175: I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'm seen Sakura used as a guy's name before.
As someone who will be naming her kids London and February, I say go for it. It is your decision, after all, and the child can change their name when they are older, if they wish.

173- The problem with dubs is that most dubbing companies don't make any effort. The voices are terrible and they dumb things down because hey, animation is obviously for kids! Look at the Naruto dub, or the DBZ one or, even worse, Excel Saga. They're awful and painful to watch. That's why I prefer them subbed. Mind you, some dubs are good (like Nadesico), but they're so few and far between :(

175- You're a terrible mother. It's a child, not an accessory. Try thinking about them rather than your obsessions. Yeah, cute name, but way to make your child feel like shit when he's grown up. He's not going to be a cute little baby forever.

#175 - In Japanese, Sakura is a girl's name, but I understand how you'd want it for your child's name, even if he's a boy. How about a male derivative for Sakura? Like Sakuraba, Sakuragi, etc? Or maybe ask your Japanese neighbours for a suitable name? I wanted to name my child 'Alizarin', after a chemical. Maybe it's a good thing I don't have kids ^_^

Personally, I don't care what people like or dislike, but when taking part in discussions on international fora (like most of fandom on the internet, for example), it would be nice if people wouldn't assume that everybody is familiar with the U.S. dub. It can become very confusing.

175: Well, you can always make it a middle name. Also, I know of at least two male Japanese musicians who called themselves "Sakura". It's not really a common name anyway.

183: I don't know, that fandom seems full of people who passionately hate something, be it yaoi, het, specific characters, or certain ships. Makes it exhausting to try and have a discussion.
