153. I've been kind of watching Watchmen fandom develop lately with sick fascination. Though if you're from /co/, I have to say I'm befuddled by this post. The board seems to be made up of mostly old school style male comic book nerds, but /co/ is gay for Rorschach with a terrifying intensity. It's like his superpower is some kind of aura that destroys people's heterosexuality.

107. Uh, hate to say this, but reading someone's update on the novel they're writing? INCREDIBLY FUCKING BORING. Hell, reading someone's updates on the FIC they're writing (but haven't posted)? INCREDIBLY FUCKING BORING. And I say this considering myself a writer (although barely a fanfic author), so it's not that I'm unsympathetic, but seriously - BOR. ING.

If you want comments on it, you'd be a lot better off looking for a big community for people who are writing books and discussing the process. Not your list. You're right, they won't care.

Why? Well, duh! "I got another chapter draft finished today!" is really no different from, "I had Wheaties for breakfast," blog posts. Even posting about the characters or plot is not much better because your list is not especially familiar with the canon in YOUR head.

Stop expecting from people what they can't give. You'll just be more frustrated and resentful. Look elsewhere for people who are in the same boat and more likely to engage in a give-and-take about this sort of thing.

-They're both old as shit.
-Both the TARDIS and the Master are way up on Jack.
-The only thing Jack truly might grok about the Doctor is how it feels to be really, really old. And a bit of (apparently universal in the Whoniverse) Man Code.
-If they're "too young" now, the Doctor's damn well going to be DEAD before he's old enough.
-The Face of Boe thing, oh please. If they actually went with it seriously, I think they'd screw it up.

Don't get me wrong, I like the ship to a certain extent. But I don't think the Doctor deserves to be paired off with someone who's never really going to understand him.

The Doctor shouldn't ultimately have an OTP, unless you're counting the TARDIS. He's had many great loves in his life; but I don't believe when you've lived that long that one is going to be that much more important than the others. And simply going off canon (and not my own favourite pairing, which is Doctor/Donna), if there IS someone who fits that description in canon, it's the Master. (People can make that as shippy as they want.)

Not Johnny-come-lately Harkness.

If I'm remembering my music history correctly, that is Schubert. And I don't know if he wrote a depressing poem about a boy and his father, but I know he wrote the music to go with an existing poem about a boy, the German equivalent of the boogeyman and his father. It's a depressing song. =/

Uh, not much bout Mukuro, but I personally like Chrome better BEFORE she becomes Chrome. Nagi, anyone? I mean, her wearing and acting like Chrome... Just, it doesn't suit her. It's like Amano's forcing out a pantyshot character/love interest character/a heroine character (who doesn't really count because she becomes Mukuro in some occasions). The eyepatch, the mini Kokuyo uniform and the pineapple shaped hair is too much.

People like them as husband and wife but really? It looks to me as a god-shrine maiden relationship :I

I don't like these two because they're too overrated D:
I like Chrome's position in the manga, just.. not with her looks.

Bonus: Is there anyone here who can point out character development in Reborn? I can't seem to find any D:

Tsuna has had crazy awesome (EXTREME? No? /Ryouhei) character development. He went from being an object of pity, to a boy who, although he's still terrified of damned near everything, can actually stand up for himself every so often. He's nowhere near Boss-quality, but you can definitely see him getting there now more than ever.

I feel like the characters that could be the most interesting (i.e., Mukuro, Chrome, and even Hibari) are glossed over too much for people to get a real handle of and that's why 147's OP as well as myself don't really understand what the big deal is. I don't know who they are as characters, so there really isn't anything for me to like.

Unless I am into battle scenes? And biting people to death.

You'll never have it as good as your characters do if you STOP TRYING. A big healthy part of any relationship, sexual or otherwise, is communication. He's not cutting it for him? Talk to him about it and help him help you.

If it's not too late, that is. At this point he's probably concluded he isn't going to get it from you and just might have gone elsewhere.

The fact that you blame fandom for killing your sex drive makes a pathetic situation ten times moreso. You only have yourself to blame for the development of these problems, and instead you assign it to everything else.

and what is wrong with being perplexed by all these people who say all this bullshit and expect you to swallow it, and yet when you start to deliver on what THEY ENCOURAGED YOU TO DO, suddenly they disappear.

fact based in the comment. when the secret!op was writing fanfiction, she was the center of attention. all her hanger-on fanshits lavished her with love and affection over her fanfiction and told her she should turn pro that they would SO TOTALLY BUY AND READ HER!

now that she was encouraged to do something that she dreamed of, writing for herself, her own original creations, where are all these people that said they would OMGTOTALLYREADHER?

do they have the right to drift away or not be interested? sure. do they have the right to be fuckheads and fair weather friends as long as their kinks are catered to and once they aren't, to drop the author like a bad habit? sure!

but it still makes them crappy and shallow for leading the author on to believe they'd be there to support her and then scatter like cockroaches when the lights are turned on when she actually DOES.

they fed her a line of bullshit and now she doesn't believe what they say anymore about her writing when their behavior didn't bear out like they promised.

she's not in the wrong here, people. get over yourselves.
