124. I TOTALLY AGREE. I'm ashamed to say I found him really hot in "In the Bedroom," when he was playing a grieving father. Way to be a shallow flake, self. (I still thought the movie was fantastic, though.)

128. He looks like my dad, too (except my dad's Italian and has better skin). They also have similar personalities. Hence, my undying love for Adama. :)

130. If this is true, you might want to consider counseling. If my husband was more interested in watching porn than having sex with me, I'd want to go to counseling with him....this is the same thing, except with genders reversed.

116. I understand where you're coming from. I can't see limiting myself to one exclusive ship when there are dozens of pairings to be had in most fandoms.
127. Ha ha!
150. By posting a secret, you run the risk of having people respond badly to it. No one is obligated to walk on eggshells for Anonymous.
153. I can't really hate on the coming storm of n00bs too much, seeing as I would hit it (or try to) even if he calls me a shallow liberal whore wallowing in the droppings of communists. I'm crazy like that. Somehow, I don't think it will get as bad as with the Joker. Hell, I'm hoping the movie gets more people interested in the original material. If I hear 'Watchmen? What's that?' one more time...

125

[identity profile] jesidres.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Random fact: The upper left hand design (Guitars and Guns) was created by a friend for a now defunct design company- and because the company went bankrupt, he was never paid. It was subsequently stolen and made into the t-shirt design with no credit or money to the original artist.

Completely random, but had to be said.

106. You can ship whatever you want. *hugs*
125. Yeah, dorky and AWESOME.
130. *hugs* The thing is, I highly doubt you’ll ever find a man IRL who’s as good of a lover as a fictional character.
150. I agree with you. However, sometimes the secrets seem to be deliberately worded to start shit.

107.

If you are who I think you are, I'M SO VERY SORRY. I SUCK. I'll try to be more encouraging from now on.

If not, well, I hope some of your readers feel the same way as I do.

(Secret Anonymous because my flist is tiny and someone could figure out who you are, in the event that I'm right I'm paranoid.)

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
106. Is it wrong when I think of the top pic as incredibly moe?

107. To be honest, I think it's kinda idealistic for people who read your fanfics to come over to your original work. I find that most of the time, people look up author for specfic things they want, like a fanfic for a certain fandom. I don't doubt that some of the praise is just hot air, but some were probably very genuine. I think it's better to have a select amount of people to read your original and give feedback on it, but that's IMO. I guess you can promote it more or slyly tell every person who said you can be published that you have an original in the works and would they like to read it.

Also, the downfall about the praise is that it can have you a false idea that you can be published on the drop of a hat. Each publication house look for certain entries that fits their vision, so expect a lot telling you, they're not interested. Despite that, keep trying and realize that it HAS to be something you really want to do and can handle rejection. That's why I roll my eyes when people who use Twilight as a basis that they can get published too. There's a more complicated process than that. Or, back on topic, you can self-published yourself to attract the big ones.

And I doubt all of them do that to get you to write more, not saying that they are people like that, but most were being honest.

109. LOL, stuff like that is one of the reasons why I ship them. Kanda is prolly the only person that Allen was absolutely honest with from the beginning (although he's more of himself around everybody now instead stretching the "nice gentleman" act). What made me ship them was the Martel mission and that Allen won't take shit from Kanda.

110. Fandom brings out my inner femininity, seriously. I fail as a girl otherwise... okay, except for fashion.

121. You're crazy too, bb.

124. Honestly, the few times I think Clooney is hot is in the Ocean movies and that latest one he is now....

130. To be honest here, there's something deeper than good NC-17 fics are being more satisfying than your husband, and you two really need to go to therapy for it. It's not acceptable, especially if you want your marriage to last.

133. NEW ALBUM WHERE, DAFT PUNK?! Also, lol.

139. What series is this?

142. You are never too old for secret alphabets, OP. DO IT! I wish I can invent a language like Tolkien or the Trekkies did, but I never taken a linguistics class in my life. ;_;

147. Wrong opinion is WRONG. Mukuro definitely has a personality, he's the trickster character in the series, meaning there's two sides of him. One's who malicious, potential violent (to point of liking seeing people suffer), and very vengeful and hides that with a playful demeanor with a penant for dramatics. The other side is more parental, mature, kind and caring to people he cares for (Ken, Chigusa, and Chrome) although he would never show it outright. Which side is true side of Mukuro is a bit blurry, especially when he can be a bit of a lair. Chrome's personality is more subdued: she's quiet but not shy, has a lot of determination to become stronger to help and protect the Kokuyou gang that she might think of as family.

I don't care if you don't like the character, you have every right to if you do. But it's tiring that somehow it means that character doesn't have no personality. Yes, disliking a character =/= character has no personality. Honestly.

150. Unfortunately, people do send troll secrets to F!S. People do get off of trolling others or getting a certain response. But I don't think it should exempt debate over a secret.

158. THE SHADES. THEY ARE AWESOME.

161. I want a relationship similar to theirs too.

Too Big!Secret #2. I wouldn't after that movie.

147

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay firstly, an opinion can't be wrong (or right) and secondly I know the OP very well, she is like this with a lot of characters but those two more so, and whatever I say in their defense (which is pretty much what you've said) just falls on deaf ears. gj~

I think it's time to realize that something else has to be wrong instead of blaiming fandom/fanfic for "killing your sex drive". And it's definitely past time to talk about it with your husband and deal with the issues that are there. Because fanfic can be great and hot, but it should never become a replacement for a real relationship.

