She doesn't see it that way. She knows her father was not a good king, but she knows her brother was a good Prince. The tales she has been fed all her life are about the 'usurper'. They slaughtered her brother, soon-to-be king, a man everyone - even his enemies - seem to agree was fucking fantastic. They slaughtered his wife and butchered his children. Her mother was forced to flee and it is implied that the stress of the seige on Dragonstone lead in part to her death in childbirth not necessarily true, but something Viserys would have tormented Dany with).

Also let's not forget that the world of ASOIAF is not our world. It is feudal. Titles mean something. Dany is royalty. All she knows is that usurpers rebelled, butchered her family and took their ancestral seat. She has been penniless and destitute unstill she clawed her way to agency. This is her birthright. Of course she is going to place a tremendous amount of importance on that.

The sled sees dead sleds because it is also dead.

Never, unless I want to be spoiled.

The first one was for 3:10 To Yuma. I was in college and was talking to my group that I was going to watch it after finishing dinner (while at dinner). My (ex) roommate goes, 'Oh, this character actually dies at the end when this happens." I was so mad, I never watched it.

The other one was for the first MCU Spider-Man movie. Someone on reddit pm'd the big' twist'. Jokes on them, I am not a Spider-Man fan and have still not seen that movie.

Also, the situation in Slavers Bay is certainly not an idyllic home with "a people who love her". Yes, many thousands of slaves whom she freed love her. But the people in power, the people who she needs to placate, do NOT. Slavers Bay is a ticking time bomb and every bit as dangerous as going to Westeros.

Also, the current ruler of Westeros is someone who we might ACTUALLY have cause to call crazy, although the simplification does even Cersei's character a disservice. Are you saying the people of Westeros are better off with Cersei ruling them? Really? REALLY?

This. People seem to have forgotten comms like Fandom Wank, LJ Flamecup, Mock The Stupid, etc.

Pan's Labyrinth. Like every Robert Cormier book. Requiem for a Dream.

If you're an adult and exclusively into stuff aimed at kids or teens, I assume you're emotionally stunted in some respect.

Might get more feedback if you post this in a few days or so. So more people have seen the movie. Might want to save your comment for then as well.

I think it's reasonable to check with people first if they have seen something or not but I do agree if you go into a discussion thread and don't expect to see spoilers then, well...what did you expect?

But the Internet being the way it is doesn't make life easier sometimes. You get people not tagging their shit properly and that's before I get started on how you can be reading an article on something completely not related like Contemporary Basket Weaving and some dickhead in the comments (usually via a Facebook comment thread link) will post HEY JUST SO YOU KNOW Y DIES IN Z!

The thing I absolutely hate though is the demands for iron clad spoiler tagging when something has been out more than a few weeks. You can't expect people to talk in code forever.

He probably couldn't tho. He always gave very vague answers when asked about it in interviews so I'd guess there wasn't much he would've been allowed to discuss in a book.

stuffed animals are usually not scantily clad anime figures with a clearly sexual subtext tho

I really like this idea but am just so used to the show doing the opposite of what I'd like that I'm half expecting Sansa and Dany to die and Jon ends up on the throne. Sigh.

see, this is an excellent reason to homeschool and the best possible turnout.

unfortunately, anon above with the other terrible reasons to homeschool (particularly #2) and all the states with low-to-no standards for testing and evaluating homeschooling effectiveness seem to be the prevailing scenario. and, frankly, in fictional terms? those are conflicts and drama waiting to happen and that's what drives stories. Happy, content, intelligent students making the most out of a shit situation and succeeding aren't as interesting as bigots, shut-ins, cults, and "I'm stupid because I was homeschooled!"

LJ Flamecup, that takes me back.

Honestly, I look back at some of the 'classic' megawanks and it's so obvious some of the people have deep issues on both sides. It's also very telling that Fandom Wank totally died off as soon as the social justice movement started to gain traction. A lot of the people they mocked were genuinely mentally ill.

There's definitely a lot of cheap crap out there because $$$, but what really gets me is the random stuff that's just slapped with Star Wars or Harry Potter or whatever that has nothing to do with that thing and is clearly just an attempt to make more money. Having said that, I do own a Hello Kitty vibrator.

on shit I care about? rarely if ever because I lock that shit down. I'm also very good about not spoiling people who aren't as caught up as I am.

on shit I don't have any intention to see? hahaha I actively search out spoilers just so I can understand what everyone is whining about today.

Olly was just a kid who had every right to be upset with Jon. Jon chopped the head off one guy for back talking him even though he was begging for his life. Ned executed a guy for leaving the wall because it's the law, even though he didn't deserve to die.

But go ahead and sugar coat it and twist things to fit your own view.

I don't care all that much about spoilers most of the time, so if I do get spoiled I don't tend to really even remember it.

That said, I did kind of want to be unspoiled for Endgame, and lol, yeah right. Unless I stayed COMPLETELY off the internet until I could see it, spoilers were inevitable.

Yeah, and internet bullying awareness became a thing about that time, too.

TBH I totally get them, as a concept, but it just seems like too much of an investment / too much space

Yeah, it can definitely turn out badly in places where there aren't standards/testing/requirements, and you have a point about the fictional portrayals. Cults and Jesus freaks are way more dramatic and interesting than what we did, lol.
