149: Silent Hill movie? I liked that movie, a whole lot. So much so that I want a second one. I didn't begrudge that ending at all - mostly because the entire movie was some crazy kind of mash-up between 1, 2 and 3 complete with original bits for flavor. In fact, I thought the ending in the movie had a million times more closure than any of the games could ever fathom (HEAR THAT KONAMI HURR).

Until I saw #150, I was going to call troll. Because NO ONE I've ever had contact with has reported that reaction to explicit fic. Quite the opposite, in fact...myself included. And we're pretty hopelessly vanilla, so if that's your perceived problem, I have to assume you just don't have any imagination when it counts.

I don't understand that, really. I mean, imagine being a troll, posting a secret that you yourself consider to be beyond the boundaries of good taste or sanity. As a troll, you know people will be upset because you specifically offer up something that you know to be upsetting. How is that funny for anyone? I mean, "look, people who think something is cruel/nasty/disgusting and say so". Just because it isn't true doesn't make it any less bad, because it was specifically designed to trigger certain emotions.

I honestly don't understand what trolls would get out of it. And considering that, the secrets can all be judged on their content, not authorial intent. It doesn't and shouldn't matter if they are actually true, because they could be.

As a former shota fan, I was under the impression Shota was reserved for like, I dunno <12? Yuugi's 15 at the beginning of DM and 17 at the end, and Pharaoh is like, 3000-something. He's definitely not an shota.

Y'gotta realise that much as something means to you, they don't know it, and they're not familiar with it yet. Just because they're not as interested in your good story as your fun slash doesn't mean they want you to Give Up Your Dreams. It's okay, man, it's okay.


116. I think OTP means more than that these days. Or at least...I like shipping things. I consider Rose/Doctor to by my DW OTP--they're the ship that makes me feel warm and cosy and I believe in them. But it betrays the nature of the Doctor to think that if he's gonna have romance, it would only be once in his very long life when he's a man with they much love. So I can't help but ship him with Evelyn and Romana and maybe even a little bit of Jamie (I'm not sure if that one stays platonic or not for me) and a few others as well. The OTP is my favourite, but there are others. Which, I guess, defeats the whole "One"-ness of the deal.

Uhm... you have obviously missed the droves of Joker fans who only like the Joker because he's ~*edgy*~ and cool. I'm all for suddenly discovering a cool and awesome character, but when you proceed to write fanfic that totally ignores characterisation and everything that makes the character so awesome just so your OFC/other favourite canon character that is most likely male can jump him and have hot, steamy sex and proceeds to cure the character of whatever it is that makes them awesome in the first place by turning them into a woobie boy...

There's a difference between liking a character differently and being a fangull. I have nothing against people who think a character is hot, because let's face it, being a BAMF is hot. I do think that there is something fundamentally wrong with people who SQUEE over characters like the Joker and Rorschach, both of which are NOT lovey-dovey wooblies, like they're both just misunderstood knights in shining armour.
