Christianity is one big guilt trip, you're probably better off without it.

If you're in that JxHQ comm on LJ, you're probably lumped in with the n00bs, anyway, since those are the only people who post frequently nowadays anyway.

The scene they used at the end always makes me cry, too. I don't care if they're 10, either.

Seeing as how Batman debuted in 1939 and The Joker debuted in 1940 while Harley Quinn first appeared in TAS in 1992 and in the actual comicsverse in 1999, anyone shipping Joker/Harley Quinn is a Johnny-Come-Lately in a relative sense.

109) You just have to know what those really mean is: "Waaah, why won't people write my pairing more." Absolutely, write whatever floats your boat, whether it be popular or rare, and don't apologize.

132) Hope you are a size A, cuz otherwise you'll be kicking yourself in 10 years. Also? Most people really would rather not see the outlines of your nipples. For real. It's like showing off your butt crack.

You probably won't read this because it's on page five billion, but whatev'.

I dunno, I like anime because I've always liked cartoons and animation, and it's generally a slightly different take on the same medium (I mean, obviously different cultures will produce things with different content, mood, etc...although they can produce similar things, as well). I'm not like, "LOL I AM AN OUTCAST I SIT ON THE INTERNET ALL DAY AND PLAY VIDEO GAMEZ AND SINCE I DON'T FIT INTO AMERICAN CULTURE, I GUESS I SHOULD LIKE ANIMU TOO!"

...I mean, aside from the fact that I'm not like that at all (heh), some people just fall into liking things because it's a lot like the other stuff we've always been into. :)

"Whooooa"

Hell, if Palin gets raped, maybe she'll realize why most people aren't cool with illegalizing abortion, and why its a damned heartless bitch thing to do making people pay for their own rape kits.

Or maybe she won't, and then we'll just be doubly fucked because she can whip out her own personal experience to support her views.

wooooah: The crazies are sounding worse than she is.

101. Suikoden's female characters are always awesome (and the only reason that kept me from burning that god awful Suikoden IV), but III's Chris and Sarah still remain as top favorites though.

135. Meeh, I thought he was all ready slightly popular prior to his death? I don't really like him either though, I attribute that to R2's poor moe/shouta pandering writing. Same reason why I don't have much love for the other new characters in R2.

175. I don't think he's thaaat bad as a writer, but I think he's better off with his graphic novels and short stories. His pacing and plotting just fails to deliver most of the time in his novella-length works.

[identity profile] polyurethane.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
169: Are you me? Taka-san's one of the first boys in PoT that I fell for. I'd totally marry him if he was real, no lies.

126

(Anonymous) 2008-09-22 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
oh lord I have that textbook this year. Well, at least I know it won't be that bad. :D

116. Most of the time I feel like the only one who loves all three. And who needs shipping wars when the obvious solution is a threesome. :3

124.

[identity profile] nathan-p.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
<3. Thank you. I've just been in a major wank about that pairing even existing, actually...

165

[identity profile] streetrat.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Man so many people found this movie boring :\ I saw it at the cinema with a friend and we both loved every minute of it wtf

Re: 165

(Anonymous) 2008-09-22 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
If I was in the theaters I'd probably enjoy it cause I'd have no choice but to get into it... but I find the movie too long, IMO, and ... I dunno, I feel bad cause its like " D: Heritage lesson, gotta watch but... so... boring... Nino... arg... zzzzzz "

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
106. Wait a minute.

Girls can't fuck things?

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
130. Okay then? This is way more pathetic than people who just like a silly book...

141. How do you deal with people who love anime AND cartoons? And exactly what is it that you hate about cartoons, anyway?!

158. ... Except not, because, like, neither of them exist. So you can't hire D. And you can't kill Edward. So no one will kill you. I mean, you know. Just sayin'.

170. Zuko absolutely does not see the world in shades of grey. He also firmly believes that there is RIGHT and there is WRONG. His definitions just aren't as pushed as far to the ends as Katara's, and they don't sync up with everyone else's at all.

That said, I feel your pain and I wish you luck in your quest. I'd definitely want to read Zutara like that.

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
109. It's not bad at all. The trouble with people who say things like that is, whether they mean to or not, they have some level of entitlement complex- write/draw/etc. what I want you to, not what you want to!- and often believe they have a legitimate complaint if there's tons of a certain pairing. But the same way they're in fandom for their enjoyment- reading, writing, drawing, and looking at what they like- you're in it for your enjoyment, too, and there's nothing bad about that. They're no better than you for liking something rarer, and they're certainly not better for trying to force your tastes and opinions to suit theirs. Your favored pairings are your favored pairings, and no one should be trying to convince or shame you into that being otherwise.

114. ... OH SHIT. HI, PATTERN I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE. Th-thank you for making me join you in your paranoia, OP. D:

115. That is amazing and I love you. Leeron needs more love, and I am so glad you got the inspiration to be proud and unashamed of yourself... It being through him isn't weird because he's awesome, but I'm kinda biased, so. =D

121. Okay, so your problem is that you're being embarrassed and hypocritical and judgemental over something... stupid. (Also that you don't quite know what "weeaboo" means, but that's okay, neither do 99% of other people so we can just skip that one.) Why, when you realize that anime is a good form of animation, even American animation taking inspiration from it or downright copying the style, are you embarrassed of liking it? And a lot of anime fans aren't identifiable by looking at them that they're anime fans, and almost none are 100% of the time.