[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
101. Sometimes people have different tastes. Honestly, one of my best friends EVER adores manga that I just don't "get". Does that mean she has bad taste? No. Just different taste.

104. Man, I'm loving those outfits. What band is this?

112. Honestly? Me, too. XD I'm not really vitriolic, and I love writing, but I'm jealous of people like artists and actors that can breathe some sort of physical life into characters, too. It's maybe a little ungrateful, but I wish I had those talents, too. (I wouldn't give up being able to write for it, though.)

125. LOL, no problem--I have FOLDERS of clothing for the characters I RP. I PUT TOGETHER OUTFITS FOR THEM. I'd do the nerdy t-shirt thing, too, but sadly only one of them would actually wear them. It makes me sad.

130. ...Well, if something was going to make me swear off smutfic...

if you reaslly think about it, a lot of characters in this, and other anime/manga have no real personality.

I love how everyone is flaming this woman and not considering that if there isn't something wrong in her marriage to begin with she wouldn't have developed this internet habit. Fanfiction is not crack; you don't smoke a single bowl and become an addict. If it is better than your RL then your RL needs some work.

Find out what the real problem in your marriage is.

Fix it (if possible). Assuming he's willing to do the therapy and whatever other work needs to be done. If not, then perhaps the marriage is over.

Once that's fixed, if you can get it fixed...go to Good Vibrations and find out what you need to make sex feel that good and train him to do it for you.

Of course, if he's not willing to do what it takes to fix the emotional disconnect that led to your fanfic habit, you're not going to be able to save the marriage.

103. I agree! Though I've played all the games (damn, his voice is hot) and have only started to read the novels. There's a great Halo Wiki out there that has a lot of info, including some of the secret-ish stuff from the games. It's here: Halopedia (http://halo.wikia.com).

120. ...TOO YOUNG?!

129. This may come as a shock, but Tony Stark is not the first fictional character to have the name Edward.

147. Chrome doesn't have much personality, but Mukuro?! Really?

153. I am 90% certain this is going to happen. Especially since I doubt they'll make him look as ugly as he does in the comic.

[identity profile] penguinfaery.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
112- I know this is sorta thrown out of whack with computers, but although the creative effort is the same, with a...traditional commission I have to buy fairly expensive supplies (Copics are what, $700 for a set of 72?), and I'm giving them the ONLY original. Occasionally I make copies, but they will own the only original there is. With writing you only need basic supplies and once you've made it, you can make as many copies that are the same as you want.

I do thing it's kinda odd that if you try to publish any sort of fanfiction 'zine people flip their lids...I think like...an illustrated 'zine with fanfics and fan art would fucking rock. But eh. Pretty much I think it's unfair that writers can't get ANY Money when were both dancing on the same edge of the law, but I do see why you wouldn't get as much.

132- The same thing use to happens to me a lot.

147- I didn't get it with Rei Ayanami and I still don't.

150- Maybe people snap at secrets sometimes over reacting, but sometimes, with the darker things...it being posted her doesn't suddenly make it ok.

147 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-09-25 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sparing you my tl;dr comment of agreement and just go with:

I think what people like about them is the "idea" they have of them, and not only a small part of that idea is based on the mangaka's canon.

118 - They look adorable. What series is this? (Couldn't find it in the first post)

119 - And now I'm interested. What series are they from?

125 - I tried to figure it out, but I don't think it's a fandom I'm in. The designs are awesome though. I think it's cool you do them! But, seriously, tho'... what series is that?

126 - /o/... that's... hilarious. And awesome in a slightly creepy way. OH NO, you put it in my head and now I might start doing it. D:

130 - You might want to tell him the true reason why you don't. Maybe together you'll be able to work the issue out by talking. Of course, I can't really understand since I'm not in that situation. But I kinda worry for your marriage. Hopefully things work out.

136 - Medic? Teacher? It's not lame at all. Whatever inspires your dreams has to be good. Some people wait around for inspiration for a long time (even their whole lives)... it can be a hard thing to come by. (Fictional characters have inspired me before. It doesn't matter whether they're real or not, that doesn't make the actions/emotions/words any less inspiring).

137 - Oh God, I remember when I saw that secret with that picture. I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING!!! DDDD: CAN'T UNSEE IT!!!

142 - Now I'm more curious than that silly monkey George. I think I've been able to pick out the letters for most:

D?P?H, KL, ED, ZK, BB, JP, EA?, MW, RJ?, AJ?, AC, GK, JI?, R?N?, TL, WB, TK, CD, KT, AN, ???LD?, TP?D?, CC, NZ?N?, JL?, T?S

Am I close? I have some guesses on some pairings (ZK I'm pretty certain on... then again it's apart of so much wank that it seems a little obvious... but if I'm wrong, that's all cool).

Cool alphabet tho'.

149 - I know it's probably not it, but that looks strangely similar to a scene from the Silent Hill movie. Is it?

Okay, I just looked up your Gans/Avary comment. I think it's safe to assume it is. If so, and that's that one police officer woman, I agree with you.

What - What? You write it in Irish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_language)?
