- D'awww, I remember that movie! I wish she had shown up in the sequel...

173 - YOU. YOU SEEM TO GET IT. Granted, I do like subs sometimes, but on certain series, I have to watch/play the dub. Odin Sphere, Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop--I can go either way with Slayers, but I usually prefer it dubbed because Lisa Ortiz was just that good and Xelloss actually sounds like he should in English (Yeah, I said it. =p).

There are two things a lot of fandom doesn't know or seem to understand: One-- The Japanese dub is not always superior. The Japanese are just as capable of recording half-assed lines as anyone else is.

Second, the dub voices these days have to be approved by the Japanese head honchos before they get the green light to go ahead with recording.

175 - That's...rather cruel. Srsly, get a pet.

(Anonymous) 2008-09-14 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
113. Oh god what the fuck it is going to be so lol watching a Watchmen fandom blossom
146. OP you are a beautiful soul for this one and I want you to know your efforts do not go unappreciated.

[identity profile] voicing.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
134. That...is the greatest idea ever. *__*

172

[identity profile] dryadgurrl.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
... are you me?

Seriously, my mom just recently told me that Adric was my invisible friend when I was younger, and I wouldn't do anything/go anywhere unless Adric could come too.

I still cry when I re-watch Earthshock, every time.

175 and to everyone who posted comments about it

[identity profile] eri-desu.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
First off you can name your kid whatever you want, as long as it doesn't scar them for life. (ie: TalulaTheHulafromHawaii -> an actual name someone named their kid and later in life they changed it from embarrassment. TRUFAX! :O)

Honestly even though it IS a little bizarre, there is a way to solve the issue of whether it's just or not to call him Sakura. Just use that as his MIDDLE name. That way no one has to know about it, he can spill the beans if he wants to and the OP can continue to call him that. Problem solved.

Whether he used it or not, the awkwardness of the name would wear off eventually so it isn't a big deal no matter what you do. The boy in Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan's name is Sakura. No one made a fuss about it? How this turns out is all a matter of time.