And, okay, I lied, to touch on the "weeaboo" subject, people aren't weeaboos when they walk around in anime shirts. It's like walking around in the shirt of a band you like. People who wear cat ears aren't even necessarily "weeaboos," and weeaboo =/= "fan of Japanese things." If you're a fan of anime, don't be ashamed of it, it's just another thing to like, like Disney movies or certain films or authors. I doubt anyone worthwhile would judge you... especially if you're married to an anime fan. (Think about it: why be embarrassed about something you don't look down on your husband for?)

135. Wow, butthurt much? For the first thing, I know several people who loved Rolo's character to death wayyyyyy early on, when he was first introduced. For another thing, you're seriously retarded if you think everyone who likes yandere characters likes them because it's "romantic." No, I like them because insane characters are awesome and I love unhealthy relationships in my fiction. No, it's not romantic, only "heartwarming" (if it can be said to be such) in a twisted, unhealthy, psychotic way, but it totally is sexy if that's what floats your boat, fiction-wise.

Short form: lol at the fact that the reasons you listed for him being a worthless, annoying character are exactly the reasons why quite a few of us like his character. But then, you can't seem to imagine that his character flaws and fucked-upped-ness could be his appeal to us, instead assuming that everyone's just overlooking all of that and glorifying his character. Sorry, no, I prefer the fucked-up, selfish, cowardly little pawn. He was far more interesting that way. ♥

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
138. Oh for pete's sake. Why wouldn't you be? (Also, Petshop of Horrors certainly isn't for kids, uh. If the man-eating rabbits and mermaids aren't freaky enough, they bring up ideas and ideals that a lot of younger children probably wouldn't fully get.)

141. Anime is a glorified cartoon.

Um... yes? And? A lot of animes, children should not touch with a ten foot pole. It's a storytelling medium, just like... oh, TV shows, movies, books, comic books, etcetera. And a lot of us like it because American cartoons are mostly kiddified, sitcoms and a ton of TV shows are blah (and the good ones get canceled after one or two seasons, or turn to shit later on), and Hollywood's screwed a lot of movies over. Different medium, different storytelling. I think I'll continue to like the things that rewrite the Dracula mythos and introduce badass, unholy vampires, religious wars, and an immortal, warmongering Nazi force, rather than regurgitating the same soap-opera/horror novel tropes again and again. (And this is from a Buffy/Angel fan.) (:

158. Thank you for the hilarious mental image, ahahahaha. XDDDD

159. Why... do you wish you could still be Christian? O_o

That said, BEST MUSICAL EVER, oyas ♥

161. Despite all the scorn you probably got for this... beautiful secret is beautiful. And I'm not just talking about the picture. ♥ (Also, "I am so fucking moe for him" made me go "hee!" XD)

167. Fandom is about appreciating something both for its own merit, and using your imagination. You know. Imaginaaaaation. That thing with the rainbow in the background. I can get how those people who take their pet pairing and go "OMG IT'S SO CAAAAAANOOOOOOOON" are annoying as shit, because that's just... yeah. But if someone enjoys a pairing and knows it's not canon, they don't have to, and shouldn't have to, defend themselves over it. It's just something they like. =/ Pet peeve because this is apparently A-OK to when one of said two random characters is male and the other is female- or at least most of the time it's far more "acceptable" to fandom. Bullshiiiit.

And sorry, I'm just going to go ahead and continue shipping everyone in all of my fandoms with everyone else, kthx. Mmm, relationship padding. ♥

175. We are just going to have to agree to disagree on his books, then. XD BUT IT IS REALLY COOL HEARING HE'S SUCH A COOL GUY. And aaaugh, jealous of you goddamnit.

wooooah: You're, uh. I can sympathize, whoever you are, but I think you're. Hurting your cause just a little bit there. ._.;;;

101. LOVE these games. It was one of my favorite series. They have *good*, *strong* female leads. Good choice!

158. AMEN! I actually applauded. That's a brilliant idea.

[identity profile] elfinpiper.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
109. What I have to say to people wo think popular anything is shallow and boring is, since it’s so popular, they must be doing something right. There are plenty of non-superficial ways to portray a “popular” idea. It boils down to the author’s technique and has nothing to do with the characters, provided they’re kept IC. Why anyone would think it’s wrong to like the popular pairings baffles me. Liking unpopular ships might mean you’re broad-minded, but it doesn’t mean people who like popular pairings aren’t.

112. They look delicious.

141. So liking something that’s *gasp* Japanese-made, means you’re not comfortable in your own society? So enjoying anything Made-in-China/Taiwan/Mexico/etc. makes me un-American? (my nationality, not to be exclusive.) What exactly is mainstream American culture supposed to be? You could argue that anime has become part of American pop culture. Why does its being foreign disqualify it? You may not get the attraction, I don’t get your argument.

FUCK YEAH FOR THOMAS COVENANT
i never finished all the books, they got really dense for me after a while... but i read them when i was like, a freshman in high school. maybe i'll give them another try this winter~

white gold is awesome anyways.

152

(Anonymous) 2008-09-22 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, I always feel like I'm the only one who's read and likes those books. White gold is stylish without having any link to the books, so I don't see any shame in that.

118.

[identity profile] sinonmybody.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
heh. i did that. i was so mad at myself, cause i knew i'd never meet him. then i did. now he's my husband!
don't give up hope. ;)

123- props to you! hopefully it gets better for you. i recommend checking out some of the military communities on here- like mil_wives. we have some female service members on there who could share your pain if nothing else.

130- we're not all stupid. some of us can acknowledge they're travesties of literature, but still highly enjoyable to read.
